I love how all the captured ghosts from the previous episodes made a cameo here.Kinda makes me wish that the episode took place a bit later into the series so we could see more of them
Isn’t it funny that two Bill Murray characters, Peter Venkman and Frank Cross from SCROOGED both had fathers that shaped the negative way they related to Christmas but it took the Christmas Spirits to change their hearts? As Peter says, “That’s a lesson we could all stand to learn “.
Awesome to see all the previously busted ghosts, would have loved an episode where we see the ghosts interact with each other. Many had some pretty big egos.
Still one of my favorite episodes to this day. It is really great to see Peter take center stage and I get a big kick out all the jokes in this episode, especially Ray lamenting about the cat belonging to the client they helped off camera, and seeing Peter, Ray and Winston become the three ghosts of Christmas. I taped this episode on VHS back in the day and it was one I would revisit every Christmas until I taped over by mistake. Glad that I own the Time Life DVD release of The Real Ghostbusters so I can see again every year. Ironically enough, when this episode aired for the first-time during December of 1986, I got the Kenner toys Ecto 1 as one of my Christmas presents. Also, thanks to some fellow Ghostbusters fans I discovered that in December 1994, three years after The Real Ghostbusters ended ABC aired this episode again as part of a block of Christmas themed Saturday Morning cartoons.
Maybe after they realized that they had ruined Christmas, Scrooge's ghost should've appeared dragging long chains just like his partner Marley. He tells them that he was wrong to let the Ghostbusters capture them and to write that book. He begs them to get the ghosts back and return them to his home before it's too late and then vanishes. Since the ghosts never reformed Scrooge, he suffered the same fate as his partner Marley only worse. After they repair the damage, the ghost of Scrooge appears again only very friendly and dressed in a white suit, he thanks them and wishes them a Merry Christmas and flies away.
Me: Hey ghash you alright. Cuz in the thumbnail you look happy, but your nose got turned into a grape. Ghash: the consequences of obzorbing to many poltergeists
This episode of RGB actually got a callback in Extreme Ghostbusters. When Slimer got trapped in the containment unit, a ghostbuster had to enter it again to rescue him (with Egon referencing this very episode as precedent for the rescue mission), but another entity already in the containment unit attempted to use the opportunity to make his own escape and fulfill an apocalyptic prophecy. It was _also_ arguably one of the best episodes of its series.
Don't know if it's already been said, but isn't kind of funny how a Bill Murray character got the 'A Christmas Carol' treatment two years before "Scrooged" came out?
Now I know what will happen if Scrooge never changed his ways, and was successful in destroying Christmas. Everyone will become mean, and everyone will become like him.
This really feels like a Christmas Special episode. Interacting with the Christmas ghosts and The first time knowing what's inside the containment unit.
The voice of Scrooge was done by Peter Renaday, he's best known as Mandrake the Magician in Defenders of the Earth and Master Splinter in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Well, technally christmas is supposed to be centered around chtist's sacrifice but i guess in the ghostbusters world that doesnt make sense because you got all these other gods like gozer, vigo the carpathian, watt, and etc.
I am a big fan of Christmas Carol, so when I saw this crop up on one of my Socials, I couldn't NOT check it out. It had some good moments, but overall, not one of my personal favorites.
I like how they are able to drive out of the city and upstate so quickly even in all of that holiday traffic. Also how did Egon get there with the ghosts since the other three ghostbusters already took Ecto-1? And at the end when the ghosts of Christmas teleported them back to the firehouse was Ecto-1 left behind on that cliff in the snow? Some interesting plot holes!
"A Christmas Carol" has been a favorite story of mine since before "Ghostbusters" came out. Seeing it combined with my favorite Saturday morning series was a major excitement for me. I never miss the chance to see this classic each year. Thanks for this! Not only was it funny, but very well-written (and as an author myself, that's not praise I give easily), humorous, and very insightful into Venkman's character. Plus the classic "Is he real?!" moment at the end - love it!
I met J. Michael Straczynski (the writer) at a convention and had him sign a cel for me. I thanked him with a tear in my eye for such a beautiful and well written episode. I think he was surprised that this episode means so much to so many people.
Is there any possible way that this channel can access and post the background music of The Real Ghostbusters, WITHOUT the sound effects attached? The only soundtrack of all the hauntingly beautiful background themes of this cartoon that was ever released contained, for some reason, the sound effects of episodes in which the music played. I've been searching for the better part of my adult life for versions of this cartoon's superlative instrumentals without the extra sounds. I would gladly pay for such a soundtrack!
I love how all the captured ghosts from the previous episodes made a cameo here.Kinda makes me wish that the episode took place a bit later into the series so we could see more of them
One of the best episodes of the whole entire series
Between Slimer, the three Ghosts of Christmas, and a few select others, I’m convinced the GB needs a Do Not Bust list.
That would make their job a bit easier.
No hunt?
It's so clever how they made the Christmas Carol with the Ghostbusters in it 😂
Bah Humbug....Fascinating love Egon's dry humor
The Ghostbusters theme song will never ever get old tho😊
I forgot how good this cartoon was
The intro theme to this wonderful cartoon will NEVER EVER get old.
If only they had done a special Xmas version.

*The Ghost* :
Don’t worry, Frank,
They can’t *see* us,
They can’t *hear* us -
*It’s like a re-run!*
One of my all-time favorites adaptation of Charles Dixon A CHRISTMAS CAROL
Awesome to see all the previously busted ghosts, would have loved an episode where we see the ghosts interact with each other. Many had some pretty big egos.
I like how they simply drove through a time portal in Ecto-1.
Well, close to driving through one, they walked through one.
Great episode. No surprise, since it's from the first season, when everything was still alright!
This was an awesome episode, so much in 24 mins, it's a Christmas classic.
Buone feste a tutti quelli che a fine anni '80 vedevano i Ghostbusters

It brings a tear to my eyes everytime I watch it. 🥲

Great episode👍
Four genius physicists and they couldn’t figure out they were back in time until after they ruined Christmas.

love this episode
Mister scrooge Why you so mean it's Christmas cheer up a little hut 😆🎅
Let it snow!
Now I know what will happen if Scrooge never changed his ways, and was successful in destroying Christmas. Everyone will become mean, and everyone will become like him.
I thought Bill Murray's Garfield sounded WAYYYY too much like Peter Venkman.
Great Ghostbusters Christmas special. A classic
Ghostbusters thank you Ghostbusters best Very good thank you Ghostbusters
Cant wait for next week's episode. Bring on Season 2! 😁👍
They still haven't uploaded the Sandman episode or fixed the audio of "Citizen Ghost".
This really feels like a Christmas Special episode. Interacting with the Christmas ghosts and The first time knowing what's inside the containment unit.
Ghostbusters vs Christmas Carol
For guys who catch ghosts for a living I’m surprised that they still wonder if Santa Clause exists 😅😅😅
Catch down all the Ghosts.
That may have been one of the best ones. What happened to marley?
The voice of Scrooge was done by Peter Renaday, he's best known as Mandrake the Magician in Defenders of the Earth and Master Splinter in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I have an animation cel of Scrooge from this episode and would love to have him sign it!
garfield? I never noticed.
Rip Mom
This episode was the reason why I thought, until I was far too old to know better, that Ebenezer Scrooge wrote A Christmas Carol.
Merry Christmas 2023!

Have a Spooktacular Holiday season!
This is the last episode of season one and is the official Christmas episode for the series.
I am a big fan of Christmas Carol, so when I saw this crop up on one of my Socials, I couldn't NOT check it out. It had some good moments, but overall, not one of my personal favorites.
The Ghostbusters really ruining Christmas
