Had mutiple e46's and never have I heard of that rear sub-box, and my current one does indeed have the holes. I saw the holes and thought how did the PO mount speakers in there b/c it's just holes, and this video made me happy to see the solution. Thanks for posting.
Really good video. Informative and useful as I am about to press the button on the MB a quart. By the way I am a fireman and looks like your around busy old Tottenham area! Thanks again bro.
Future reference and for others thinking about doing this... Those new tweeters come apart completely. The front plastic is removable. You’ll be left with just the tweeters and they’ll be much smaller and you can install them in the OEM locations and they will easily fit in the rear (inside the speaker holders).
Right well it must not have been theese tweeters they are much bigger than factory and no way to open them further than i already did without potential damage
@@thejafman the brand of the tweeters don’t matter. What you showed in the video was the front plastic cover of the tweeters. Just like the rear plastic cover, the front comes off. You have to pop it off, it’s snapped in so it doesn’t come apart on its own. The tweeters themselves are very comparable in size to the oem tweeters. Just think about it, you showed a bare oem tweeter and that’s why it was “small”. The aftermarket one is also small, the plastic housing is not.
U make perfect sense bro but inside the front housing u speak of there is also silicone rubber bonding, seperating may ruin the unit as its designed to work inside the housing in this case. Even if u successfully remove it which i agree is possible it it would be more complicated to mount to the oem bracket than using the ones provided in the kit. I thought of all this at the time of fitting
New M3 owner.. mine is a 2002 coupe non-Hk model, if I buy the Hk parcle with original Hk speakers is this simply plug and play or do I need additional wiring ?
Tkank for your video ! I would like to buy the MB QUART speakers for my e46 How do you connect the big speaker located at the bottom of the door to the existing connector ? Thx
@@thejafman I would like but the tweater too of course. But I was speaking about the connection between the big speakers and the electrical cable of the car, how did you do?

Great Video, could you send us the part numbers for the screws you ordered to secure the HK parcle shelf?
Does the new Headunit amplifier effect the rear shelf speaker, i thought it would?
Nice video.. Keep up the good work bro..
Do you have part #'s for the screw clips for the HK woofer box? Also link to the wiring kit so you don't have to cut factory speaker wires?
Hey bro the car sounds awesome. What set up (exhaust) do you have on it? Or other mods?
Hey adam its all explained in latest video
@@thejafman haha I meant the exhaust not the ICE!
Very very useful!

Would i need to buy a hk amplifier to use 10 speakers or can i use the default 1?
I dont get u
I assume u have a standard system
Meaning a hk amp is a pointless waste
Just buy an aftermarket amp suitable for your speakers
when you did the sound deadening, are you getting the door closing thud now or does it still sound hollow
It never sounded hollow to me, and it sounds the same as before
Where did you get the replacement clips for the sub basket?
bmw direct, they should be able to sell it to you and the screws

I would buy the matching tweeters,, u cant make stock tweeters work with aftermarket speakers

Did them MB Quart speakers fit direct into the rear shelf with no modification or adaptors?
Yes correct
I'm interested in doing this on my E46 saloon but I want to keep my stock headunit for the OE look. Would the sound improvement be noticeable?
You can can get your oem unit upgraded with better amps and bluetooth id do this first
Search carphonics
Do you need to disconnect the battery?
You dont need to, but its always good advice go disconnect when working on electronics
I'm somewhat confused - did you bypass the HK amplifier?
Nope i dont have a hk system just the basic one but now its miles better than the hk
@@thejafman How did u wire the aftermarket sub to the original amp im trying to copy you but with the original sub
I never used hk subs or amp
I used only the subwoofer casing
@@thejafman but were did the wiring go
