I started a new Civilization 5 game and got a bit too greedy... - Civ 5 2024 Arabia Ep.1

- Decided to play some Civilization 5 because why not. Playing as Arabia on a Pangaea map, epic game speed, large map size. No mods, other than Enhanced User Interface.

Oh yes! Civ V just will always be my favourite Marb gameplay. Nice one mate
Marbs relives every civ players nightmare, what could go wrong with sending an unescorted settler, classic
Also he doesnt use the radar trick to see if it's safe to move unescorted unit
@@Civ5forlife-td7hywhat is the trick?
@@IntoTheMiso iirc, you can hold your unit's movement, wave your cursor over tiles you have no vision over, and if it changes, that means there's an enemy on that tile you shouldn't have vision of.
@@SirPrizeKirby cheers!funny was tuning into babayetu's stream after i asked and they explained the exact trick
@@IntoTheMiso select a civilian unit, worker or settler. Hit the M key for move but do not click. Mouse over the tiles near the settlement spot. If there is a unit on the tile (barbarian, AI) the circle will go red. It also goes red for impassible terrain like mountains or ocean. You could check every tile anywhere near the planned settle, but usually 2-3 tiles in each direction is sufficient. Also note this does not work with military units, even scouts.
Civs have much more distinct personalities here. With Dido and Napoleon it's not a question of IF they will betray you, it's a matter of WHEN. Thanks for the Civilization 5 series, Marbozir.
In my playthrough ,My friend Dido actually crossed the entire continent to attack me with five swordsmen , just to fulfill her agenda as a backstabber 😂
Marbs, I am thrilled to see 3 things, more civ 5, a larger map, and epic speed. Thanks for making my day!
Thanks man, I really enjoy these.
Salt and flood-plains? That's an amazing start!
Desert salt meh. No wheat on flood plains.
@@Civ5forlife-td7hy Yah, actually a pretty rough start. No production or growth tiles except that one Salt.
YAY Epic speed!!!
I like watching the first 150 turns of civ games 😅
I enjoy the begining the most, for sure.
Also when I play myself
@@lakrids-pibe new starts and all of the unknowns are my favorites
@@Drizz1717i don't know why, but collecting ruins feels so good
@@thedancingguy828 the early is so good in many ways
Love the civ 5 playthroughs! I remember your previous Arabia game where you had events & decisions, got instant 3 camel archers and dominated Atilla
Civ5 is always appreciated.
Glad to see someone still plays civ 5
Never too much Civ V! This game is the best. Thanks Marbs.
Camel archers are so awesome in 5, especially if you get them logistics... move, hit 2x and move back... move, pillage, hit and move back. My one gripe is the same as the Keshik in that their promotions don't carry forward when you upgrade them. They move from a ranged to a melee and the stupid promotions don't convert as well. Feels like there should be a mod for that. Looking forward to the series!
On the plus side horse archers and horsemen both upgrade to camels. I like to keep one horseman unupgraded as a capture unit.
If I see a start like this, I would prioritise Pottery, Shrine, Desert Folklore immediately. It's the best pantheon if you have a good setup for it. You got it anyway though, so it worked out fine.
Thanks for making this so much more interesting with the settler move. To some people it may look like careless gameplay, but that would obviously never happen on this channel, so that must have been for entertainment.
@Marbozir You did play a large map, at least once, like 8 to 10 years ago. I watched it quite recently and the things you didn't like about it were to many barbarians in early game and runaway AI's in late game! So, lets see. :D
Happiness looks like it will be an issue. Very few luxuries nearby
Love these new Civ 5 playthroughs; going to binge on some older ones as I await next episodes...
Monument before shrine when picking tradition on immortal is crazy to me. You were so lucky this game to still get desert faith, because the AI will prioritise it if they can. Furthermore researching mining first when it will take 25 turns before you have your first worker makes no sense at all, you still should have opend animal husbandry for the lucky desert horse and mining would still have been done before your worker got out. Still I do enjoy how you explain all the choices you make :)
"Two extra desert hills in range, ah ha ha ha"
that was an exciting start. good luck can't wait to see if you can get petra. fingers crossed!
You can use civilians right-click-hold and hover over tiles to radar units/barbs in the fog of war. If there are units in the fog, it will appear red and unmoveable. I use it when to move civilian units unescorted.
That's cheating
Marbs got so mad because of barbarians I almost heard the powerful Polish expletive at the tip of his tongue!
Perkele!
Barbarians are always the most OP in any Civ game.
...camel archers! Took me a moment to remember, but holy cow.
ive found that its almost always better to settle two tiles a way as capital, u usually get more resources maybe even a natural wonder perhaps
In place is almost never the best spot in the area. Its worth moving a turn or 2 for better capital
I think the desert hill would be the best place, +1 production in the early game is huge, and you can immediately work the salt (+2 food, +1 production, +1 gold), the place you chose depends too much on whether you can build Petra
Ah the 2014 vibes ❤but yea those barbarions were a challenge indeed
Rough start. Every time I watch your playthrough, I want to start a game myself. I might download that save
Really love these series of civ 5 epic speed and some good action from the start. Great video!
This will be an amazing game! Can't wait for the next part👍
Legendary first episode
Yaaaay more Civ5
Yooooo that Arabia game was so good. I still remember it. Up there with your Brazil game in my opinion.
G*d D*mn it RUclips! I'm 8 days late to a new Marbozir Civ series?!? F*ck you youtube!
😄 We need a Deity Twins comeback.
Deity Arabia was my introduction to this channel @)
"Can horses hear me?" 😉
After so many years, you are still my favorite civ content creator ❤
I appreciate that!
This game is amazing. I had so many good experiences with it
Arabia is one of your best Civ 5 LPs and really showed how good of a player you are to dominate deity the way you did with such a bad jungle start and having Attila as your neighbour. Japan might be your best performance though
Those barbarians were ridiculous. Is this raging barbs or just raging marbz?
This is eerily similar to the japan game. Sending unescorted settler to grab far away natural wonder, losing it to barb camp. At least shaka isn't your closest neighbor this time.
Wow, I don't remember ever seeing you play at less than Deity - looking forward to it.
we're so happy to see you!
- all the barbarians, apparently
Nice to see you playing Civ 5!
We're so back
Whoah did i just go 88mph in a DeLorean? What year is this? Awesome!
YES!!! new civ 5 series and itr is Arabia!!!
Settle on the hill one tile up omg
Definitely better with Epic speed. Hopefully this will end with "Tradition Fulfilled" this time.
24:43 The magic words.
Thank you for another Civ V upload
Damn, I've rarely seen such agressive barbarians.
Just remember... two times zero is still zero.
LOL the best possible city for a hydro-dam later game.
I was about to get drunk but now I can watch a Marb Civ V game instead - Thats like finding a ruin with 600 gold
nah, more like being lucky and find El Dorado with 500 gold right next to the fountain of youth
this is some of the most horrible barb rng i've ever seen. jesus..............
thank you sm for another civ 5 series so soon marbs :D
Holy Hydro Plant!
switching between Sapiens and vanilla civ so often would drive me crazy ;)
There was a lot salt in these episode :D
Greed is good. Neighbours ..not always so.
This is Xcom2 and all the shenanigans that comes with it
Weren't you going to build Petra in a city to be founded in the north, surrounded by desert hills?
Greed is good, Mr. Gekko was 100% right, that's how the world works, anyone who disagrees is delusional or too innocent.
Salt and Flood Plains start??! 😲
Yay Civ 5!!
Nice!
twice the no oil hype !
Super slow start, dessert salt and no growth tiles. Trying to get petra on Immortal with no production, better hope Egypt ain't in the game.
I'll have to keep watching to find out.
My favourite tradition build is Hanging Gardens into Petra. You get both of them in your capital with some dessert hills and it's a wrap.
hype!!!!!
Any reason why you didn’t open with Pottery for a shot at Desert Folklore?
Wow, a Pangaea where you don't start on a tiny island? What's next, having coal or oil inside your borders??
greed is good :)
GO PETRA !!
New Marbz video? I’m in
Fcuk yea another marbz and civ v content..
I really hope Civ VII brings back AI personalities. Civ VI's AIs feel very dumbed down in comparison and don't feel distinct from each other.

Greedy civ 5 on epic speed is the best
Camel archer gore please!
Wy not start with pottery and beeline for desert faith?
nice
What is this "Vanilla Civ V" you speak of? Did you mean to say Vox Populi? 😂
🔥
No oil for you, I'll bet
Do you need fresh water in civ V?
Not waiting 2 turns for an escort and then picking monarchy over landed elite when you are struggling with pop. Marbs. Wtf man.
I know your CIV games have been anti-religion, but your in a dessert. How do you not go for Pottery, temples, and dessert folklore? 🤦♂️
he did pick desert folklore, if you watched the full video...
Dessert Folklore would give you +1 Culture and +1 Faith from Chocolate, Sugar, and Cinnamon Resources. 😋
@@user-rx2ur5el9p 😂
@@user-rx2ur5el9pthe game should have a new building called confectionary which gives +1 happiness and +1 culture from such resources
Desert not dessert. One is food, one is sand.
