This was a tough one y'all.
As some of you may know, I've covered LP on my channel many times before. I love their music so much and this was a track that was definitely on my cover list. There's really nothing more to say that hasn't already been said. I pray and hope that there will be peace amongst those directly affected by this, and that the remaining members of LP will never lose their passion to create life-changing music.

Among the thousands of covers I've heard of this song, none of them were able to display such emotion, especially at this moment of sadness for all Linkin Park fans, for all music fans in general.
On top of that, it was made by Caleb, the most badass bearded musician on RUclips.

This actually made me cry. I had never had a band touch me so much like LP, and when Chester died, I finally understood why people were shaken when Elvis died. This was a fantastic cover of a fantastic song.

I know most people probably hear the story of a toxic relationship with this song. But I don't.
I feel like Numb is the innocent part of me talking. The pure, innocent, incredibly sensitive and beautifully powerful part of me that I've repressed and shaped into what I thought it should be, conforming it, for so long, and so harshly that I can't get in contact with it anymore. Because I was alone, and I wanted to get away from a world that had disappointed me. Because I felt like I was being too much, giving myself more importance than what I deserved, and I wanted to escape from myself, swipe away every little drop of selfishness, of selfness, out of me. Til I've become no one. Numbness. And when I hear it being sung to me, I realize how bad I fucked up, how bad I'm still choking and beating up its still weak cry for help. And I want to find a way to breathe again, but I've hidden for so long, maybe I've forgotten how to live.
The background image, right into the feels buddy! Almost every AMV back in the early 2000's had Linkin Park's music, I connect huge nostalgia and a part of my life with these videos. Thank you so much for this beautifully sung tribute to an artist that influenced so many.

I'm probably gonna get hate for this because I know this is a touchy subject but I honestly feel like this version does the lyrics more justice. It displays the desolate feeling of numbness that the more aggressive instruments of the original don't display. This makes you feel just what the song is trying to make you feel, numbness. The original just kinda makes me angry about similar situations to what the lyrics describe when I find myself relating to it but this one makes me feel like I can't do anything about it and makes it feel helpless and well, "numb."
RIP Chester for sure, he will be missed, and it's because of his voice that this song was displayed so well before, but I think it's fair to say that Caleb made this song worth all of what it was before and then some.
A Dandy Guy People should not hate you for having an opposing opinion to you. Also, I agree with you, this version of the song brings out the emotions in me much better than the original did. Not to say the original wasn't great, but I simply like this version more.
They succeed at different things. This, as you say, brings the emotions of the lyrics out in an extraordinary, but this will never be a radio hit. It doesn't have that versatility of fitting multiple situations. It's fantastic if you sit down and focus on it, but if it were playing in the store i might not like it as much, since i wouldn't be able to focus on it. The original managed to portray the lyrics with passion while making it a radio hit. That's a feat on it's own as well.
A Dandy Guy in my opinion I believe that the original did more justice mainly for what the song stood for as it was, don't forget chester was abused as a child which led to his drug problem so the only way he could express himself was through his songs so a lot of his songs such as breaking the habit all had a angry/destructive vibe to them (which only Chester could portray) but showed how his true self to his fans without really having to say a word as well as touching the hearts of many many people who felt the same way as in feeling anger towards the world and couldn't find the best way to express it but I do respect your opinion, I just felt like saying what my opinion was also still a great cover of a great song 👍🏻
A Dandy Guy I agree, I love the original very much, but I always found slower versions like this one more fitting to the theme of numbness and helplessness.
I respectfully disagree although I can see where you're coming from. The originals sense of anger, the way Chester expressed himself, was what made the lyrics come to life, made them pop, made it seemed like a battle worth fighting against, and he got his point across loud and clear.
I enjoy Caleb's music very much but Chester's voice was unique enough to shake and awake an entire generation. All these covers coming out are nice and very thoughtful but none will ever match the power and raw emotion that Chester brought with his amazing tone.

This is the most amazing cover I have ever heard of this song. It showed a whole nother side and painted a completely different picture of this song. This cover made me feel in ways I haven't in a long time, and for this Caleb I thank you a millions times. This was a beautiful rendition of this song and I cried listening to it. The meme has come full circle and people are starting to really enjoy Linkin Park unironically again. Hell I've always loved it, got to say I'm happy more are getting back into it. Chester minced no words, feel so awful that no one was able to be there for him... Let's hope that his music can help people find a voice to cry out for help when they need it.

I remember when I first heard this song. My parents were first getting divorced, I was being pulled apart in two different directions by both of my parents, who both wanted me to be such different people. I didn't want to be either of the things they wanted me to be. I just wanted to be me. I was numb to the things they would say, how they would try and turn me against the other, how they would push me to be their little perfect angel.
Now I'm six years older, and better for it. I'm much more confident in who I am and who I want to be, and I can thank Chester and his music for getting me through all the hard times in my life. The world truly lost a gem when he passed. RIP Chester.

I don't often comment on youtube videos, but I had to this time. Thank you, Caleb Hyles, and Thank You Myuuji - this Cover touched my heart in a way I had long forgotten. I felt the grief and the pain of losing someone important again.
There was no place for anger, only disbelief and sorrow when I heard of the passing of one of the people who helped in making me the person I am now; and Chester / LP was definitely such a person. I'm sure they didn't just influence me, but a generation. He will never be forgotten - and due to that never really die for us.

RIP Chester, a legend for many people i knew growing up and his loss is a mark on the world. The loss of artists and actors my generation has suffered in the past coule years has made me realize just how powerful this song is. Caleb your rendition of this song does it more than justice, it pays homage to a time that is slowly being lost to the world. A time that was not the greatest for the world but certainly better than what it is now. Thankyou.

Growing up this and Breaking the Habit were the absolute definition of how I constantly felt and lived. White Chester's passing it felt like a part of me, a part of my past, had gone. Caleb you have helped breath new life into this song that helped me give words to how I felt in my youth when my autism prevented it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this.

I miss Chester. I really loved that man. When I heared he died I started crying, and now, I still can’t believe. I feel like a part from me died, that a part from me is missing. I really loved that man, even though I didn’t listen so much to Linkin Park, I thought that Chester is one of the best voices ever, at least the best voice in Rock/Metal. I realised how much I loved him in the day when he comitted suicide. I’m so sad. Right now I listen to Linkin Park a lot because I became really curious and the fact that Linkin Park will not do music anymore made me to listen to all of their songs. I wanted to listen to all their songs, I’m in love with them.
