This song describes the breakup i just went through and i feel warmth listening to it. I feel like its for the best that she left but I thank you guys so much for giving me a new way to look at things. All of your songs are amazing and Brent is an amazing solo artist as well as a lead single

I fucking LOVE this song! Theres so much to say about it and how amazing Brents voice is throughout it, but i really am happy for the time this band was together and made as many albums and content as they did! Cause they are one of the quickest to jump up to my all time favorites out there!
All their albums are phenomenal and brents solo stuff is even more spectacular! But i hope one day they can get back together and give us more sweet tunes for our ears!

Is anyone else kinda disappointed from the first three songs they've put out so far? I really loved Satori and I was kinda expecting them to go in the direction of songs like Love Your Sin and songs that have had super catchy melodies like Four Letter Words. These new songs aren't bad by any means but I'm not sure if I can see myself singing these songs to myself if that makes sense. Hoping for the catchy melodies to return with the other songs on Connector though.
You aren't alone. I don't think that writing a chorus catchy enough to stick has ever been Brent's strong point, and tbh I've been pretty underwhelmed by these last 4 songs. Don't think I'm hating though. They are my favorite band and I have listened to all of their music at the very least once

***** lemme correct myself. Choruses that make the song worth listening to. They lack punch. Music can be just as much about the musical theory behind it as the meaning in the song. Sometimes itm doesn't have a good chorus. It isn't a big deal, bit that is this band's flaw as every band has flaws
PrestigeSniper I think its because they wrote most of the songs in the studio. If you watch their Connector - in the studio video they repeat this, saying many parts were written in the studio, while Satori was made mostly at home. Maybe they didnt put as much time as the others

Is that Max Bemis at 3:06 and 4:08? Cause if it, his delivery is exactly like Brent's
He firsts come in at 2:45. It's the ITM singer at 3:08. Max comes back in at 3:27. Max yells over the group vocals and sings the first line of the last chorus. Finally Max and the ITM singer trade off the "come on" lines. Max's voice is rougher and a little shakier at times.

The verses are wonderful, the guest spot from Max is great, but I dunno... Maybe it's just me, but the chorus is really jarring and doesn't exactly fit. The transition is nonexistent and sounds as if it were spliced from a different track entirely. Not that I don't like it, but it's just really out of left field.
the bonesauce that my friend is EXACTLY how I feel about this song. Hearing the verse in the teaser (2nd song) I was sooo hyped I didn't know where to leave my energy. And then hearing the ''Take my pride but you'll never take all my friends.'' in the teaser as well, I knew I didn't really like that part, coming from a huge I The Mighty fan, thinking it would be from a different song because it is so different!
But then this came out and I got pretty much shot in the face hearing it's the exact same song :(
I wonder if time will make it grow on me, which is probably the case but I was just expecting something entirely different because honestly guys, this song could have been so incredibly @#$%ing awesome with those godly verses!!

I do think the chorus fits perfectly and it's exactly like that when you end up a relationship with someone who's not worth it, she might take your pride but you still have friends and it works the same way with the entire thing, dunno that's how I took it at least and it makes sense
That's the beauty part about music and other forms of multimedia... I can appreciate it all. Some people won't. Some people think this song flows, others don't.
With that in mind, damned if I wasn't trying to listen to this song a few times at work today. The transitions are a bit of audio whiplash, but as someone said further up, it's all about your interpretation of the song itself.

It's a beautifully written track, and I really don't think I could dislike anything these guys have done. Yeah, their style is somewhat generic and it's really nothing all that different to what bands have been doing for the last decade, but they own it. They have a penchant for melody, and give CPR to the genre.
Eduardo Medel I think I speak for both if I say that we're not talking about the lyrics but, the melody, just how the chorus sounds. The lyrics are fine! great even! and personally the second part of the chorus isn't even half that bad, but just the almost random transition from verse to chorus is what makes it not fitting. Once again, the sound not the lyrics. I am a musician myself and tremendously influenced by ITM. I just feel like they could've come up with something a lot better knowing the songs they have already produced.

Those are my thoughts, essentially. The lyrics are fine, definitely some good, thought provoking stuff. I was indeed referring to the actual composition of the song, The verses and choruses have very little cohesion in terms of the composition itself, they sound like clips from entirely different songs accidentally spliced together. There's very little to connect the verses and choruses, save for some small melodic parts. It's just such a change from the ethereal verses and then suddenly you get slapped with the heavier, crunchier chorus.
Please note, I'm not talking bad about ITM. I'm actually a pretty big (though rather recent) fan, I just feel that there could have been a better solution opposed to just lumping them together. If a better transition would have been put into effect (and it could even be something really simple like a pick slide or a harmonic) this song would be damned close to perfect. As it stands, it's STILL a fantastic song, I think just calling it good is a disservice.

I know there is, but it isn't very prominent in the master. Makes it sound a bit hollow.

Now that you've mentioned, I noticed that the pattern is similar(not saying it's copied or (say)anything ofc).
