    Where do u put the ramps and how do you secure them in the truck without scratching up the truck or the bike? They have to go along with you to unload the bike at the final destination.

    I have a similar ramp with a strap under the bottom. In this video the strap to the truck doesn't look tight enough. If that ramp slides 2 inches away from the tailgate your bike and you will both be on the ground damaged. That strap needs to be very tight to prevent the ramp from moving away from the tailgate.

    I prefer to rent a motorcycle trailer from Uhaul. The cost is only $14.95 per day, it has a gate/ramp, a nose in the front rail for the front wheel, and several tie down points as well as a full length rail. It only has a foot or so of rise from grade level. For those of us of smaller stature, it's much easier than a pickup bed. It's very east to tow as well.
    Great job on all your videos Sean (I hope that's how you spell it). Hickock45 is the reigning King of You Tube for firearms, and you're the King of Motorcyles! Great job!

      I agree, that's the way I've always done it, plus you don't need a friend to catch you as you fall off, I only need to move my bike maybe X2 a year like that. the truck bed is a long fall when you back down the thing when offloading. the trailer is great as well when the bike has no power and is off to the shop, very easy to walk it on.

    Read the directions on your ramps- you are supposed to remove the tailgate. It can't handle the weight/not rated for it .

  • @Roadstar1602
    @Roadstar1602 6 лет назад +2

    I live in Ohio near Lake Erie, which is relatively flat. The hills start about 2 hours away from home, so by the time you ride there your butt is already sore and you're tired, so you don't enjoy riding in the hills as much. So, I'm thinking about getting an old pickup or van simply to haul 2 bikes down to the hills and start riding. I'm scared shitless about loading the bikes, though. I really, really, really don't want to drop one.

      These huge ramps won't fit along side the bike, so you need a trailer to take the ramp with you.

  • @thomabb
    @thomabb 6 лет назад +3

    I have that setup. Couple suggestions. 1) If your bike will fit all the way into the bed, take your tailgate off and set your ramp to the back of the bed. 2) Leave the bike in gear when backing down the ramp. With a little practice you can use the clutch to add braking force to the back wheel, preventing front wheel slip. 3) I see you did this but didn't mention it - secure the smaller foot ramps to the bike ramp so they can't scoot sideways out from under you. 4) Secure the ramps to the truck in a V pattern so they can't slide sideways.

    • @jerryferrell517

      @@jerryferrell517 There are no pins or latches holding those three ramps together. As I said, I have the exact same ramp system. The three sections have to be secured to each other with the straps. There is nothing else keeping them from separating.

  • @gbsfzs1302
    @gbsfzs1302 6 лет назад +2

    That's going to go really wrong for you one day. Tailgates aren't designed to support that much weight. That little 950 and you together is over 700 pounds, larger bikes with rider can be 1000. Sooner or later those tailgate cables are going to break and someone's going to be on the ground under a heavy bike.
