Tip for you David, when you take a taxi in Bangkok.. they all have a meter on top of their dashboard.. your driver’s meter was covered by a cloth!! Anyway always ask the driver to use the meter.. it will always be at least half the price compared to an agreed fare.. if he doesn’t want to use the meter just get out and you’ll find another taxi very quickly as Bangkok is full of taxis!! I enjoy your trip reports btw..
Yeah, Bangkok taxi drivers are notorious ripoffs. There's plenty to choose from. They're indiscriminate too - they're just just after ripping of farang, my wife (Thai) has gotten bit a couple of times for ridiculous fares. They wonder why Grab has become so popular.
As a Thai I absolutely freaking agree with this. I hope David wasn’t charged a ridiculous amount.
same here in india too..... drivers use the meters only during daylight. if its at midnight or later, they charge 3 or 4 times the original fare.....friggin bastards

Just so you know, Khao San Road is not Bangkok’s downtown. It’s actually a place for backpackers and budget travellers. The best way to get to Suvarnabhumi Airport is taking the Airport Rail Link Train.
By the way, THAI AIRWAYS is always a great choice to fly with.
That's awesome that you had the "Economy Suite" on such a long flight! I was lucky enough to have the same thing happen when I made my last flight review with American Airlines from New York to London on their 777. It really makes such a difference when no one's sitting next to you (it's also a lot less awkward when filming!).

Love the Thai colours ! I cannot imagine too many people flying from Thailand to Austria so no surprise you had a row to yourself! Thai seem to have lifted their service levels and food on most flight reviews I have watched recently! I must say the food looked great...hope it tasted the same! A most excellent review David! Well done and hope you had some warm clothes when you landed!
Well currently there are 3 airlines offering this routing, Austrian, Eva & Thai. Vienna serves a large catchment area of the greater Vienna region, includes Eastern & Southern Austria, Budapest (plus most of west Hungary) & Bratislava. Plus there are a lot of Austrians where I live in Thailand.

Beautiful Review and as always @thaiairways offers a perfect flight everytime ! I love the blanket wrapper tip as I also use the wrapper for trash through the flight ! Airlines should actively promote passengers to do this !

Apparently a comfortable flight. I have had trouble sleeping in Economy because the seats recline so little - I'm still too vertical! The food looked great for Economy, and the amenities worked. I presume there was no wifi, but you had good IFE.

I realised the flight wasn't very full. Are they many empty seats onboard? Always love your trip report. Whenever I see simply flying videos appear at the recommend feed I know immediately its going to be a good trip report. And I think we travelled at the same month too because I can recognise that inflight magazines cover.

Funny thing about both Bangkok Airports. New one was built to replace old one. Both still operate at above their capacity, BKK at almost 20 million above. Don Mueang also has part of a golf course down the middle I Believe.

I have flown long haul probably 30 times in my life. And we are talking the ultra long trans Pacific 15-18 hour deals. And I have never once had a row to myself or even an empty seat next to me. A few times domestically but never on a long haul.
This video looked like an airhostess was demonstrating the safety instructions 😂😂 great report !! 👍

I saw this plane when I was in Bangkok:)
Excellent breakfast for a economy class.
I noticed on the departures board when the language changed to English, Thai turned into TAPPortugal, along with its indigenous flight number to Vienna. Was that just coincidental or did they have two flights departing from the same bus gate? Not being a frequent traveller, and not speaking Thai, that would have sent me into a slight panic haha

The cup holder doesn’t sever anything but it serves a purpose ; the bracket might angle downwards but the actual cup holder ring clearly pivoted to hold any drink level - sorry , I’m nitpicking because of jealousy as my trip to the Land of Smiles was thwarted by C***d 19 ! Great video 👍👍

David, how much did you pay for this ride from Kao San Road to airport? Taxi drivers usually are not honest. There are lots of scams. When I've been to Bangkok last year, I only got Uber.
