    Thanks for this! I appreciated the comparison with IBD-I use Dipalicious, but with my tiny, flat nail beds, I fight with the brush. Now I know I can try the IBD in a pot and it’ll be the same basic process. And thanks for chatting a bit about peel base. Great video, as always!

    I think you'd find the IBD pot gel easier to use if you used a gel brush, (the bristles are shorter and has a better shape) the brush you're using is more of an acrylic brush which is softer and pointed.

    Hi Marla! thank you for this video! I am an armature but I am understanding the Builder gel process and I cannot wait to try it soon on me. I want a better understanding after all the steps of sculpting with the builder gel the second time you added the MIA (xtra bond) at what part do you add the Peel base coat and how do you follow on to your dip powder nails?? Peel base is used to peel off any color/ gel dip powder correct? Could you do a video doing gel base ALL the steps and get to dip powder too? maybe not the entire hand but a finger or two would be very helpful for noobies like me who tend to take a lot of notes lol. Thank you for the help and for sharing your experiences.

      Grr trying right now. Having a problem curing. Nails are still wet. There's a difference between "tacky" and "wet". Mine are wet meaing it's coming off on the finger tip that I touch the Builder Gel. My lamp is 72W SunUVLED Lamp (1 month old). I used Igel Bond, Dipalicious Base Coat then Dipalicious Builder Gel. Followed instructions on on the little card they provided with purchase. Still wet. I've cured 60s/60s/99s double power/99s double power/99s double power still wet 😩 On a good note, the Dipalicious Remover Gel works well. I used it to remove my dip powder before I started this process.🤷🏽‍♀️

    I just apply a very thin layer of the builder base an I only cure it for 15 seconds… like as thin a layer as possible. Then I go over it with a bead. Haven’t had any problems. I do it with my fills an never have lifting or breaking. However I started using the builder base over acrylics. When I broke a nail an had to redo it I used the builder gel an it seemed to break after 2 weeks an was weaker. So now my routine is if I am doing a new nail that did happen to break… that’s always because I did something dumb or went way to long between fills… then I do a very thin layer of acrylic with my tip file it smooth an then apply the builder base. That seems to really really help. I don’t know why but I chalk it up to a strong base or something I don’t relay know. But at this point most of my fingers are all builder gel an any acrylic has grown out. Maybe it’s not linked but that’s what I’ve been doing an its working.

    • @MarlaKris
      @MarlaKris  2 года назад

      It actually makes a ton of sense that the breakage would occur if you waited too long to back fill.. the apex is super important for stability so when that scoots down the nail because of growth, it can 100% lead to issues.

    to get a better brush application, don't put it in the alcohol between fingers. put a wet layer down, start 3/4 way on your nail, push the gel to your cuticle so no flooding. keeping gel on your brush after your mani will keep it conditioned if there is a cap for it. otherwise cleaning it with alcohol is needed to store your brush upright brush end down with the cap on. just what I have learned.

    Hi marla still trying to wrap my head around this builder gel product heres my question...after the builder gel has cured can you go right into gel base and gel top coat or can you just top coat the nail since builder gel already has a tacky layer on it. the builder gel i am trying out is by AIMEILI and its a 2 in 1 product base and gel built into one so it has a sticky layer on it after its cured so im thinking just apply a gel base coat right on top of that sticky layer and by pass a gel base.what are your thoughts? and have you ever used AIMEILI

I ended up flash curing for 10s and then cured for 30s and it was fine. Should it have felt like that for my first time? Also the Aimeila is a base/builder gel but should I have maybe put a gel base down anyway 1st or could it have been that I just filed too much since I had on clear dip abd took that off so I can start all over with builder gel. • @MarlaKris

      Theoretically, you can file off any gel product. Some hard gels are acetone permeable, so those can be soaked off. It should say right on the product whether it’s soak off or not, but I’d always advise reaching out directly to the company if you’re unsure!

    • @MarlaKris
      @MarlaKris  2 года назад +1

      That’s the beauty of it!! You can do anything you want! I’m currently using it on my natural nail but you can build extensions with it and use it over tips! Don’t put it over polish or strengthener tho.. it won’t stick at all. It’ll just pop off or lift and cause greenies. 😖
