Scenic Palouse River Canyon LONG Train Pace 10/1/2018

  • This location is at and around Washington State's notorious Palouse Falls in the Palouse River Canyon.
This is some of the most rugged terrain in all of Washington with continuous shear rock walls.
Union Pacific's Ayer Subdivision cuts right through the rocks above the river and puts on quite a show!
The train here is a BNSF empty coal train. During my trip here during this time it seemed like I saw more foreign power than actual UP units.
All footage taken from a DJI Phantom 4.

This is the second drone video of yours that I have watched. You are an excellent drone and camera pilot and the subject matter is spectacular. Not only do you show excellent footage of the train but the terrain of the Columbia lava fields (which occurred over a significant period 15 to 17 million years ago) and ripped through by the Missoula floods around 15000 years ago. I watch in awe at the awesomeness of nature that occurs on earth. I will certainly binge watch all of your drone videos. I hope they are as good as the two I have watched so far. Greetings from the Train Lord in South Australia a long way away from this spectacular action.

Hi Dan, I worked state hiway in this area to the Snake River.
Watched the trains cross the tressel over the river; one of the longer tressels in the country.
Built-in the 1930's I believe, with hot rivets and flat iron design.
    Amazing the engineering!!

I wonder why they didn't just place the tracks higher up so they would not have to make so many cuts and tunnels? The best part of the video for me is the shot where the train is crossing over the bridge. The video is nearly perfect, good length, awesome footage.

The Palouse Canyon was cut in a day or two as the flood water drained off land about 4,350 years ago.
The land shows the typical flood topography of a table plateau, deeply gullied sides and a little river in the bottom of a v shaped canyon.
Watch the video of Condit Dam draining to see how such canyons can by cut through soft sediments in an hour or so.
Most people fantasize that the river cut through hard rock but really it was all just wet sediments from The Flood.
