Semper Fi...:) I'm thinking about getting a trike and I like how the Schwinn Meridian seems to be a good base for an electric motor and maybe some extra lights...:) Plus, I had a Schwinn when I was a kid growing up in South Texas. Getting ready to do this to my meridian and a huffy villager from 76. I modified the meridian to be a 3 speed. Took some fabrication work to make a mount for the front derailer. Also changed out the front forks with shock forks.for a more comfortable ride.Anyways really like your video. Cant wait to electrify my trikes.
Thanks for your video. It helped me decide on the right kit to get. I like your trike. I finished mine recently. It is a very quality kit and decently priced. I bought my schwinn a number of years ago .its a great trike.
I've got this kit on a Cliensy trike because it had the crash bar type wrap around the wheels that held the fenders. Never had luck with bikes that used the support bars on one side. But it works awesome, it's my daily driver to and from work. Big 48v Lithium in the box for the motor and a little 12v 48amp for lights and a truck horn. Can't really complain about these kits, they work great, stupid simple, beats the heck out of those gas motors

Nice ebike/trike build for your Dad. QUESTIONS for you: Ken, how is the fwd etrike kit holding up? How is the battery and motor doing? Any problems or issues or advice on things you would change or do differently now, compared to when you first put it together? I watched this long ago, when you first built it and published the youtube video. Now, coming back to re-watch as age is causing knee pain making it harder to ride. Time to consider options.
Does your dad live in central Florida. I saw a man wearing a bike exactly like this today crossing hwy 100 here in central Florida. He looked like he was having fun.
dad had the first 2 wheel version it was lead acid and then he upgraded to lithium. he got 20m range 36v 10amp was all steel though heavy as heck, when the battery was flat forget cycling i pushed it.

I'm making this same one but with a 1000watt hub motor 48volt and 30ah battery
