    About Trailmakers:
    In the toughest motoring expedition in the universe, you and your friends will build your own vehicles to cross a dangerous wasteland. Explore, crash horribly, use your wits to build a better rig, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find on your way.
    Welcome to the Ultimate Expedition!
    Journey over grueling mountains, hazardous swamps, and bone-dry deserts on a distant world far from civilization - it is just you, your fellow adventurers and the amazing, jet-powered hover-buggy you built yourself. Explore, crash your vehicle, build a better one, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find along your way.
    Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
    Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
    Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
    Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

      I just tested it, and it's not worth it, however, I did find that putting 2 flat connectors at the bottom to act as contact surface helps significantly, not enough to do it with 3 tail propellers, but it significantly lowers ground friction without affecting aerodynamics.

    • @loganroman5306

      Irl physics suggests that adding more drag would easily outweigh it because drag is speed dependent, while friction is constant.

  • @edopronk1303
    @edopronk1303 Месяц назад +37

    IT'S POSSIBLE WITH THREE!
    With skis!
    If you lift your gokart seat one block, put 2 skis there, and put two skis behind the tail propellers, so, not under it, you get the friction reduction from the skis without extra drag!
    It worked with the dragon thrusters, then I bought the dlc just to try this out with the tail propellers.

    Not sure if you’ve thought of this or not: but you have mentioned how you start in the middle of the map, right? -So by starting at a wall as you sometimes do, you get twice the distance, yes? -but have you realized that the map is a square? If you start in a corner at a 45 degree angle, you will have even more traveling distance available to you going a diagonal NE to SW (C) than you do horizontal E to W (A) / vertical N to S (B) as a result. You’re basically turning the square into a right triangle. A^2 + B^2 = C^2, you know. If you ever need those few extra seconds, corner-to-corner is how you can get that! You could literally revisit your “if I only had a few more seconds” builds now and get your “what if?”!

    Things that could make it better: friction reduction: Skies, make the wedge touching the ground go up to make the frictionprofile slightly smaller. I think you were onto something with making the craft lighter to the ground, aerodynamics on angles combined with seatsteering could possibly work. What if you placed a flatconnector on every corner on the botten? Would that be enough to lift up the belly of the craft from the ground? Could you have used accessories as skies since they dont have any aerodynamics? Or possibly have a detachable set of wheels to help you accelerate faster in the beguining? Additionally if that isnt enough you could hold it in place at the start and let the engines ramp up before detaching it from the ground.
    Starting at the very corner of the map on a 45 degrees would also give you a tiny bit more room… What happens if you put the propellers at (-1.00) speed? Since pistons have a faster maxspeed at (-100) than 100.
    There is always room for improvements.

    Focusing the center of mass above the center of thrust could cause the thrust to provide a slight torsional force around the center of mass that would try to lift the front, but less than the flipped wedges did. Even a slight upward angle should pretty significantly reduce friction with that amount of thrust/speed.

      I very much like your thinking! But sadly it doesn’t work, I’ve tried putting the seat behind the thrusters and added skis aswell but could only reach 1190km/h, however I have found a way to do it with 3, you just got to add a gimbal jet to the centre but I don’t know if it’s considered fair by what scrapman uses

    • @chasemittl8729
      @chasemittl8729 27 дней назад +1

      @@TodayTheFlash Thanks for testing it and giving the nice response. I didn't personally test it with this build so I didn't really know if it would work or not, but I feel like I have observed some changes in automatic pitching depending on the vertical placement of the center of mass in relation to the center of thrust on a jet I made, but regardless of whether or not it is actually accounted for in the game, there are far more variables to keep track of with a jet that moves through the air instead of along the ground. A gyro that stabilizes it to angle slightly upward should also do the trick, but like you said with the gimbal jet, it might be considered cheating by scrapman's standards when testing these things.

Then fill the blocks in behind the with gridblocks would the flat connector make the gridblocks aerodynamics equal 0. If it works it would kinda be cheating the system but I think in the name of science it should be tested. 1:05ish... I've long wondered why the Propellers keep their Power Ratings cloaked in Fog of War and never let us be able to compare them to the Thrusters to better determine which would be better when, how, and why... :(
    End of Vid: It can be creepy at times how ya can drive/fly forwards along the Test Zone and have your Camera Angle sideways to it and the Lines on the ground flying by can make ya look as if ya are crabbing sideways instead of goin forward... XD

    I'm wondering if you use a light seat, one fan in front and two in the back because of the great aerodynamics of the propeller itself. Should work better I would guess

    Tail Propellers can also be used instead of gimbals in cars for maximum downforce. They weight way more and have more power. The only issue is that these are quiet huge.

    13:25 You could rotate them so they make a v. also, you have an extra small grid block that while yes, will barely affect it, it still will slow it down

    Maybe rotating the lowest wedges in the front upwards (and cancelling out the lift with downwards wedges at the top) would reduce ground friction enough to be able to do it with three

    I’d love to see this series but how slowly you could go with the most engines, but also trying to have as few power cores as possible ( excluding the engines ), so you can’t use any quantum rudders or engines facing the other way, all of your engines have to be facing the same way and you can’t use any non engine power cores.

    Since we know the connector bars don't add aerodynamics (or at least they appear not to) could you add wheels in-line with the vehicle so that it's cross sectional area won't change but you'd reduce ground friction?

    You should use wedges to make your build lighter, but since what a moment you did forget about gyro stabilizers? You also had some extra space for them ontop seat and behind creation. And someone also mentioned about skis under seat (while not ruining profile), by combining all of that, you may evene beat with 2 tail propellers imo. At the same moment, this is not cheating or bug, cause this is the part of game ^_^

    It’s funny because in real life propellers can’t physically break the sound barrier without using gravity to assist it. That’s because when you get to the sound barrier the blades on the propeller stall out and you end up with no thrust. So in theory with a heavy enough aircraft and a strong enough engine you could break the sound barrier in a dive. You need a strong engine to hit the physical limit of the propeller and a heavy aircraft to counteract drag on the dive.

    With how short you can make that and still have a break the sound barrier you should try and make an airplane that goes at the speed of the sound barrier but it's like fully controllable I feel like it would be a fun challenge
