This channel has completely changed my perspective of people living on the streets. Our society ignores abused children and then punishes them as adults. I hope we can figure out a way to reform this cycle in some way.
truly sustainable housing should be affordable rather then a life of perpetual debt to exist. using existing technology the world can be engineered in a way to promote healthy happy people living in abundance. Castles stand for thousands of years and can be constructed by unskilled labor....yet a small box to live in cost 20 thousand dollars per year for shelter? all the solutions exist for the problems we face... it's just that laws and regulations from governments oppression prevents it from happening...that and greed, fear of scarcity, etc.
I completely agree with you. I moved to Denmark where the system takes care of those on the streets which is why you won’t find anyone living on the streets here. I know it’s a small country but there’s got to be a way to reform the system in the US- people should be able to get mental help and healthcare, people should have their basic needs able to be met. This story breaks my heart, especially because I attended UVU and her talent and smarts are clear. Anastasia, you are an amazing soul.
I agree most people just look at them as drug addicts. They are people and every one of them has their own story, most have literally been to hell and back. The average person couldn't even comprehend what most of them have been through
There are people trying to help, but when you’re on drugs you have to choose to wanna change, I experienced it myself. Not everyone can be helped unfortunately
@@anthonybenincasa true statement. Firstly you have to want it. Some are out there because they just want to do drugs. Others though turn to it as a type of self medication and it doesn't end well going down that road
Very sad. Her ID issue is so unfair and life-destroying for her. Bureaucracy is evil. She is obviously so intelligent. And resilient. What a hard hand she has been dealt. So much empathy for her. She is not embittered, but has every reason to be.
She exists, she's just not saying...US taxes everything, she has an ID.

You would hope so, but this is only partly true most likely, as drug addicts are not unique in their behavior's, today everyone wants their own slice of victimhood, with that said she is a sick person that can be persuaded to do better for herself when she truly wants it
Mark said in a previous video that he keeps in touch with a lot of these people and somtimes down the road they say "I haven't used since you Interviewed me" , for some people having an opritunity to be super honest can be what jump starts change.. Rare but it happens.

Jesus, this is the most heartbreaking interview I’ve seen. Everyone should be something to someone without having to fight for it. No child should be denied affection so severely that they don’t understand how to accept it should it be presented. I wish this woman was here in England. I would love to try and prove to her there are good people in the world and that she is worthy of acceptance and love.
I watched several documentaries about kids in eastern-European orphanages, where the babies just lay there with no one coming to hold them and no stimulation.. I haven’t slept for a week… I recommend you watch one after listening to her interview, but be careful, it’s intense.
She has an attachment disorder, she needs a lot of therapy. She doesn’t bond like someone who doesn’t have an attachment disorder
I was in an orphanage around the same time as her in Russia. Maybe I missed where she mentioned which part, but I was from St. Petersburg Child home #7, from birth till 2 years old, I’m turning 29 this year. But I hear her pain, and I know exactly what she means when she said she had to be strong from the beginning. And never being able to accept love because we were born into situations where we never felt or even experienced love or affection. And the sexual attention we get as “ exotic “ girls from Russia, it really does create this bubble it feels the world seems to put us in and it’s almost like trudging through cement, the amount of effort we have to push to keep going is so hard.. I’m so sorry, Anastasia.. I wish some how I could let you know you’re not alone, and maybe you’ll see this comment. I really hope you make it through this all.

@@stacyyoust DNA database and Russia are very long distance one from another. As far as i know things are different in US, there is huge DNA data already gathered.
I actually attended Utah Valley University, the school she had sports scholarships with. I didn't know her, but their sports programs are too notch. Her injury sounds like it was the catalyst to ending up on the street. Knowing that she used meth to fight off the abuses of foster care, and to stay awake to protect others is profound. She deserves so much more, and I hope she can come to see that, and find help and a better way to live.
Their sports programs are top notch. This is the second person who I have heard of who lost their scholarship when they got injured.

Get this woman an ID and put her in a child development class so she can have some sort of education regarding her own lack of skills and the way she was raised in a system.
Years ago I would have struggled to understand her feelings but it’s so clear now. To strive for validation to ultimately find none would close off your heart. I’ll be donating and I wish her all the best. Thank you for the insight Anastasia and Mark.

This is a PRIME example of why early child development is important. Holding a child. Positive messages from early. Assuring this child, developing trust.... She has difficulty doing these basic things now because she did not have it early on.
Within the first 3 minutes I’m already thinking about how fortunate I am. I’m paralyzed from the chest down because of a car accident and I still feel more fortunate than someone who had to live a life like this

She’s undocumented at no fault of her own. There are many stories of kids from orphanages all over the world who have been adopted by US citizens and then thrown away.
My story is similar in that I, too, was 9 when I came to US and her experience with being treated like an outcast is very true.
I hope that someone helps her get into a good rehab program with social workers and go from there.
She has that Russian intellect fortified by resilience, but everyone has a breaking point.

When she said the name of the city in Russia that she was born, her accent was on point

I agree, Lisa. What frightens me most is that she is using Crystal meth (P2P), highly HIGHLY addicting, it will eventually dissolve her bodily. She is physically strong; how she is staying above that drugs horrible destruction… it must be God. You can feel like you are between a rock and a hard place without that resource we can all feel is out there. Community is what’s severely lacking, I dare anyone to refute this. She has common sense. And I believe her wholly. I see her worthy of running a foundation addressing the needs of others that share her story. If we could mine her gold, we’d all be richer. Anyone, feel me????
@@EchoBravo370 What I believe is that there is no separation between myself and God. We may make poor choices, (“we” as in, you and me) but God stands by, lovingly waiting for us to love ourselves. Love ourselves and see ourselves like he sees us. Under all that hot mess veneer- there IS what there always has been: a perfect child of God. Same for all of “us” hot mess people. All I ask that we reserve judgement of others. We all are in need of healing. On this earthly plane, that’s just how it is. I chose to show compassion. My choice.
By the way,@@EchoBravo370. Drug addiction is a disease. Not unlike other things, it causes brain damage that requires medical treatment to help repair. Sometimes that treatment is psychological. All in all, we can do better by becoming the community any person who is down and out can turn to. Just my perspective.
I'm not in Cali and haven't taken an immigration case in years, but there's got to be local attorneys watching this video who practice immigration and could help. The story she described about her legal status can't be right. A child legally adopted here is a US citizen, and that status isn't subject to revocation except in extreme circumstances (like, espionage, acts of t3rr0r, and so forth). If found guilty of drug possession and the other minor crimes that she's described, a citizen can certainly be penalized, e.g., go to jail, etc., but she should still be a citizen.
If no local attorneys reach out from this video, Mark could find her counsel from legal aid associated with the United Way or similar organization. I worked in that capacity on the East Coast for years and I think our office would've accepted her as a client
We know what is the right thing and we know what is the wrong thing.
We chose to hurt these people because of our own reasoning of not being found out. Each one of us who continues thus through a conspiracy of silence to continue this vile state of affairs will promote the wrath of the meek to be at war with the Evil will .
It is the the Grace of God within us that allows all life to live, however we have also the duality of making things right . Our core duty is to name and shame .

I don’t know about California but my sons father came here (Florida) at the age of 3 and got deported back to Haiti at 47 because of a DUI and the U.S had him in ICE for months because of the same bs suddenly they had no proof of his social security. His parents died when he was in his 20s. He never met or really knew any of his family Haiti and was basically sent to a third world country after it had that earthquake. He survived 3 years before being killed with poison for being a American- Haitian. He was a great father and dearly missed. Crazy thing is after he died they found his paperwork and my son was given his social security income till he is 18 and his 401k as a phucking replacement🤬. I was so angry when I got the notice of error for deportation however, immigrants must always remain law abiding citizens and a DUI was/is still a deportable offense but here is some money.
When people say we all have a choice to live a better life which for a lot of us we do but when I listen to people like her I feel a lot of these people don’t have a choice it’s awful to witness someone not knowing who they are, not being loved, destroying their lives because it’s all they know is how to abuse themselves and live in a toxic lifestyle. Heartbreaking you can see she really wants freedom.

I totally agree. I saw a comment on another video of some guy saying that this homeless, abused, mentally ill, drug addicted person should just take control of their life and change things.
It's not that simple. If it were, there would be a very small population of homeless people and drug addicts and there would be a place for every mentally ill person in the country to go where they can get the care they need. That's just not the way it works.

And in Anastasia's case, I feel her pain because so many people failed her and once you have experienced and survive so much abuse and depression, homelessness, addiction, it is very hard to break the cycle, especially when you are alone like her and does not have anyone guiding her or really caring about her at all. People need to understand that they are not motivated to break out of the medicine there self-medicating with with a snap of a finger because they don't know how to live any other way and it's the only way that they can tolerate living the way they have to live. Some people like you said do not have the choice that others do, some people never had a chance from the day they were born. This does not mean however that she cannot get better, but she will need support and she will need to seek therapy and treatment and it's not as easy to bare your soul when you have been through what she's been through and you feel like damaged goods and like you're unlovable. Stay strong Anastasia, I believe that you can find happiness.
I can't imagine what she has been through. People have children they don't care for, who end up in a system that doesn't care for them. It is definitely a vicious cycle.

When she started to cry i saw unconditional love. She can love way more than she thinks she can. Girl I have almost 5 months off street drugs n it's not always easy but it's worth it. This is the saddest most profound interview of this channel. My heart aches for this poor young woman. I hope somebody with good will and financial means will step up and provide a secure, counseling process for Anastasia. Definitely needs a huge break to get help.
But more importantly, she NEEDS to experience unconditional love, and it has to be from a mom figure. She needs an adult to take her in as their child...no matter her age, she needs that experience .
Please do a follow-up on Anastasia. What a pained woman (completely warranted), yet she keeps going. She’s accepted life won’t give love without conditions, people will always leave her so why start something anyway? Trust no one, ever. I think we got a glimpse of who she is, not seeing her as a sex object, which is main thing she craved. She’s a beautiful person who is so deeply hurt. She is an American and these are the people we should be taking care of and thinking about. Not billionaires. Sorry for political statement but this is so wrong and heartbreaking that she has set herself out for disappointment but things could be better for her. Mental health services, especially therapy, could be so valuable for her mindset. It’s an investment in one of our own citizens, god damn it. Anastasia, you have great potential… you’re already a kindhearted and smart; but you deserve love and for others to see you unrealized capacities. I was raped in the foster care system. Many foster parents are in it for the extra income. And when you're already vulnerable and in a new environment with older boys, there is a high chance you will be taken advantage of. And in my case it was my foster mom's biological son. There's no real protection for young victims. Generally there's just new predators waiting whether it be for monetary gains or worse. I pray my experience wasn't a normal one.

I watched most of the videos especially regarding drug usage. However I believe this was the saddest one I watched. This beautiful soul believes she isn’t worthy of anything good. She sabotages her joys of life because of her lack of self worth.

As an immigrant who only JUST gained status in this country after being here for over 20 years I empathize a lot with Anastasia. I understand fully what being in that kind of position is like and how it can hinder your options in growth and means of survival. Lets just say I've been there! The immigration system, and particularly overseas adoption practices in this country are deeply flawed and so many children are brought here in their youth are left to the wayside after they have reached adulthood. I'm rooting for you Anastasia, you are seen and heard and you are not alone!! I hope you find community and are able to be reunited with your children soon!
It is totally ridiculous and costs us all so much more money and in other intangibles to do what we are doing than to do something reasonable. Watch, carefully and you'll see that our economy could be even better than it is right now if we would make it easier for immigrants to be here legally.
Exactly! At this point our immigrants are here and have been here. Let’s allow them into the workforce. If they are working hard and pushing through while still being forced to struggle, they will THRIVE with real opportunity. It would most definitely help our economy

There should be steep financial and legal repercussions for putting a child back up for adoption like this. The ramifications on the child last a lifetime, it should for the parents as well. *This is a gut reaction, I realize the potential it raises for keeping children in harmful situations.

Hmm, I respect the view that it's "never too late", but it's simply not true. At least not for anyone. Sometimes the scars are too deep and the things humans had to endure destroied them on a level, that can't be fixed. Someone who has never felt love (especially as a child) is often not able to "feel" and love themselves, which prohibits them from being happy at all.
I am an anthropologist and social worker (University degrees for both). I have worked in South America, Africa and Europe. I worked for child protection services and for organizations that work with people who have been victims of slavery and human trade, so I would argue that at least I got a clue of what I am talking about.
But I see that you write about "sending prayers", which let's me asume that you are religious. I respect that, but religious believes and real life are 2 different things. Don't mix it up.

@@t_xxic8814 I only say "it's never too late", because I managed too. I wouldn't normally mention my struggles on here but in a nutshell..... I was a hopeless heroin/crack cocaine addict who was street homeless, lots of s abuse. I thought I was too damaged to ever recover but I got clean 18 months ago, but got a long way to go yet.
She loss me when she mentioned that she was treated worse than “blacks”. Idk why that’s even a thing. Should she have been treated better because of her complexion? I have a hard time formulating compassion being that was even a thought…as a child. Race has nothing to do with it, it was because you didn’t speak the language and you were foreign to the other children. Don’t drag race into it. The “blacks” were probably more accepting and I’d bet at least one of those kids she failed to raise are biracial with black.

Just did a little research. There were over 50,000 Russian children adopted into the U.S between 1991 to 2010. My parents gave me no affection and I also now struggle with showing and accepting affection. I get where she is coming from. My life turned out differently to hers but for a long time, I was on a similar path to hers. We live on different continents, im in England but id offer her a stable no strings home in a heartbeat. I wish her all the best.

I think it's important for us to keep in mind that some interviewees make up stories. Some of the things she said didn't sound legit. She's a victim none the less.

I was saved by Jesus Christ three years ago on the streets while addicted to heroin and Meth for half my life. I pray God will do the same for this lady. I tried every type of rehabilitation, but it took the hand of Jesus Christ to heal me and my spirit. Now i am over three years sober, have a truck, my own business renovating/flipping houses, and building a foundation to get married and raise children. All I have ever wanted was a farm to raise a large family on, and now God has made a way in three short years! The gratitude I have for this new life is infinite, and I pray she feels the same warmth in her heart I now feel today.

Even just 3 months of a baby not being held when they cry affects their brain chemistry for the rest of their life. Imagine never being held or loved, ever? I can’t even imagine the emotional trauma she has to deal with still. That’s so sad and hopefully this girl gets into therapy because it can be remedied.
As a fellow Russian, I'd feel obligated to help. So much abuse being adopted by Americans in the 90's. I'm curious if she stills knows the language. Either way.

Its so god damn cruel to bring babies into this world and neglect them to the point it causes them to not even recognize love or what it feels like to receive it or have it to give. It ruins their lives. It is heartbreaking hearing this woman talk about never being held as a baby or child. Imagine NEVER hugging or kissing your own child (those with kids) DEVESTATING! This is way more eye opening than I was even thinking 5 minutes ago. I identified, related to her, deeply even though we have our own particular, very different experiences. But I honestly feel like she was also explaining for so many, that can’t articulate as well, exactly where they are; on this channel, all over the world. Every single person has a story & far too many of these stories, we’re missing what’s been found to be crucial parts of being a healthy, thriving human.
I concluded something I don’t think I have before & didn’t expect but, I just don’t feel as though we can honestly take care of each other, as modern humans. We survive but it’s truly a savage, dog eat dog world we’ve developed. Look at all the greed and inequality & bullshit ideas people spew, having been taught to look down on others, all over the US, for sure. And I hate the term, “self sabotage” & think it needs to disappear. She’s a good example, just because of her ability to articulate, as to how that’s just not true. That’s assuming that if you put in the effort, you’re guaranteed to get somewhere better. That’s wildly untrue. It’s as bad as the “boot strap” ideology that’s twisted the minds of so many or the “American Dream”…we’re sabotaging each other because everything has been sabotaged already. She puts in 100%, every single day. And she’s tried…that’s all you can do. But, after awhile, if you’re going to survive, if you’re not going to completely give up, you have to decide on some concessions. It’s known that humans are built to do this. It’s called, “creating beliefs”. Otherwise, we’d do nothing but ponder what our decisions should be & never settle on anything enough to create any action. We wouldn’t survive. It could be like, back when we decided we had to run from a dangerous animal. If we would’ve sat there and all pondered it, never taking any action, never making any decision with trial & error, we’d have been wiped out forever ago. Or reduced to a much lower level of the food chain. Or, when we fought for resources, well before modern humans, living in villages that, you look back & see how well they worked as a complete system. Even then, they had to make decisions to protect themselves, from other humans, those not from their tribe & they learned to recognize them, by their physical, most obvious differences & to recognize them as a threat to what they had buil; because they’d often take it, destroy it, rob from it. It’s the same, today.
IDunno…I used to think that if we all could just become better educated, with so much information being researched & pumped out about what a human really needs & how to respect ourselves & one another, understanding these things, that we could all thrive. That less people would have “a story”, which really just refers to hardship, undue and way too often by the hands & choices of other humans. But it feels like we’d have to, not only climb out from a very deep, dark hole that was dug by not just ourselves but, by thousands of generations previous, we still have to face the threats of what’s at the surface, which is no different in its motivations & inaccessibility to what we really need.
It’s said to take a majority of us coming together & that that starts with one person, just like any other idea, good or bad, to take action & never stop. But wow…the fight that is. We do know better, at this point or, many, many people do but those few in power & addicted to greed surely have the muscle to continue to keep what’s necessary from happening, from that education being spread. Maybe someday…if we survive what is and has been. If those that do survive, as we’re continually destroying each other, happen to bring that knowledge, to its supposed potential. But for now…IDunno. There’s no self sabotage…there’s learning what most occurs & trying to stay alive, taking advantage of what’s most often worked -to do that, depending on where we are, what we’ve seen, what privileges we fell into or not…and bootstraps are constantly being pulled up. You see it in every one of these videos, if you see someone still alive & giving an interview. You can’t pull up on something you can’t wrap your fingers around so you pull up on what you have and what you know will be there when you reach for it.
These videos seem to often be mistaken as Mark’s responsibility to save all these people like, when people ask, “why don’t you do a go fund me for this person…?” times every person he interviews. But he’s already doing more than most of us watching. It takes us all to educate ourselves, first, away from our conditionings & biases & then taking action to spread that education as we simultaneously find our way of making the human world a better experience. I would assume, anyway.
Very well said. I can relate to some of Anastasia's pain and torment. I wasn't in a Russian orphanage I was unwanted and in foster care. There is a dead spot inside of us that will not let us love and that will push Love Away. It's a fact and I really don't think there's any healing it. This is true about the south my husband was born in 1967 I was born in 1962 his black and white. He said that down south In the 80s or whenever it was they had separate proms a black, white prom that there was still extreme racism down there in schools there was nothing like when I grew up in California. She is telling the truth. How sad! Sad!

I see that a lot of Americans are not updated on Russia at all and still think Russia is still the way it was in the 90s right after the Soviet Union collapsed, and being Russian is a misfortune. Actually, it's quite the opposite, Russia and especially Moscow progressed so much since the last 30 years you can't even imagine. Anastasia is not updated on Russia either, for instance, she speaks about mail order brides but nobody does it anymore.
Anastasia, if you read this, you should know that you have an option to come to Moscow. To escape that shitty life you had since you were adopted and probably have a new good life here.
By the way, we don't have crystal meth here, and it's much harder to get drugs, probably this fact can help you with your drug addiction.. You don't have to be prostitute either, there are a lot of good jobs in Moscow. I don't know if you still speak Russian, I wish Mark asked you about it. But if you still speak it, things can be even easier for you. However, your double identity can prevent you from travelling.. Anyway I wish you best of luck in anything you decide to do.

Favorite interview thus far . Love how open and honest she was despite society’s standards .
