    Beautiful! Not knowing the marina, I would have reversed all the way from the very start of the maneuver but still fascinating to watch.

    hes done that millions of times, he knew exactly where he was going and what to do. even so, a great bit of piloting.

      Almost zero wind and no current helped too. Still, he should still be commended for getting it right. It’s always a pleasure to see good seamanship.

      Don't worry, 90% of sailors don't dock well. It's hillarious. You hear them saying "I sail for 30 years" and next Saturday see them mowing down the electrical box on the pier.

      @@SuperSetright Maybe not. I have no steering in reverse at speeds less than 4kts. Have to go in bow first every time. On departure I hope that I have lots of helping hands.

      @@SuperSetright Rudedrs are designed for forward motion. The rudder has no influence in reverse on my boat, until you can get a flow of more than 4 kts across it.

      @@dm5374 In that particular boat the prop walk is usually to starboard, not port, which makes the move even more impressive. (We have a sister boat in our charter fleet)

    A man with the "feel". Not many of us are like him. When you know how to manouver fat wooden boat with old school sliding clutch, in tight spaces, then everything is simple. I knew what he'll do, the moment I saw him alone on that boat.

    La manovra va bene in assenza di vento. La frazione di tempo fra l'arresto e la ripresa del moto a marcia indietro, la barca è ingovernabile, con vento ti porta via la barca, meglio iniziare la manovra a marcia indietro dove hai più acqua e percorrere tutta la corsia a marcia indietro. Barca sempre governabile senza momenti morti.

    Very well done and fluently, though it's not difficult in a new boat with fin keel and bowthruster (yes, he didn't use one). We did that in our half-keel Andromeda from 64 with 20t and no bowthruster. Granted, not as fast and easy, but nevertheless we did regularly in Greece.

      He used bowthruster... Take a look at waves at port bow side when boat is nearly aligned

    We are getting so used to bad captains , that the normal docking of a ship becomes a miracle .

      yap. and lack of practise makes you the bad captain of every harbour cinema for the one and only week of sailing you are the skipper every year. congrats if you manage to save your security deposit without dying from a heart attack during any of your mooring attempts. any armchair sailor knows better what would have been the perfect maneuver - until he‘s got to take the helms himself, if ever. Not everyone, who loves the sea, is so lucky to enjoy it frequently… think about it,

    Меня зовут Энтони Рованузо, я из итальянской семьи Рованузо. Как-то в Греции я стоял на пирсе на своей лодке и русские пытались пришвартовать свою лодку рядом, они были в большой суете, шумели как стая кур, я зашел, достал из сейфа винтовку, вышел и рассказал этим ребятам. Если есть одна царапина, будет один выстрел в вашу сторону и так далее. Ребята все сделали аккуратно.
