  • Virginia Patterson Hensley (September 8, 1932 -- March 5, 1963), known professionally as Patsy Cline, was an American country music singer. Part of the early 1960s Nashville sound, Cline successfully "crossed over" to pop music. She died at age 30 at the height of her career in a private plane crash. She was one of the most influential, successful and acclaimed female vocalists of the 20th century.Cline was best known for her rich tone, emotionally expressive and bold contralto voice and her role as a country music industry pioneer. Along with Kitty Wells, she helped pave the way for women as headline performers in the genre. Cline was cited as an inspiration by singers in several genres. Books, movies, documentaries, articles and stage plays document her life and career. Her hits began in 1957 with Donn Hecht's "Walkin' After Midnight", Harlan Howard's "I Fall to Pieces", Hank Cochran's "She's Got You", Willie Nelson's "Crazy" and ended in 1963 with Don Gibson's "Sweet Dreams".

Are you aware she left the stage, after apologizing to her crowd but said, Jesus told her not to sing country , she was under conviction and Jim Reeves gave her liquor and convinced her to go with them to the charity event. But, the plane ✈️ went down that night.

I remember standing on that stage twice at the Ryman Auditorium and thinking wow.....this is where people like Patsy Cline , Loretta Lynn , Elivs Presley , Conway Twitty , George Jones , Tammy Wynette , Hank Williams , Willie Nelson , and gosh so many more that stood in that exact place as I was standing . It was haunting , but so amazing !!! I got to go visit Loretta Lynn's ranch Hurricane Mills about two years ago and that was one of my dreams come true . What was so great about that day was it was just my husband and myself and one other couple there that day . So they made us feel right at home there . They also told us the story about Loretta and Pasty being best friends . Which I knew that already because I've heard that all of my life , but what I didn't know was that Patsy's plane went down not far from Loretta's ranch . I don't remember if she was living there or not , she may have been living somewhere else at the time of the crash . If I had thought about it , my husband and I should have went and paid. our respects at where the plane went down . It would have been closer for us to have went there , than for us to go to WV . Patsy Cline will always be young and beautiful and she'll always be remembered for here beautiful music . Oh and I love the story about her saying , she gets to keep her refrigerator and her car now because her song made a bit . He played music with Elivs too . He's such a great story telling !!

A power spot, for sure. I too have stood there and marvelled.
Wow, sounds like a great visit at Loretta's.
The Opry did not care for Elvis. Patsy adored him and called him The Big Hoss.
He only made one Opry appearance, and was booed.
Hard to imagine, but The Opry had pretty strict rules and standards, and The King was just too rock n roll for them.
Jerry Lee Lewis had a similar experience, but handled it in true Killer fashion. Told not to play any rock n roll, or use any profanity, he came out and did both.

Kodi James The name "Patsy" came from one of her first managers, Bill Peer. He got the idea from her middle name which was Patterson (also her mother's maiden name). I think I read somewhere that he mistook her middle name as Patricia, and for their first show together he billed her as Patsy Hensley (she wasn't married yet). Then soon after that, she married Gerald Cline and that's when her legendary name was born.

I keep on getting the Graveyard hGuy's name confused, and I'm sorry. But I want to talk to him some more. There are so many things I want to tell him. There's another guy named Jerry Skinner who writes a BM out celebrities who sometimes leaves out something's about celebrities like he did about Dean Martin. What he DIDN'T write about Dino, was that after he fought and got his nose broken too many times, he had to have It fixed. But he didn't want too

...Want to. ( That was supposed to say "he got his nose broken.") But he had to, and it helped him a lot. Because it affected his singing and made it better.

Patsy Clone Files is her new name on the other side. For someone reading this, that probably sounds strange. But, if you could imagine Patsy being able to communicate to us from the other side, what would she say? I think she would say, hey come and see me perform in GOD'S Heaven. And don't make the mistake of hitching a ride on that there cross and the long haired hippie. I'm with GOD OF CREATION, where you were meant to be. Yea, that's something close to what she'd say.

My Granny often said “if ya don’t quit pickin at, it won’t never heal up”. It was a favorite expression for her and I heard it several times when it didn’t seem to make good sense. Now that I’m older, I understand, wether it’s a skint knee, a broken heart, or some injustice you have endured, if you don’t get over it, it ain’t gonna quit hurtin. Some people just can’t or won’t quit pickin at it.

Plane crash was faked!! It's easier than you'd think to fake a death. This is the way it's done in the music industry. She sold more albums by faking her death than when she was alive. Even my mom went out and bought a Patsy album and she wasn't even into that genre.
