    The DJI Power 500 is an amazing portable power solution that built for everyday use but has a few features that make it perfect for drone fliers. It can provide 1000W of charging power and includes a custom SDC port that can charge your Mavic 3 and Air 3 batteries fully in about 30 minutes. In this clip I explain how the product works and show you some charging examples. Thanks for watching and please let me know if you have any questions!

    love that these new DJI units charge via USBC, this has actually been a difficult fact to confirm so thank you; most of the Ecoflows do not allow PD charging to the unit, and while a small detail, this is a pretty big benefit to my workflow.
    Now that USBC PD has become prevalent/common-place amongst most tech these days, I rely on it perhaps more than most. I've got prob 15x PD stations setup in essentially any room/space I occupy - all bedrooms, living room, front and back of main car, several in garage, studio, etc.. it's rare I need to fast-charge my current ecoflow, I deplete them throughout the day, and top it off overnight for the next shoot. def looking fwd to getting one of these, thank you again for the great reviews over the years!

    My DJI Power 500 arrived mid-week. Tested it out on Friday night charging all my batteries, controller, strobe lights and even my cell phone at home. The optional fast charging cable for the battery, charged the battery as advertised. (Fast charging up to 95%, then using a reduced charge to 100%, to protect the battery) Yesterday, I took it out in the field with my DJI Air 3, with four batteries. For the first time, I did not worry about having enough batteries. Especially, when I brought the drone down mid battery to change NP filters. I now could switch ND filters, install a full battery and stay up with a fresh battery as the other one charged. My wife asked me is this something "I needed" and I orginally told her this is something "I wanted". After using it, I can say that this is something "I needed". This is a game changer to be able to stay up in the air as long as I wanted without thinking of my battery levels. I know now that if I travel to a location that is a bit of a drive, I can stay there as long as I want and make the best out of the day. I use to run my SUV that has two AC outlets and sit and wait for the batteries and controller to charge.

    Hello Rick from Phoenix, Arizona. I am so looking forward to cooler weather. I’ve been locked down all summer and I will fly my drone in 110 degrees + days. But we’ve got six months of gorgeous weather just on the horizon. Getting my Air 3 all set up never fill it before. Hey I would be interested in having you do a video on some of the internal magic on these drones like the internal I am you how it works doesn’t have redundancy those sorts of things. It seems like DJI used to have a lot of that information on their website and I can’t find it anymore. The technology in these drones is truly amazing and come along way since my first phantom 3 pro. Anyway, just a video idea for you thanks again, Rick.

    Hey Rick, Nice review! I've recently started selling a 3D printed DJI Mini 2 handheld gimbal converter (The most recent upload on my channel), and I was wondering if you would be interested in trying it out. It's designed to convert your drone into a handheld camera effortlessly. If you're up for it, I'd be happy to send one over for you to test and give your opinion on. Let me know if you're interested!😀

    So it can be used as an ups? If so what is the time to switch over?

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  5 месяцев назад +4

      Yes, it provides a power-through mode as a UPS and can switch between line power and internal power in 20ms. It also has a low-power mode for CPAP machines and other low power devices. Thanks for the post!

    • @mingscustoms
      @mingscustoms 5 месяцев назад

      20ms is quite long for a ups. Better than nothing I suppose

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  5 месяцев назад

      @@mingscustoms Actually when you compare it to other Power Stations, it's actually quicker with the 20ms flip. The EcoFlow River 2 model takes 30ms to switch so this one is quicker and most computers or NAS drives won't even notice it.

    • @johnsullivan8673
      @johnsullivan8673 5 месяцев назад

      @@Dronevalleythe ecoflow delta 2 will switch at 30ms ASSUMING it can detect your load. It’ll fail the switch over under very light loads. This is verified empirically and hinted at in the manual.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  5 месяцев назад

      @@johnsullivan8673 The DJI Power 500 has a "Low Power" mode that won't shut the unit off if the output drain is very low. This is great for phone chargers or CPAP machines that start and stop. The key thing to keep in mind is that DJI primarily designed the Power Series to compliment their drones and other gear. It's outstanding for that use case and the SDC port really changes the game with Power Stations and I'll bet you'll see it on others in their next models.

    Hey Rick not sure if I missed it but does this support pass through charging?

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yep, you can charge the Power Station and connect other gear to the AC and USB to charge external devices at the same time. I haven't tried using the SDC with the power-through feature so I'll have to check that.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yep, they were still in production when the Power 500 and Power 1000 were released. The external DC kit and MPPT kit (for the solar panels) are not out yet either. They'll be coming soon so keep an eye on the channel for updates.

  • @MarkTheLostTraveler
    @MarkTheLostTraveler 5 месяцев назад

    Rick do you think the 500 could run a 12 Volt DC Refrigerator for your car plus your ipad,iphone and drone battery's.

  • @chrishilton6378
    @chrishilton6378 5 месяцев назад

    Rick did you happen to "real world test" the number of Mavic 3 batteries you can charge from the 500 for typical flights where you're landing with around 15% and need to get back up to near 100%? I know we can math this one out but I'm looking for some real experimental data.
    Thanks!

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the post and I haven't tested it past 4 batteries but the math will vary a little depending on the charge level of the batteries when you start charging them. Technically speaking, the Mavic 3 batteries have 77Wh of capacity and the Power 500 has 512Wh of available capacity so even with some power loss through the charging process, you should get 7 or 8 full charges out of the DJI Power 500. I'll be testing it more this coming week and can update this post when I have more data.

    Does it discharge like drone batteries?

      It can be stored fully charged and I have seen any auto-discharge take place on the unit during the week it was sitting idle.
