- Earlier this week, I challenged myself to try and remake Fyrestone from Borderlands 1 inside of Unreal Engine 5, the tool which many are suspecting Borderlands 4 will run on. How did it turn out though? Find out in this video!

What a nostalgia trip! Amazing work dude. If you’re up for another big project, I’m gonna have to go with a remake of New Haven or Sanctuary.

In addition to this, I think old haven could also be pretty neat. I mean its fairly rare for us to see a proper city in borderlands and since Atlas has since collapsed and rebuilt itself into a much friendlier corporation it would be a shame to just leave a perfectly good city lying around collecting dust. Maybe the crimson raiders went back at some point to find it empty or infested with bandits and they decided to move back in. Lots of possibilities with this technology

Windshear waste would definitely be a cool one to see and honestly so would liar's berg. Another one that could be really neat is overlook since Hyperion is no longer oppressing them. Maybe they can grow back to the size they were in the claptastic voyage dlc since its a much safer place to live (now that hyperion and more importantly cl4p-tp are gone). Heck maybe its even become a crimson raider stronghold like sanctuary and new haven once were
I love it, very impressive! I would love to see a recreation of Opportunity from Borderlands 2 and seeing how it changed after the fall of Hyperion. Could be a ghost town or maybe overtaken by bandits?
Heck maybe it could even be a new base of operations for the crimson raiders. I mean if hyperion isn't using it, be a shame to let a perfectly good city go to waste. Or maybe Hyperion sold it to a different corporation to recover some money after losing Helios
I spent an ungodly amount of time doing almost this exact same workflow in my process of bringing Fyrestone to the Black Ops III Steam Workshop as a Zombies map (I never released it sadly, still sitting in my unfinished maps), watching this and the struggle with the Red Hotel brought back many memories. Awesome work!!! The end result and the time you put in are amazing!

this series is cold hard proof that no matter how hard a franchise falls off, the community will always be around to make it feel like its always been amazing and that nothings changed. what an incredible jaw dropping thing to see after having grown up on this game. this is stunningly beautiful, i wish the remaster looked like this man

This looks amazing. Since you did 1 already, I'll give some places from 2 and TPS. Don't want you to spend too much time so I'll go with smaller places. I would say the safe areas with no enemies like Sanctuary and New haven. Since Sanctuary is in the sky, let's see what happened to Sanctuary Hole. For TPS, how about concordia?
Some places I think would look cool:
Old Haven - BL1
The Rust Commons East and West - BL1
The Vault - BL1
Tundra Express - BL2
The Highlands - BL2 (I know it's a huge map)
Lynchwood - BL2
Opportunity - BL2 (I would love to see what was done with it after Jack died)

Man, I have such good memories of Borderlands 1. I was only 10 years old at the time of release, and I went with my brother, who is 4 years older, and a couple of others from his youth group to the mall an hour away for a shopping day, and we stopped at the EB Games. We did so many playthroughs. Just everything about this game for me has nothing but positive memories, especially the soundtrack. Thanks for the nostalgia trip!

Damn, that's real impressive! Really though you were just gonna rip Fyrestone out from BL1 and just plop it into UE5 with updated lighting and stuff. But naw, my man went above and beyond and placed his own version with story context. That's really cool, and it really captures the BL visual style perfectly.
Only thing that I would have added if I did this is add a hazy/heat fx texture or post processing in the distance. And maybe toss in some random occurrences of wind/sand blowing here and there. But that's just my artist perference.

What amazing work and diligent attention to details! This creative project using Unreal Engine 5 is a pinnacle accomplishment of recreating Fyerstone for a new generation.
i think i'd want to see something from one of the BL1 DLCs. maybe the first town you reach in the Dr. Ned DLC? recreating BL1 environments is better just for how much more they can glow up than maps in the later game

I'll never forget being in college and BL1 drops and I'm hearing on gaming forums about this game that mixes FPS with Diablo-style looting and RPG elements which sounded incredible. My roommate and I must have played this game for 100s of hours cheesing Crawmerax for those juicy pearlescents. I still like to load the game up every year for a trip down memory lane and the game still holds up. Still has the best drops and loot generation of the series, imo, with always giving you great powerful gear (BL2 was too stingey) without overdoing it (BL3 giving you nothing but legendaries). Fond memories.

Man, this brings me back, I didn't start back in 2009 but rather close to BL2's release, and the game grabbed me right from the get go, greeting claptrap at the bus stop, the rather dead and dried atmosphere, I personally hate deserts, but this game did it right, wonderful work, would be amazing to see other places like the Wildlife preserve of BL2 or New Haven from BL1.

It often came to my mind the fact that oportunity and other hyperion maps were left out of the picture after the death of jack , i would realy love to see a borderlands 3 version of The bunker map / oportunity / friendship goolag and other hyperion outposts after the COV takeover and the downfall of hyperion , you did a realy good job with the Arid Nexus btw ! I hope we soon have a mode that makes it payable in BL3

Men,i played borderlands 1 in 2022 after bdls 2 and 3,and i felt very desapointed,i hope we can get a full remake,your work is just great,i like the colours adds and the detailing

Now I'm wishing they would port Borderlands 1 to UE5 for a remastered release. I'd play the hell out of that.
I would genuinely love to get a Borderlands 1 remake in UE5 like how BL3 looked. Update the combat. Update the skill tree's and action skills. Maybe give a mode where you can change whether you want the traditional BL1 experience which would be the same type of combat and skills as the OG BL1, then there would be a new version with the updated combat and skill tree.
The enhanced editions of Bl1 and BL2 were nice, plenty of improvements (especially for BL1), but with BL3, TTW, and the new Tales game all being on par with Pre-Sequel at best, I would want, hope, wish, and expect to get a true remake of BL1 in this way with a complete remaster from the ground up.
A BL2 complete makeover would be nice but BL2 still ages very well and is still playable and optimal (even if certain new features or updates would be great to have), BL1 needs something like this most and it would easily sell in today's market (and after Gearbox's recent shortcomings). It would also be a nice way to promote the Borderlands movie when it comes closer to time for it to release since it is going to feature the original vault hunters and apparently General Knoxx's Daughter.
A remake of the pyramid at the end of captain scarlets DLC or the magnus lighthouse could be cool

I have a simple solution for you my gamer
For the TK Baha's place
If you want people to be able to explore this map as a playable experience, or just to make a video of you walking thru it
You can hide a bunker under the ground and make it so that if people open the door
They get teleported inside the bunker via a teleporter device
Also optionally, you could place down gaurd devices with guards that are retextured as the fortnite Borderlands psyco skin
Then place gaurd devices where COV would spawn
Then the map becomes a fun little game to run around in and kill COV
You could even retexture wolves into skags
And maybe raptors into the Dino things I forgot the name of

You have to remake one map from the claptastic voyage. Maybe overlook as it still has elements of borderlands 2 but glitched out. Plus you can take a creative avenue of showing how the map changed since the presequel.
