Outstanding review. Said all that need to be said and nothing that didn't. Watch manufacturers should kneel with fear before your macro lens, that finishing was totally unacceptable at this price point.
Hafiz, you consistently deliver the most objective, useful, and direct watch reviews to be found anywhere on the Internet. It seems like a simple formula: a little history, a little commentary on design and construction, plenty of wrist shots in different positions and against different colored shirts, detailed macro shots... just exactly what anyone who gave it any thought would create. And yet, you are the only one I have found that delivers the goods.
Hafiz - your video quality and content coverage is one of the best on RUclips. It's hard to find better macro shots than your videos :). Keep killing it bro!!
I bought the Santos recently Thanks to you, I took a loupe and inspected the dial, which was flawless. I showed the salesman your video including the macro shots of the damaged hands. He was shocked and said that should never come out of Cartier and if they had that in store they'd replace it immediately. I suggest taking a loupe with you when you go to buy
If you pay close attention to the video, in particular when the seconds hand is moving, you can notice that the smudges and the debris is on top of the crystal and not inside the watch. The minute hand does look bad though.
I know most of you guys would prefer the white dial medium Santos de Cartier... But holy this blue was always my jam and I prefer it over the more classic white...
Cartier is GOD Tier of all watches! What I don't like about the applied markers is the hidden Cartier on the roman numeral VII or V, otherwise a wonderful piece from the House of Cartier with so much horological history. Because you mentioned it in your video, the FIRST three dive watches date back to 1953 by three watch makers - 1. Rolex Submariner; 2. Zodiac Sea Wolf, and 3. the Blancpain 50 Fathoms. Where both Rolex and Blancpain went lux and high price, Zodiac remains true to their humble roots. Another GREAT vid JM - tku.
Finally! Thank you for this one, i was waiting for it. Thanks for highlight the points that was not on the top, but yes, regardless, it still is the worlds first wrist watch. And look good for the eye from a distance. Great job, well done :)
Every time I see the Large Santos on anyone with a regular/ small wrist, It just looks large. Ended up going with a Medium for my 7” wrist. Iconic watch none the less and great review!
@@n.h187 I don’t think so.. I tried both on in the AD To be sure.. I was wearing a speedmaster 42 that day by the way. And the large really stood out as slightly large. The medium was much cleaner and better sized for the style IMO. I also have a black bay 58, and newest airking I wear. My sweet spot id say is 38-40 usually.
@@Jbcd602 agreed 💯 The large almost looks bigger then a 42 because it's square. I have the medium and I have a 6 and 3/4 inch wrist and it's the one to get. Iconic and stunning piece. They will discontinue that blue as it's just a phase. The white and blue hands 35mm medium is wear it's at, hence the reason I didn't think twice.
Went to buy a medium left with a large. Medium is incredibly small in real life on my 17cm wrist. It was really like trying a lady's watch 😅. Large is perfect; More presence and way more masculine. Medium looks good on Instagram but it's tiny and sI usually hate bigger watch.
No one should be surprised by the blemishes under macro, nor the subpar build quality. Cartier is a jewelry house, not a watch maker after all. Most people don’t want to admit it, but Cartier is the brand that puts the word “fashion” in “fashion watches”.
The medium white dial is the one to get. Such a sleeper in the watch world, knowing the current mania which is ravaging the watch world, long may it continue.
Excellent review! While other channels have a macro presentation you go into all the micro details which I truly appreciate. I’d definitely buy this watch now seeing how you can remove or make adjustments to the bracket so easy. I’d also go with the white dial for better legibility.
This piece for the “price point” outshines most, seriously. It is drop dead gorgeous to look at, different than the normal watches, has history, innovative, to me, easy to read, thin as a slice of butter, can be used casually or for dress. Additionally, most $20K and above watches with a macro lens are not even close to where they should be, perfect. For instance, the royal oak does not even have a quick set date in 2021. The only watch in this price range that is nearly perfect is Grand Seiko. Wonderful review, I think you were very indifferent and highlighted the pros and cons. Great work.
For $20k, you shouldn’t be expecting perfection. Also, AP’s 15300, 15400 and 15500 all have quick set dates. The 15202 doesn’t have it because it uses caliber 2121, which is a JLC movement from the original 5402 kept for heritage purposes.
Been waiting for this review ever since I see you post it on the community post ..I have the same just purchased but in the medium and white dial. The smart link bracelet just takes it to another level. Stunning piece, just not a fan of the dark blue dial, if it was a Vacheron Constantin overseas sun burst blue or a bluesy Sub Rolex suburst dial, it would be more eye catching. The QC issues on this model is not good. Iam so glad I got the medium white dial.
This piece for the price point outshines the Vacheron, seriously. Macro on the Overseas is also disappointing for the price point. With that said, most $20K above with macro are not where they should be, perfect. Wonderful review, I think you were very indifferent and highlighted the pros and cons. Greta work.
Excellent review. The Medium white dial would be the Cartier I’d consider. I’ve seen the large on other people’s wrists and it looks awkwardly big. The macro shots unveiled disappointing quality from a “luxury” brand 🤦🏻♂️.
Elegant piece. I'd go one size down personally on my 6.7 inch wrist but I'd wear that for sure. Bracelet is incredible but I also have become a fan of a taper. Wouldn't kill the deal on a mid size version.... The thinness is lovely. Only a column wheel chronograph is excusable over 13mm. Everything else needs a thin eta if the in house is tall as heck...(eh hem...Tudor)
I prefer the cartier santos in large. The medium looks bigger on wrist shots.. but if you try it on and look at yourself in the mirror and see it with your whole body, its too smaaaalll for me at least. like the dial is almost only as big as the fingernail on your thumb.......
Very nice watch with a poorly made dial indeed. I would love to see a review of Chopard alpine eagle 41mm. I like that watch very much and hope you'll make one day a video with it
Hey Hafiz you make the best watch videos on RUclips!! Thank you! Funny I just wanted to write you and request a Santos de Cartier video 😅 I think this piece is too big. I love the midsize Santos 💙😍
Nice looking watch. I love how it wraps around the wrist in an ergonomic way. Tool free adjustment of the bracelet and strap switching is state of the art. My only concern is that the movement is fairly average having only 42 hours of reserve which is behind even Tissot and Rado these days. Perhaps it’s just meant for a special occasion one off wear. I like the black out version for the lume. But overall it’s a lot of tech for the money and away from the gravitational pull of all things Rolex which has become something of a running joke in recent years.
Your videos are just fantastic. The Cartier is a very beautiful watch with an independent design, but the quality of workmanship is far from the price range.
Very nice review Hafiz, under the macro, Cartier needs to be more careful in their finishing, more if you think in the heritage of the brand, and the price you have to pay for the watch.
