- This interview is why I keep doing this. Julien Baker is probably one of the most humble, tender, and emotional inteligent artists I have ever had the pleasure to meet. We ended up in a pariking lot, to run away from the noise of the Festival, and ended up trading ideas about life, faith, redemption, literature. I could have been there all day and night just chatting with her. Thank you for this opportunity. I hope you feel it, as much as we did.
The interview took place at NOS Primavera Sound Porto 2017 for Altamont
Every time I watch an interview with her I want to go buy new books.
Everytime I hear Julien speak I fall more in love with her. What a brilliant, rare mind
Protect her at all costs
Yo, my left ear freaking loved this interview
real😭
being born provides for the opportunity for disappointment. hoping keeps a reason to go on even through the ultimate diosapointment
I feel like this is such an emotional interview. I love this journalist so much, she's been fighting cancer and she never stopped working and she makes the most beautiful interviews... thank you so much for giving us these moments, Vera! We love you
I just want her to talk to me all the time
Julien is so articulate! I forgot I had to read 100 years of solitude in high school
I love it when interviewers get along with the person they're interviewing
I think everyone gets along with Julien Baker
This was one of the greatest interviews I've seen of any music artist. Such great questions, and Julien is truly an amazing individual.
4:35 i love the way she frames hope here
4:00 - 6:00 SO MUCH YES!
It's so nice to hear her talk about literature. You did an amazing job :
Waynes Manalang hi! She mainly talks about authors, she mentions "100 Years of Solitude" from Gabriel Garcia Marquez specifically. She mentions, Garcia Lorca, Cervantes (Don Quixote), José Martí a Cuban poet, North American Toni Morrison she has great novels and won a Nobel... I don't, probably a few more :)
Also Jorges Louis Borges & Jose Marti
An interview, that transcends interviews, transitions into a beautiful exchange of ideas- conversation- sharing, state of FLOW.....Thank you very much.
so many of my favorite artists mentioned in one interview (julien, leonard cohen, lorca, marquez, toni morrison...) so beautiful to see how they all connect across the years
what a fantastic interview. Julien is such an inspiring character
I tried to walk on my sprained ankle and it only got worse...that's when I realized it was actually broken. Yay
#winning
this is probably the best interview i've heard/seen my whole life.
i keep coming back to it every few months and always get something new out of it.
thanks for sharing this amazing conversation with the world!
i think this is one of the best interviews of any artist i've ever seen! i love the laid back nature of it. i don't want to make assumptions, but i can guess this is because of Portugal's more relaxed culture? when i visited Italy, this was of a similar vibe/nature. not to mention the host of this interview was extremely well informed and prepared and asked very generous questions! totally favoriting this to come back and watch in the future
I don't think there is any trick except to love what you do and respect the artist, and that happens in any culture. Thank you so much for watching :)
VERAcity thank you for creating this content! ☺️
This is the best interview to watch, thanks!
Well, I consider myself rather cynical but I wouldn't say there is no point in trying to be moral. Even though it might be futile, I'll just try it just for the sake of it.
thank you for this interview!
Wonderful
Julien's an absurdist? Maybe I really am on the right life path.
hope is a dangerous thing :(
party in the left earbud
Somebody tell her to cover play crack the sky or the boy who blocked his own shot by Brand New!
I don't know if it's just my phone but there is only sound for parts of the video. Too bad, the parts i could hear were very good
Ella Sjöholm I believe the sound is back on, RUclips shut it due to licensing rights. I don't know if they'll do it again.
let her talk!, why they putting her music over her interview
I can’t hear anything except certain parts. Is there another video with different sound quality?
Elizabeth Martin I believe the sound is back on, RUclips shut it due to licensing rights. I don't know if they'll do it again.
Before her Julien Baker, Courtney Barnett, before her Sharon Von Etten before her Feist?? Im seeing a theme folks.
Hows that for cynical?!😐
No sound
such an awkward interview lol julian looks uncomfy but not her fault at all if u know what i mean
FirstTImeFishing Did you watch the same interview as I did? This was great... amazing content. And JuliEn wasn't uncomfortable at all, I got the opposite feeling entirely
