I think it's because the game actually kind of dodges for you, I realized that if I dodged just a little bit later than I normally do the perfect dodge worked way better, a lot of times it felt like the circle thing showed up before I pressed the Dodge button, it's a bit odd but once you get used to it it's the easiest dodging out of any game I've played.
Interesting to hear. I personally play a lot of timing based games, particularly the best comparable here would be something like Platinum, and I'd like to say I'm decent at those. I think the mechanic "works," but I found it extremely inconsistent in how it was pulled off.
@@retrorebound8887 The problem i you are pressing the dodge button at all before the circle appears. The time stop happens automatically. you don't press the button at all until the circle appears. they tell you this in the tutorial

Which when you remember this game also got a NEO:TWEWY collab, the even LARGER jarring effect of them using what looks to be even worst character models to try and fit in with Reynatis`s design hits even harder in a worst way, especially when you remember NEO:TWEWY having far better visuals and atleast a good visual aestic going for it to blend well even when it used more 3D type assets inplace of its original entry`s motifs.
The thing about the absorb while in suppression is that you literally have to do nothing. It's automatic you just stand there and when the circle appears hold the button. Trust me even with the tutorial I didn't get it at first.

It’s just hard to unlearn the instincts from 99.9% of games and I think it a bit of a lofty goal to try and get people to unlearn decades worth of standard mechanics for your low budget action RPG. yup, like reynatis is a good game to play along side with one more "mainstream" i guess, have good story and music, the combat have good ideas, not that polished and well build but do its job. i think some people puts too much hype because this or that person but forget that a game is made of tons of people .
If you have a magic meter that stops you from attacking if you run out then isn't it on you the player to keep an eye on it? Or is it like I used magic for 5 seconds but now can't do anything for 5 minutes.
The combat is fast paced combo action, you’re gonna be running out of mana a lot since you’re attacks take up mana to use and so does your skills, think of it like the action gauge in the tales games, but instead it refills slow and you have to perfect dodge if you want to get back in the action immediately, it’s not a very good system for what they were going for
The point is thar be a difference between running out of magic and having your damage/actions `nerfed` when dried out (Stamina bars in general for these types of games) and running out of magic and then straight up forced to completely go passive and play a mini-game like your playing an action version of `turn trading` between Offensive & defensive roles. Except the opponent HAS NO TURN TRADING because they can just attack as often as they want no punishment system in place, despite the story implies they should be affected by the same rules as you. If they optimized it like an actual stamina bar system where you are heavily punished for letting it completely dry out, without needing to toggle it, then it would just be no different then playing a dark-souls/monster hunter or similar type game where it was probably trying to look fancy with having it be a toggle with extra annoying conditions to hurrying things up. Which if it has a skill tree to just vastly speed up regeneration to where you dont need to care about `mana drain dodges much anymore, just kills its design by putting in a problem then eliminating the problem by end-game to make it just play like a standard stamina-system based game.
It’s not that bad. The only way you’re struggling like he claims he was is if you ability spam because I’ve only really seen this while running through level 95+ challenge fogs as I spam ranged attacks until the mana is off and then switch and repeat, because I can’t be arsed to go through these boring forests any other way after 30ish hours. A proper counter will generally fill at least half of the MP bar and if you time it perfectly it will fill the whole thing.
I’m glad I found a guide to get to level 99 quickly. Hopefully that’s in the beginning of the game where you lightning strike the 2 big dudes near a save.
13:17 so one thing I found out is, you don’t *have* to librate during a random encounter. You can run away and after a while the fight will disengage, sure- you gain some stress and don’t get any drops/rewards from it but- better if you are in a bad spot.
to be honest, with almost 28 years of gaming I did enjoy the demo and will play the full version. even if the visuals are not a AAAA Game level, I think I will enjoy it more then a new ubisoft or EA game.
What does this game have to do with a Ubisoft or EA game? It's a nonsensical comparison. Also the fact that the graphics are bad is far from being the only problem with the game, not even the worst.
@@Trederator5876He just compared different in general. That's not nonsensical in that case. Most Ubisoft games are quite similar in many ways. And a lot EA games, too, while they mostly have all good graphics and animations, etc. Reynatis looks quite cheap, but is still nore fun in the persons eyes. Idk how I can describe it better as the original meaning should be understandable already.
I like what i played on switch the only thing i hate is that the lock-on, when done, the camera does not follow the target at all. Makes it hard to pull off combos. And sometimes the switching targets unlocks the target and will not move to another enemy.
If you hold and release RIGHT BEFORE the circle is full, it would work for me 100% of the time. It is frustrating since the tutorial does say WHEN its full.
I played the demo, the combat is snappy and feels great, perfect dodge is not communicated well in the tutorial, you can not press dodge until the circle appears. It works consistently. Shame that this review is influencing cancels, I say try the demo yourself to see if you like the combat. I am aware the stages are repetitive and dull, but combat and bosses is enough for me to play it on release.
@baboiminionbaboi4822 yep I bought it too, the dodge mechanic gets crazy fun when there's a lot of enemies and projectiles, I hope there's some cool boss fights that make use of the mechanic.
Also just romancing saga 2 remastered which is on switch, though RS3 might be a better starting point for people who haven't played much of the series Can't wait for the remake
I tried the demo and I thought it was pretty good, it took me a bit to get the hang of the perfect dodge system but by the end of the demo I was doing it all the time, and honestly I think the graphics are fine, they're like a micro step up from 6th gen console graphics but they're serviceable.
I enjoyed it but I don't mind the "budget" look of it. Pre-ordered the limited edition and looking forward to it. Don't know anything about the series so this is my first entry into it.
I try to keep my expectations reasonable too, but I really did dig both Caligula Effect games. I feel they've had some challenges with the transition to action. This game did make me want to see how Monark resonates with me. What's more interesting is that they are able to keep making games. Not rooting for their closure/downfall, but there has to be a lot of people playing these games to justify them continuing to be made.
Im a sucker for janky action rpgs that how I found nier 1 when I was younger and I will be getting this I believe in their idea and want to support them
So I just got the game, and I wonder if you skipped the tutorial or it didn't have a tutorial during pre-release, because it explains pretty clearly how the dodging works. You're basically supposed to switch between an offensive and defensive mode throughout combat. When you get attacked in defensive mode, the game basically goes on easy mode with a slowdown for dodging. The dodging was designed for people that aren't good at action games. It's almost like a turnbased game in defensive mode and you wait for the slowdown and prompt. Build up the meter from dodges then unleash a flurry of attacks with the burst, then switch back to defensive. It's a rhythmic thing so you're not just pressing attack mindlessly. I think it's actually kind of genius. It feels like an evolution of Final Fantasy XV's combat. In FFXV you held square to go on the offensive, and circle to go defensive(autododging), this is that but you press a button to toggle between modes and it's a bit more involved with some timing to the button presses and managing meters.
Just finished up this game and got the platinum and there's a few thoughts. One the mp absorption thing was not communicated well at all, it only works of you literally stand still and wait for the attack to come to you and even then it's still inconsistent. As for the malice meter, it is bad but for a different reason. It doesn't increase/decrease based on the random encounters it is solely tied to main/side quest completion. The more you complete the lower the malice. However this also impacts it negatively as most quests lower it so little that youre basically at the end of the game before you can get most of the meaningful upgrades that are basically locked behind doing every side quest for a slight damage increase
Thanks as always for your honest take, Matty. I know it's tough when the game is from a small, scrappy company that we really want to succeed. By the way, happy to hear a shoutout for Conscript!
I don't think this looks like anything from the PS2 era, but more like a Switch game. From the demo, I didn't feel it was terrible, but it definitely could've been a better game. Maybe worth trying when it's on sale.
It looks and feels like a PSP or PSVITA game got a remaster, but only touched slightly graphically. Like the game looks good ish if that's the case, but it's still jank.
I thought the 2 modes would be lame but its not bad. The dodge is so easy i haven't missed a single dodge which refills magic to full. Its OP and suprisingly fun. I dig this game despite the small scope and budget.
Honestly this game looks great even based on what you said. It's probably going to be kind of thing I love despite being hated although I suppose I have a knack for that
Freedom wars getting a remaster is honestly a better example of something to wait for instead of this, considering i never played the original freedom wars. but certainly far more damn impressive when you remember THAT game came out on the Playstation Vita, 10 freaking years ago and we are gonna get a remaster of it. The graphics style almost looks similar but you can see far better design on a UNMaSTERED 2014 game since the characters actually have bones for the facial animations, eyes and mouths moving for those cutscenes, plus its UI is actually nicely stylized in that same kind of portable console flair of fun you see with games like the Monster Hunter series, the God Eater series and many others that especially were titles that came out specific for those generation of consoles. Especially when you realize that game has fun mechanics like having a thorn like bracelet on your arm and using it as a freaking grappling hook to rush or traversal and even before Monster Hunter Worlds was a thing it was a nice early example of doing fun crap like tethering to giant enemies/surfaces and unloading rounds or stabbing/slashing stuff. Oh and throw in the whole story premise being way more unique by being people just start with a ridiculously high prison sentence at birth and they gotta `work it off` thar entire life, instead of your typical `magic is bad story` that i seen re-used way too often in plenty of media as a typical basic plot to just have a setting for characters doing ridiculous stuff, but likely due to poor animation work, whether its as an anime, manga or game, ends up looking worst then Gmod amateur hour for a number of them.`
@@BladeSerph I've played plenty of freedom wars back in its original days. It's not a game I would ever want to purchase again I enjoyed it but I have no interest in going back
@@iceclkeyheart3060 Im definitely familiar of the design and likely the motif would likely be as dead as God eater 3 when it first released because the dated design would especially compare in more open world`ish type games of much higher mobility like monster hunter worlds/rise/soon-to-be-wilds. But if we are talking about games with very old design like they were from PS2 era or so consoles, i would definitely say Freedom wars visually looks much damn better (when you remember Playstation portable Vita is still pretty close to playstation portable in terms of its elements) and a nice example of sometimes you dont need to put a bunch of random B.S. to be appealing and a grounded design can be more fun. Granted, Freedom wars as a MH-like, is more in line with a multi player game while Reynatis is more in line with a Knock-off Kingdomhearts/Final Fantasy XV game... But if i have to pick specifically from games this company supposedly made, i would say Monark and Cagliostro effect definitely hold up way damn better because the transition from turn based to action is really showing the flop problems like they were taking specifically from kingdom hearts 2/3 design with how floatie the characters end up looking in a bad way for one example. Doesnt help either when i looked up the final boss stuff and it just looks terrible in many ways, that it doesnt help it re-ignited my memories of grand blue fantasy Re:Link`s Bahamut Versa fight and how it almost looked like some horribly optimized Demake knock off that my brain couldnt get away from it. Which if i had to go further back then Kingdom hearts 358/2 days final boss fight is the best way i could do a `closer` comparison and considering thats a freaking Nintendo DS game that never got a proper remaster, really goes to show how bad Reynatis is looking when its more comparable to a nintendo DS game of all things due to the very terrible block-iness im seeing.
This isn’t the kind of review you want to make, but sometimes it’s the one you need to make nonetheless. Seriously appreciate the honest insights. I was hopeful about this one largely because of the seeming Square Enix vote of confidence/support (which now just baffles me a bit), but then I played the demo and my reaction was oh, oh no. This does not feel good or look good and fundamentally is not designed well - and the reviews are affirming that. I think everything you said was delivered with respect and no malice - you’re helping to inform potential buyers while offering insight for this/any other developer willing to listen
@@mooserocka522 I just mean it’s not fun to have to come down hard on a game you were potentially excited for, only to find that it’s very disappointing, especially from a small dev. Not saying don’t be critical or honest - just sucks when a game doesn’t shape up the way you’d hoped so you have to 1. Play through that frustrating content and then 2. Put out a negative review
Yeah I was one of them. Too bad I won't have mattys help me with my decision towards crystar or monark. Though granted with how reputable these furyu games are I don't I'll have trouble judging their worth. The end seems clear for them, out the wishlist. Nonetheless I will be accurate in judgement
Thanks for the the review, I think I will still check the game out when it is on sale. I still consider it super interesting, graphic, story and gameplay wise. I hope it gets support with updates/content.
I love that you compare the graphics to an updated PS2 I like it honestly. In all it's faults that you point out it gives it it's charm. I think that Reynatis is a good game and a nice refresher from a sea of modern games with complicated mechanics and Triple A production values that overshadow gameplay. For that reason I hated another JRPG Tales of Arise for it's more complicated battle system, new rules, and a departure from the classic battle system we all know and love.
Would like to agree but doesn’t seem to be the case since they’ve consistently made the same mistakes (and made some gameplay elements worse) within their last 3 games straight.
This is good advice for a singular person when they stumble, but it hust doesn't work when you're a company like this. If this game fails, there's a very real chance they shut down tbh
To be fair. I knew the devs were new and I got indie vibes from it when it was announced. I wasn’t expecting it to be big at all. Hoping it would be entertaining at least. There were some big names attached to it. Which were probably there to help jumpstart this new team.
Reynatis didn't have the budget it needed to be a smash hit, but I see serious potential in it. I get the ideas they were going for. I totally respect your opinions, but I think this game is worth supporting, and I kinda like janky action RPGs. They remind me of scavenging for smaller budget RPGs in the PS2 era. I appreciate that you know when to hold back and not be too unkind. Most reviewers don't make that effort. 🎉
Aw that’s sad to hear. I remember being hyped since it was announced, played the Demo at Pax and had fun. But yeah I probably won’t pick up the final game
20 hours into the full release and half way through the game. I'm 36 And this game brought me back to PS2 era jank. It's so shamless I almost wonder if it's intentional. I'm enjoying the game like I'm 15 again.
I tried the demo yesterday; no wonder the attack is not working. I just find that the forced paused QTE dodge is super annoying and choking. There's no way I will play a game like this.
I tried the demo very quickly felt this was not going to be fun once i realized your ability to attack relies on your mana. a game that pulls you out of combat during combat centric gameplay was a red flag for me. it really is sad because the combat feels very snappy and good. I do agree with the dodge stuff you said i found to have some of the same issues. I think this review was good and was pretty accurate.
Its wild that people are acting like this game is awful... its not great but its not awful... these youtubers have convinced people that if a gave isnt a 9 or 10 than its automatically awful
I agree..but it's not all RUclipsrs but most of these bigger RUclipsrs are just sheep and feel like they have to agree with each other on what's trash. the game is a clear 7 or 8.
I’d give it a 6 or so. It has some great ideas, but could’ve used a bigger budget. I bet money that’s what is holding the devs back. Not worth full price, but I’m glad I played it. I was only frustrated for the first few chapters, once Owl is introduced and things kick off with all 6 characters I was hooked plot wise. Does it do the potential justice? Not really, but I like it. This dude is a clown 5:43 is the biggest example of “I’m looking for anything to complain about.” It’s literally just an eye. 👁️ did that emoji also rip off that game? No. The only similarity beyond being an eye is the color red and white oh wow. 🙄It’s actually insulting to the game he’s saying it’s a rip of because it has a lot more effort put into it.
hello, aaah im playing reynatis on switch and im lv43 (with most of of the chars) , besides the performance for obvious reasons, the game is very enjoyable,a little behind of Ys series, my only problem with the game is the fights inside "the dominus forest" and "another" stages because sometimes happens in a corridor and if you accidentally go out of the invisible border of the arena you basically cancels the fight and the potential XP and materials.
Yea I played the demo I don’t know the controls for the combat does not feel good but at the same time it does look flashy which I do like it’s not the mechanics of the game. I think it’s just the layout for the controls which is why I didn’t have a good time. Still a good looking game though. Like Interested to see the abilities where the story lies ahead yk
This game may have a lot of issues, and most people would write this off as a kusoge But it feels like it was made for me, it's just a PS2 era feeling game with that gameplay and aesthetics, i can;'t help but vibe with it I wouldn't call it a particularly great game, but for a few select people like me who miss that edgy visuals and simple designs from those old days this is gonna feel very nostalgic.
The art direction and the music has ALL the sauce, and the world is definitely super interesting… I think FuRyu is fully capable of delivering something incredible. …but man the gameplay, in-game models, and animations just can’t keep up with the vision. Something definitely got lost in execution. It feels less like a low-budget blanket focused albeit simple goals and more like a more like a rushed poor-quality quilt of stitched inspired ideas. The art team delivers so hard… but the dev and asset creative side needs a champion or two of who know exactly how to program and execute the kind of game this wants to be.
Skill issue lol but yeah most NIS published games look like PS2-PSP games. I don’t mind the visuals personally, I grew up on consoles older than that generation of visuals.
Sadge... I got super excited when i heard that the game took massive inspiration from final fantasy vs 13. I had hoped this would finally satisfy my year long awaiting of the never to be released game. Even the staff behind it sounded promising with people who worked on ffvs13 also working on this one. Well i will wait for an sale and buy it just for the experience.
Played the demo the other day, it's rough. I felt that it was a wait for it to be a $10 game on sale type of game. The game does make Burger King have a returning presence back into video games though. Caught me a bit off guard seeing that in this game, I'd buy the game sometime later on, for that alone. 😆😆😆
Adidas and BK are not the only 2 brands, they are the only western ones I could see from the footage shared. There is some JPN ones as well in there. Good question on sponsorship/funding though
Bad review from you man lol Just played the game and it's not bad all, the timing is also super easy but it might've been updated since you've played it last. Gonna have to agree with the other comments here, the graphics are dated but nothing to choke on about.
so basically a ps2 version of a scrapped Final Fantasy Versus XIII, with all the things that wouldnt stick together and which its why KH its on a limbo and XV its a complete different game
Sounds like the MP system has a glitch or something. One'd think that the perfect dodge would be the one thing that the game tries to nail down since the rest of the combat relies on it.
That or retro’s style of play is the rub. For me, I stick to toggling suppression and librated, especially after I drilled the perfect dodge activation in the demo. In my experience, the magic circle will automatically activate and pause time in suppression and you just need to hold a button down until it’s full to activate the magic draining/armor breaking perfect dodge. I’ve even gotten so good at it I can’t seem to get anything less than 5-stars. But, if all else fails they *did* have a dlc wizart that auto-perfect dodges for anyone unable to get the timing down.
So i played the demo and the visuals were... well not the best but i could over look it for the gameplay and sadly the gameplay wasn't really pulling me in, i just found it boring and easy most of the time, maybe the full game might have more depth but from ive played of the demo? im gonna pass on this for now. It didnt really grab me at all but! I think it will do enough to find its core audience, i just hope that if they get another game, they get more budget for better visuals.
It looks more like a PS3 game to me, and alot of PS2 games look good anyways, it's suppose to be more cell shaded, not full blown 3d looking. Now the gameplay seems annoying, it kind of reminds me of that one 3D Contra Rogue Corps where the gun has to charge, people didn't like that, but gameplay is not everything, the art style looks cool, I'm still gonna try it.
If I had to pin it somewhere graphically, its looks like a really flat and cheap Nier Automata at the best of times and like a late era obscure PS3 game at the best of times (think Drakengard 3).
I personally enjoyed it. I really dont care much about graphics if the game is fun. However i do feel it definitely isnt worth $60. I'll say more like $30
Maybe combat is designed so you don’t spam stuff. Conserve mana. And this mechanic is punishment for not playing as intended, trying to teach you hey maybe shouldnt run out because this is what happens. See time and time again folks bash games because they don’t understand the mechanic/gameplay design and those don’t enjoy themselves because it doesn’t flow right.
If this game had been good We would all be saying “oh man the art style is so good Such a bold choice” We shouldn’t even include art style in a review Everyone sees it differently and it is 100% subjective. If the game were good No one would be ripping the art style I guarantee it I mean I’ve never even heard of the game And I can tell that this game looks way beyond anything the ps2 was capable of. It’s not even close Ps2 games look horrendous when you see them now I’m objective because I’ve never heard of this game and sure it doesn’t look great I guess But again, if it reviewed well Everyone would say the art style is unique and bold
The thing is not that he didn't think it was a masterpiece, but rather that he thought it was a genuinely bad game (something I agree with after having played the demo), I don't understand why people like you think that those who People who criticize a game always think like that, it's not that we want every game to be a masterpiece, we just want it to be minimally decent, and if it's a bad game it has to be said. Also I don't understand the need for you to say that you are going to play it anyway, no one cares if you are gonna buy the game or not, anyone spends their money the way they want.

@@DionysosDrinker Ummm the game is done. The servers are already offline. How can you play it?
What does this game have to do with a Ubisoft or EA game? It's a nonsensical comparison. Also the fact that the graphics are bad is far from being the only problem with the game, not even the worst.
@@Ok_Eul-Tae what servers are you talking about. 💀 It's a singleplayer game which isn't even out (outside of Japan I think)
@@teufelsschnitzel8708 Replied on the wrong video😅
The time stop thing happens automatically if you're supressed, to get the bonus you need to wait for the circle to fill and then press dodge.
I like what i played on switch the only thing i hate is that the lock-on, when done, the camera does not follow the target at all. Makes it hard to pull off combos. And sometimes the switching targets unlocks the target and will not move to another enemy.
yup, pretty annoying so i equiped nika with gravity and thunder demon to buy time to position myself
The visuals when you're in Shibuya looked good, but the forest level looked pretty bland
Yeah also the walktrough going back aftter reaching the gate was awful
@@Jaroartx For real. That's when I just closed the demo
So bad tutorial huh.
@BladeMasterIcarus yep if they disabled your ability to dodge in that part of the tutorial, I think it would explain how it works better.
tbh I bought the full game for the NTWEWY quest, but from what I’ve played so far it’s actually really fun
@baboiminionbaboi4822 yep I bought it too, the dodge mechanic gets crazy fun when there's a lot of enemies and projectiles, I hope there's some cool boss fights that make use of the mechanic.
Something about that forest level near the end of the video gave me some serious PTSD flashbacks to Drakengard 3 jank
I respect ur review on the game.
But im definitely gonna still play it.
No one cares you didn’t have to say that, and that’s not me being mean. If you wanna play it do.
@jaioncebollero1168 he didn't say anything cringe or controversial. I think you're reaching 🤨
That's cool with me. Appreciate you stopping by and hope you enjoy the game :)
@jaioncebollero1168 yea idk what ur problem is...im just stating my opinion like everyone else.
Calm ya tits bruh.
@kcelenemkrishnan7778 he reaching hard bro.
All i said was i respect my guys review on the game.
But i'ma still play it....tf is wrong with that?
You need to try romancing Saga 2 remake demo!
It’s better than I expected!
Dude, I finished it earlier this morning...It's fucking legit.
I downloaded it. I'm excited to check it out now
hope that comes to Xbox
Also just romancing saga 2 remastered which is on switch, though RS3 might be a better starting point for people who haven't played much of the series
Can't wait for the remake
@jimmythegamer2231
If it's any consolation, the remaster of the 2D version is on Xbox
I tried the demo and I thought it was pretty good, it took me a bit to get the hang of the perfect dodge system but by the end of the demo I was doing it all the time, and honestly I think the graphics are fine, they're like a micro step up from 6th gen console graphics but they're serviceable.
Gonna be a cult classic like "The Bouncer"
I enjoyed it but I don't mind the "budget" look of it. Pre-ordered the limited edition and looking forward to it. Don't know anything about the series so this is my first entry into it.
It’s Furyu. I try to keep my expectations low. What the need is better budgeting.
I don't know what you played but for a double A game, almost indie, it is a superlative Jrpg, incredibly well made
This video made me order the game. This is exactly the kind of imperfect gem I was looking for. Thanks!
Im a sucker for janky action rpgs that how I found nier 1 when I was younger and I will be getting this I believe in their idea and want to support them
That's a very similar story to me and probably why I look forward to FuRyu games. Enjoy the game!
Good effort trying for 15 hours before stopping Matty 💪
From the moment I saw screenshots one thing stuck in my head: "We have Final Fantasy Versus XIII at home."
Thanks as always for your honest take, Matty. I know it's tough when the game is from a small, scrappy company that we really want to succeed.
By the way, happy to hear a shoutout for Conscript!
Yeah, not fun. I hope their next game is better.
Also, yeah, Conscript rules!
I mean, it's Furyuu, I don't expect too much from them.
I thought the 2 modes would be lame but its not bad. The dodge is so easy i haven't missed a single dodge which refills magic to full. Its OP and suprisingly fun. I dig this game despite the small scope and budget.
I played the demo. It's not exactly a finished product. The tutorial level was unnecessary.
I'm glad I read the comments before I started this video.
What do you mean ? You always want to make it so people don’t waste money on it what is wrong with people so afraid to say something is bad.
Why does it feel like he was not paying attention when playing the game?
That's weird. The perfect dodge worked for me every time no problem
I might pick the game up if it goes on sale in the future. I'm limited in terms of game money, so I have to be selective in what I buy.
I like Caligula Effect 1 and 2, then Trinity Trigger. That's all. Their games are a hit or miss, sadly.
They tried that’s all that matters they did not stick the landing but there is always next time Learn from your mistakes and move on
Would like to agree but doesn’t seem to be the case since they’ve consistently made the same mistakes (and made some gameplay elements worse) within their last 3 games straight.
This is good advice for a singular person when they stumble, but it hust doesn't work when you're a company like this. If this game fails, there's a very real chance they shut down tbh
But this company has done this multiple times
Let's not forget that companies who released successful, good, games were also shut down despite literally being told their game was a success
Imbecile
They’ve done this multiple times. If this was some other studio, you’ll be trashing them lol
People don’t really enjoy anything anymore it seems.
Thank you for this review! I had no clue this game is so.poor...I'm subscribing as you saved me good money. Looking g forward to your new content!😮
hello,
aaah im playing reynatis on switch and im lv43 (with most of of the chars) , besides the performance for obvious reasons, the game is very enjoyable,a little behind of Ys series, my only problem with the game is the fights inside "the dominus forest" and "another" stages because sometimes happens in a corridor and if you accidentally go out of the invisible border of the arena you basically cancels the fight and the potential XP and materials.
This game may have a lot of issues, and most people would write this off as a kusoge
But it feels like it was made for me, it's just a PS2 era feeling game with that gameplay and aesthetics, i can;'t help but vibe with it
I wouldn't call it a particularly great game, but for a few select people like me who miss that edgy visuals and simple designs from those old days this is gonna feel very nostalgic.
Matty, that Tomie shirt is peak. Hope you're as excited for Uzumaki as I am!
Well i will wait for an sale and buy it just for the experience.
yeah the 60$ price really has my rolling my eyes over it. i want to play it but its not worth that price point.
Im gonna pick it up on sale I think. I had it preordered and cancelled for now. Not a full price launch game.
Just looking at the trailer i knew it would be terrible. Big empty town lackluster combat
Why I never heard of this game until now
It does look rough around the edges, but I'll play it regardless ❤
Played the demo the other day, it's rough.
I felt that it was a wait for it to be a $10 game on sale type of game.
The game does make Burger King have a returning presence back into video games though. Caught me a bit off guard seeing that in this game, I'd buy the game sometime later on, for that alone. 😆😆😆
The timing on the circle isn't hard, just do it slightly earlier.
Thanks matty. Great review. Sad, I was excited for this. I'll check out the demo.
Also Furyu is first and foremost a Figure company breaking out into other things.
im still very inclined to support the game because of the passion, just wish it wasnt full price for such a low budget project :/
Adidas and BK are not the only 2 brands, they are the only western ones I could see from the footage shared. There is some JPN ones as well in there. Good question on sponsorship/funding though
Interesting! Didn't know that about the JP brands. Makes you wonder and I could see them getting scrappy in that way to ensure funding.
Bad review from you man lol Just played the game and it's not bad all, the timing is also super easy but it might've been updated since you've played it last. Gonna have to agree with the other comments here, the graphics are dated but nothing to choke on about.
The comparison with Bayonetta isn't really working for anyone who has played Climax mode. Bayonetta is completely fine without witch-time.
It’s a heartslike . Give it a chance
I think you were on the money tried the demo a few days ago and was so surprised at finding all those issues. Literally canceled my preorder.
hi matty when wil lyou do a review on spiderman friend or foe
so basically a ps2 version of a scrapped Final Fantasy Versus XIII, with all the things that wouldnt stick together and which its why KH its on a limbo and XV its a complete different game
Sad.
I was looking forward to this... Had the limited edition ordered from NIS... might be the first time I cancel from them... Sigh.
I would say try the demo and go from there :)
Bummer was routing for this one. Like those mid-tier RPG's every so often.
Will you be reviewing Y's Nordics this upcoming october?
It looks more like a PS3 game to me, and alot of PS2 games look good anyways, it's suppose to be more cell shaded, not full blown 3d looking. Now the gameplay seems annoying, it kind of reminds me of that one 3D Contra Rogue Corps where the gun has to charge, people didn't like that, but gameplay is not everything, the art style looks cool, I'm still gonna try it.
FF12 looks better than some modern games today. I really dislike people dismissing a game for its graphics. So zoomerish
If I had to pin it somewhere graphically, its looks like a really flat and cheap Nier Automata at the best of times and like a late era obscure PS3 game at the best of times (think Drakengard 3).
Crazy because Steam reviews says very positive
So apparently it gets better after the half way point, so right after where you stopped it gets better. I didn’t play the game just reading reviews
I personally enjoyed it. I really dont care much about graphics if the game is fun. However i do feel it definitely isnt worth $60. I'll say more like $30
The game is not that bad I'm enjoying it. It's not a AAA game but play better than alot of them.
yeah I don't know... I think this review is rather harsh...
I watch the gameplay showcase and tutorial part. I don't feel the mechanics and flow of combat.
have u seen monark visuals man?
Got that impression from the demo footage i saw. Disappointing to say the least.
So a discount Astral Chain ? 🤔 Astral Chain is great though
Thank you , I bought today
Noooo, Stop!!
Never even heard of this game or studio.
Love your vids Matty keep it up always
If this game had been good We would all be saying “oh man the art style is so good Such a bold choice”
We shouldn’t even include art style in a review Everyone sees it differently and it is 100% subjective. If the game were good No one would be ripping the art style I guarantee it
I mean I’ve never even heard of the game And I can tell that this game looks way beyond anything the ps2 was capable of. It’s not even close Ps2 games look horrendous when you see them now I’m objective because I’ve never heard of this game and sure it doesn’t look great I guess But again, if it reviewed well Everyone would say the art style is unique and bold
Versus XIII but FuRyu
I'll just wait for KH4😅😂😂
I feel this game suffers from the sh2 effect where youd probably apriciate the game if youd get ir free and or on sale.
I don't care, i will play it anyways i loved the demo, not every game has to be a masterpiece and people really forget that
This is one of my biggest issues with Matty's reviews. There no in-between with him
The thing is not that he didn't think it was a masterpiece, but rather that he thought it was a genuinely bad game (something I agree with after having played the demo), I don't understand why people like you think that those who People who criticize a game always think like that, it's not that we want every game to be a masterpiece, we just want it to be minimally decent, and if it's a bad game it has to be said.
Also I don't understand the need for you to say that you are going to play it anyway, no one cares if you are gonna buy the game or not, anyone spends their money the way they want.
@@CodyMattwes you don't care but here you are writing a bible, sure dude.
