    Agree with you on Musical Exchanges. Cracking shop. It was massive. Staff were very helpful. I used to travel down there from North Wales. Sad to see it close.
    Recently I was looking to buy a good guitar for my son's fortieth birthday. We visited PMT in Manchester. Not impressed. Place was like a fridge. My sons hands were freezing, so he was struggling to play properly. There was no heating on and the place is large warehouse. We had to continually ask staff to take guitars off the wall, cos you weren't allowed. Then they'd wander off. We then had to try and find another member of staff to put the guitar back. We gave up and went to Forsythes in Manchester. What a difference. Warm and inviting. Staff could not have been more helpful. They have sound proof rooms. Gave us four guitars to try out. Three different amps in the little room we were in. Left us to try them all out. In the end we bought a gorgeous Gordon Smith custom tele for £1,600; including a hard GS flight case. My budget was £2,000. The money could have gone to PMT. Their loss. By the way, the Gordon Smith is far better built than all the Fender American Pro series tele's we tried. And it's hand made in the UK.

    Wirral-it’s here that lives in Massachusetts. Guitar Center employees definitely seem like they would rather be doing anything else than being employed at this store for sure.

      If I worked in a guitar shop, I'd think it was the coolest job in the world!

      @@MarcGuitarVideos I want a professional 2 telecaster Miami Blue; I asked the manger at Altos music, if I could get a job there to pay off the guitar and hopefully get a discount ❗️🤣😂

    Interesting video Marc. I thought it was just Scotland. I will never go into a guitar shop again, they just suck big time. All the guitars are so poorly set up it's a waste of time to try them, and the staff just don't do customer service. I have found a manufacturer I trust in G&L, and I am well capable of setting up my own guitars so I am happy to shop online.

      Hi Graeme, I'm not sure I knew you were a G&L player too. Mine's a USA model from the 90's but the build quality is amazing

      @@MarcGuitarVideos Yeh Marc, I've got three Asat's. Two Custom build ones and an Indonesian tribute one. They are great guitars 👍🏻 I've got a Gibson SG Special as well, for P90 sounds

      @@graemero5532 What's the difference between the 2 USA ASATs?

    • @graemero5532
      @graemero5532 6 месяцев назад

      @@MarcGuitarVideos The USA one in my profile picture is a semi hollow Asat with a CuNife neck pickup, and my other USA one is solid body and has a Dynasonic neck pickup (The same pickup you see on High end Gretsch guitars). The tribute model is an Asat classic so has the single coil MFD pickup more commonly seen in Asats. The three guitars feel the same, but have three different sounds. There is also the benefit of not going through frets so fast as they share the playing.

    interesting Norm's seen he big names that come there and the butt kissing with big artist they do check out when they had Richie Sambora there , but you think of t being a well known RUclips shop they would be a bit more open to someone from the UK who just wants an experience of being at Norms what shops need to learn is how you treat a punter the first time they walk into their shops it will have lasting effects, you might not buy a guitar there at that moment but having a positive first experience will bring back when you do purchase a guitar, I will check out the Gibson Experience in London one day , want to mention a shop in Manchester I went to that's gone now called Dawsons they were very friendly , its too bad their gone ,

    In 🇺🇲, I agree that you should go and play the guitar before you buy it ❗️
    Sadly, where I live, Altos is great for letting you play a guitar, but stock is slim. Altos does set up the guitar for you.
    They stopped carrying G & L because they made to order, which stinks because I like to check out G & L before I purchase.
    Who cares about who's coming there and you were in woke California ❗️
    This why when I open my shop, I will pay commission NOT per hour pay, because this will separate the wheat from the chaff ❗️

      @MarcGuitarVideos Altos music is in Middletown NY and Wappingers Falls NY. There is also Axe shop ( vintage) ( definitely a different crowd) in Wappingers Falls NY ( New York)

    Trevor Davies in Leominster, Herefordshire is an AMAZING guitar shop. It's well worth a trip. It's a lot bigger on the inside than it looks from outside, it's TARDIS like. There are always lots of guitars in the shop for all budgets. The customer service is outstanding. Steve, the owner is incredibly knowledgeable and will do everything he can to help you find the right instrument or gear. You can be confident of after sales service too. I've got all my guitars (4) from him over the years. I totally agree with @johnhearne5644 about PMT in Manchester. I didn't like it at all. Not a nice atmosphere. PMT Bristol was totally different. It was great in there but Trevor Davies is always my go to for anything musical.
