The procession was amazing. I’m an American and, having imagined myself in the shoes of a Brit, I felt patriotism somehow.
Only problem I had was I felt like the House of Commons should have maintained silence from the time the Lady Usher of the Black Rod entered the House chamber to the time they entered the House of Lords. Felt rather disrespectful, honestly.

My first thought was that they were/are her personal guard but there's a white horse on both sides.. So, I think the white horses are her personal guard and the black horses are "Death" - because they are to fight against whoever's attacking... the combination of both ideas in answering would seem to make sense.. idk, I think they do,. The Queen has, all but twice, worn the Imperial State Crown (the one on the cushion) during the state opening. However, given her age (93) and the fact the crown weighs over 1 kg (2.2 lb) I think she can be forgiven for going for the lighter diadem.

@@edervalrocha8536 not as heavy as St. Edward's crown which is almost 2.3 kg ( nearly 5lb). However, this is only used during the actual crowning part of the corronation. When the Queen left westminter Abbey after her corronation she was waring the lighter Imperial State crown.

@@Edmonton-of2ec not technically there is literally one. One MP is always held 'hostage' by the royal guard until the Queen returns safely to the palace. Whilst it is now just a tradition it dated back to when parliament and the crown were not on the best of terms. The other odd (by today's standards) tradition is that the cellars of the palace of Westminster are serched the night before the state opening for barels of gunpowder - just in case another gunpowder plot is in the offing.
