This verse is just brilliant, masterful writing…even when it seems like he’s moving from one scheme to another, it’s still super cohesive - religion/God/higher power (ties into “blackout, power outage”), violence vs. calm/patience, menace/minister/preacher, shepherd/black sheep/“heard”-“herd,” “arrival”-“a rival”/archenemy, etc. For example, near the beginning, he says “Could have turned Dalai with the Lama” can also be heard as “Could have turned Ali (like Muhammad) with the Llama (like the gun)” ties into the end of the verse… “Fill up a syllable clip, like a refillable ‘script.
