  • Hi, this is my first impressions of the brand new Black Bay 54 37mm from Tudor. Could this be the perfect fit for me and my wrist? I think it's probably as close to perfect as it will ever get? Thanks for watching. You can find me on Facebook and instagram. Here are the links...

    Looks great on your wrist. Tried it on my 7in. wrist the other day, and it fit like a dream. More so than I thought when just reading about the proportions. It feels more like a 38mm-38.5mm.

      The good thing with eBay on a watch over £1500 is it goes to eBay authentication centre before it comes to you. Even if you’re not completely happy with the watch you still have the right to return it. So as a buyer that’s great! I always just make sure the seller has a great feedback score too 👍

    • @michaelriera6277
      @michaelriera6277 Год назад +1

      I think the 54 looks very austere when compared to the 58. There is a warm charm to the 58 that has been lost with the removal of the gilt bezel and the color pop of the iconic Red Triangle. Also, the 54 is a direct replication, whereas, the 58 has a more original design that borrows cues from Rolex/Tudor of past.

    • @johnnyguitar6697
      @johnnyguitar6697 Год назад +3

      @@michaelriera6277 I'd agree that this is a pared down version of the BB58, but I actually welcome it. Not just because I love those old Rolex / Tudor references it is directly inspired by, but also because I thought Tudor had overdone it with the gilt accents on the black BB58, which I prefer in blue for that particular reason. It's really down to individual preferences between the BB58 and the BB54, and it's great to have the choice.

      @@michaelriera6277I absolutely agree with you. The BB54 looks more refined without the red triangle, the golden indexes on the crown, and its more contained size. On the wrist, it is "sexy" unlike the BB58 I find. However, I hope that next year TUDOR will offer the same watch without its flaws.
      : a BB54 without the false rivets, with a transparent back to contemplate the movement. A movement that TUDOR will need to dress up a bit to make it more pleasing to the eye. And for it to be ALMOST perfect, a higher quality bracelet in L916 steel or failing that (because it's too expensive), a minimum class 2 titanium bracelet like the PELAGOS 39. I'm starting to save...

    I picked one up last week and have the same issue with the fitment.
    Initially had 3 links removed but it was slightly too loose and the t-fit was pushed all the way in so couldn't get it any tighter.
    Removing 4 links it fits fine, but the t-fit is pushed all the way out so there's no room for adjustment when my wrist swells in the summer.
    Ordered an Uncle Seiko 1/2 link so hoping that will help, otherwise I may have to sell it. Shame Tudor couldn't fit a couple of more notches of adjustment in the clasp.
    Don't have this problem with my P39, 3 links removed and that put me right in the middle of the t-fit, giving me lots of room for adjustments.

    • @ShamrockRagEll
      @ShamrockRagEll Год назад +1

      I'm in the same boat exactly. 3 out it's a little too loose, 4 out it's kind of tight when the T-Link is fully extended (no adjustment possibilities for the summer).

      With 4 full links removed and the 1/2 link added, I now wear the watch comfortably with the t-fit pushed all the way in bar one notch, so I can go a bit tighter if needed, but more importantly, I have lots of room to expand when the weather get hot.

    The problem I have with this watch is, the dial feels just so small on the wrist. 37mm diameter is normally okay but since this is a diver watch and bezel is thick, the dial looks quity tiny and does not look well proportioned when you look yourself in the mirror. An aluminum bezel will scratch / fade, but if you apply big enough a shock for it to bend, it is likely that a ceramic bezel would simply break. And they're more expensive to replace than an aluminum one.

    The BB54 has a better bracelet and possibly a more refined case, thank the BB58 but you are forgoing a lot. I feel 39 mm is the perfect size for a sport/dive watch. Also, at some point you may want some wrist presence in a watch and I love BB58’s gilt bezel numerals, red iconic triangle (red triangle and larger crown references the classic Rolex /Tudor Big Crown of the past) and the snowflake seconds. I even like the coin edge bezel matching the crown. Without these characteristics, the BB would be rather dull. The lugs on the BB54 are also proportionally bigger giving it a less elegant, squared look.

    • @Time_and_time_again

      All valid points but unfortunately 39mm isn’t the perfect size for everyone! I really think that this 54 is perfect for smaller wrists and the 58 is perfect for regular sized wrists. Both are great choices and both have different design elements that folks will appreciate. The beauty of all of this is that there is choice I think 😊👍
