J I fully agree. It’s rad how understanding and loving he is to his Mom. There’s not a lot of people out there that understand how difficult dealing with mental illness truly is.
N V z how so? Only mag you had or what? Cause I know there’s been times where I had only one mag on a road trip or something and it saved my life cause you never read everything the first time. So you keep pickin it up..
I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Bill at this coffee spot during his 3 weeks, peace era. I think he had just moved to Philly and was already filming. I’m really stoked to see where he got to, and that he was able to do it his way. The people he mentions in his early years in Philadelphia really brings me back and puts a smile on my face. Thanks for having him on the show guys.
I never realized you (I'm assuming Roger) posts all these links in the description to things mentioned. It's fucking sick! Thank you, I never would have been able to find that unused Lakai edit
TheNineClub and all the guests is the most exciting thing in skateboarding IMO. I get hyped, inspired and religiously checking in each week. 1-3 hours of a new chapter in the book of my only real love affair. I get stoked on the nostalgic on the 90's [and love Kelly's 411 input] but even older and younger folks have my full attention. "We have a very, very special guest isn't redundant because everyone is very special. Thank you all so much. A million thanks for the platform and the skaters sharing their experience and take on skateboarding. I seriously love Bill Strobeck's mind. Like always, I devour all related skate links and it's a big help to have these linked because I now need to see have the things he mentioned that got past me. Either way, I would have gave Google hell tracking them down. The show is priceless. Once the show airs, I spend the next week exploring everything I can find. Much I grew up with but just as much I missed the first time around and just the best damn thing on youtube. It's seriously exposing people, brands and too much stuff to keep up with it all. uys do is inspiring. It's going to be rad when the right investor(s) or sponsor comes along and that can allow you all to make a living on what you this unique thing you do. And yeah, and fuck the instagram satuation. Hopefully this is just a phase and people will see it's deadening. Seems like attention seekers. Save that shit and at least put it in a sick part on Thrasher or a full length with a scholar in or a guest on the
Thank guys! . I love when you have these dudes that are from my generation and I can remember sooo fondly. . Growing up in Pittsburgh. Philly and NYC were the places we migrated to in the mid late 90s! Peace, Eric
I would say this show should be on TV. Better that it's not. Keep up the great work fellas. Does anyone else stop the vid to watch the clips they talk about, then keep watching? LOL
Just wanted to let you guys know the impact your show has on me. I grew up skating and getting into this show has reminded me that skate culture is by far the coolest thing in the world. The three of you have such great dynamic and your set up is beautifully designed. I go to school for architecture and will watch all of these for hours while I do homework. All these stories are so inspiring and I know listening to them will help me in my career one day. Thanks guys, y'all are awesome! Oh and William Strobeck is the shit, I watched cherry 3 times after watching this video and it just blows my mind how well he presents all those skaters styles with song choice, composition, B frames, its insane how cool that came out.
the nine club interviews make me never ever ever want to quit skating. even when i feel like i suck or have no future it brings me back up seeing how awesome this industry is and you can still make a living in it even if its not exactly skating. ill b ok, i also learned that even these pros struggle with injuries and losing lots of time and depression just like have always dealt with. its really crazy. a few years ago i was in the ill never be able to skate again mindset. but somehow i realized i wasnt treating my injuries right. probably have the neen interview to thank for that.
Cool watching this interview with Bill, hear about his start, crazy experiences and doing what he loves. He seems very down to earth and like a regular dude. Thanks!
Bill led the conversation very well. The hosts barely spoke, to the point when they did, it surprised you that were still watching the nine club. Great episode
It was an awkward moment that Bill didn't get or notice obviously. I understand what you are saying completely. I do see another side though. Funny how i was thinking exactly what you were saying and decided to look through the comments and find yours. Bill's look or appearance in a way throws one off, It's like how did this fool get on top. Then you get to hearing him and he really is a nice guy, really cool. could be a East Cost vs West Coast thing. Bill does seem cooked, what skater isn't though at that age. And now Chris.....lol...You mentioned Bill led the show. Chris seemed to have done his best to keep his calm. It is his show though and Bill did sort of take over in a awkward way even for the viewer lol. Love the dude though.. But nothing he said was negative at all. But yeah Chris seems on fire. With all that said, Chris Roberts has been my favorite skater since the LISTEN video. And I love the fucking 9 club.
I skated in Syracuse 87-93. I went to the same high school as Bill probably a couple years ahead of him lol we started the baggy pants and flannel shirts in the area... Glad to see people from the skate scene here made it... lol just got a new board hopefully I see some old skaters at the museum..
Banana-Kelly Hart, ha ha. To reference the beginning of the conversation I too have skated in extreme cold (30 below) just jonzing to skate. Bill’s rad and I’m grateful he captured that east coast ‘90’s that went down because it was definitely influential. Looking forward to his next video.
Keith Richards Liver nah you sound desperate and it’s embarrassing to feel it, it’s just presumptuous of you to assume shit bout Dill. When he isn’t even a ( centrist * liberal* coward ) my guy. Are you trying to offend someone here with ya fragile ego? Btw liberal and conservatives are on the same side of coin. I’ll reiterate Dill definitely doesn’t align within either, If he was a liberal he be participating in performative behavior out of (trying to gain some brownie points for his ego) But Dills always been monumentally consistently controversial with his views and beliefs to were id assume he’s more far left behavior wise. then some pretentious kid who doesn’t even realize libs/cons equally benefit from each other’s mental masturbation.
"WHATEVER" haha so sick, loved the Gonz stories. THANK YOU Nine Club! Fun fact - the manikin hand photo of Mark was shot at Jimmy Arrighi AKA @worldsbestdad 's back yard ramp named "Hellbow" westminster.
