One of the best reviews I’ve seen with this game, I agree with all of your points especially the platforming, it’s refreshing to see someone who acknowledges it isn’t terrible but it just isn’t that good either, it’s definitely better than walking down corridors between combat encounters at least. I was surprised how new your channel is with this video being so well made to be honest with you, I know I don’t imagine they will or they might improve upon it so it suits the style of play better, no idea how but iD never cease to amaze me, I really enjoyed the monkey bars during combat especially when there were multiple at different heights so you could just be flying through the air raining down rockets etc really adds to that feeling of being this unstoppable whirlwind of bullets going through the demons.
Thanks again! I have some post production experience under my belt, but honestly trying to figure out the youtube platform has been a huge learning experience. Dude the monkey bars were fun! Maybe going forward it will make more sense to have the platforming for the sake of combat encounters but maybe cool it on the full on platforming sections. who knows 😅
100% the platforming only exists to slow the pace of the game but still challenges the player and keeps them engaged. I don’t hate it but there is too much platforming in Eternal tbh.

I had MANY moments where I was like “this is the craziest F***ing game I have EVER played. The combat is perfect to my taste and I even like the platforming as you you can go back in many instances. I love how quickly the Doomslayer is and I don’t mind it. Plus, just being like.. THE CHOSEN ONE who rules with brutal violence but like... for good.
I've said this before but I like to refer to Doom Eternal as if you take Doom 2016, make it snort a fat line of coke, make it down 40 shots of Fireball Whiskey, and injected it with a lethal amount of steroids. Thus you get the glorious genetic monster of Doom Eternal.

I feel like the platforming exists to get players to learn how to use the dash and monkey bars, so that when you learn to yeethook, you can maximise airtime.
You know what's goddamn funny? Everything hits it JUST right. Except the parts where they decided to mesh the use and glory kill to E instead of keeping them separate like in 16. I went and immediately changed it to F, and now it's become ingrained in my reflexes to use F whenever I'm met with a use option. Thanks Doom Eternal, you put two functions on the same button even though it would've still worked with them being separate. V for crucible, F for melee/glorykill, E for use, etc. It's one of the few gripes I have with Eternal from a PC player's perspective, but I'm kinda shit at doom so I stuck at Hurt Me Plenty 90% of the time, and now only am starting to conquer 2016's UV mode.

It's not a downgrade, but it's about the mix. Some people don't want chocolade topping on top of chocoloade cake. DOOM Eternal is a bit "much" for some people. The fights can get too much, tedious even. Even the review here mentions it slighty.

I'm on console then switched on pc and can say how much you want bash your head into your wall. The game's new DLC is even more difficult and made me want to kill myself on console.
"Oh, that's why the demon's have cybernetic implants!" Uh, I never found that bit of lore. But then, I never looked for it or cared to. The reason why they have cybernetic implants is because id has a huge hardon for that aesthetic. See: Strogg Everything else is just post-facto rationalization.

No. The best DOOM is DOOM 64. So, demons like obstcle courses on their hell bases huh? This is a glorified Mario, colorful and with spike traps for you to jump. Just rebrand it to whatever name you like, it's not DOOM.
