Came for the movie review, stayed for the trivia. I really didn't know the Satyajit Ray story being the inspiration for ET, but your comment after wards about how everything is copy of a copy is really something that made me introspective about the remake culture that we currently have.
Personally, I do not condemn the recycle value of a content. But to the extent where the remake is a faithful adaptation and has its own voice in depicting the common theme. Like for Laal Singh Chadda, I will leave the prejudice out where I want to see Aamir to be an extension of Tom Hanks, which is impossible and unfair. But if it is a worthy adaptation that has its Indian roots showcased at its truest potential, just as Forrest Gump was an insight into its American roots, I'm all for it. I think that is what remakes should be about, being unique in spite of sharing an identical structure of its predecessor.

I did not mock the om reference. The sole fact that it was kept in the movie just because of religious causes was my issue. If it was explained scientifically ( the origin of the sound and the significance of it ), i would have had no problem. But it was used as a weapon to encourage religious stuff through a movie. That was a wrong thing to do. No movie should push a certain religion.

I did not mock the om reference. The sole fact that it was kept in the movie just because of religious causes was my issue. If it was explained scientifically ( the origin of the sound and the significance of it ), i would have had no problem. But it was used as a weapon to encourage religious stuff through a movie. That was a wrong thing to do. No movie should push a certain religion.
