You seem to really hate Rupali's character. But she isnt alone to blame. Prem lied to her as well on multiple occasions and manipulated her too. He has so many double standards like wanting a modern sexy dressing girl in his life but hated seeing his wife do the same. And in the end blamed everything on Rupali and went back to his family as if he was never at fault. Toxic without limits.

Did you also notice that a smart girl like karishma is made to dress like an ultra-traditional girl just because she is married and also Rupali is wrongly accused of bad things to make Prem realize his mistakes, which means he is still rotten just disillusioned because of lies and haven't understood that cheating is wrong. Silly movie but was a hit because India did badly in the 1999 world cup so people watched this movie instead

Also there are much more toxic movies and characters that are marked as cult classic or legendary since the 60's. Nowadays, we can identify and separate toxicity from everything because of social media interaction, digital media. Bad side of that - people get offended very easily these days.
My take on these kind of movies is like satire. Bollywood was making these movies to show the reality of these characters. But that's my take, reality is just the opposite.
I loved this movie as a kid. Now, I realize how toxic it was.
I still love this movie, it's a fun watch. It's the characters I despise.

The section of Tabu as well as material worth 5 more minutes were cut from this. The video is already 13 mins. Didn't want to make it longer. But yeah, She did a phenomenal job however in a very neglected character.

Amazing video. Loved it ❤. These kind of movies make me think, what did the actors thought before signing the movie. Because I am a huge fan of Tabu and Sushmita Sen, because of their script selection(specially Tabu), but seeing them in this movie is hell a cringe.

Goodness heavens, I remember while I was a kid I enjoyed this stereotypical patriarchal humour without realising how it plays around with sexism beyond Bollywood. And now years later, each scene in this film is so annoying. At the end of the day women are expected to adjust and behave like nothing ever happened. Your reviews never fail to amaze me.
