    The problem with Blackpool is that it has no industry, we used to have coach building, we used to have plane building we used to have car building , proper jobs . Now the council do nothing to encourage business to come to Blackpool, it is still trying to pretend to be a "holiday resort" Blackpool is not a resort , it is a cheap day out .

    Blackpool was the place to go to for a brilliant holiday but unfortunately the businesses didn’t put the money back into improving their business like b and bs they let them get run down so people stopped using them such a shame ,I stopped going to Blackpool because of that very reason

    Blackpool was once a "dream holiday destination", but stupidly the visitors were often treated terribly by greedy landladies and publicans. It's not surprising that people found more welcoming destinations. I was born there in 1950 but left in the early seventies. The local council don't help much.

    However, achieving an equal economic system is a complex and challenging task that requires significant changes in policies, institutions, and societal values. It requires addressing issues such as income inequality, access to education and healthcare, and creating opportunities for marginalized communities.

    I have lived in Blackpool for 25 years now and I think it’s a great place especially for places to visit and entertainment if you also include the other close by resorts as well such as st Annes and Cleveleys especially now the season has extended to January but the other half of me yearns for more - a lot still needs to be done and the council are either hardly doing anything or doing it very slowly - I mean the council have been promising a lot but hardly doing much over the years . I’ve been living here and it’s hardly changed much since the 90s and have seen less and less tourists coming and a quarter of people are unemployed here, there is a lot of crime and homeless increasing - it’s like every 200m I walk along the prom I see a homeless person sitting there and they harass people for money - it’s depressing and Its easy to see how tourists feel when they see this and then the town gets a bad reputation and even parts of the prom need improving as it can look quite tacky and dirty in places . But year after year hardly anything is being done . There’s some very derelict buildings and houses on the backstreets behind the prom . It seems like the government would rather line its own pockets and spend on the wages for the tons of people in the House of Lords most of whom are not really needed (the elite) and foreign aid and immigration than deal with its internal problems .

    I don’t understand why these people who live on the breadline and need to go to a food bank have so many children? 1 is expensive enough, but having 3 children…..why? Contraception is free in the UK, there’s just no excuse for bringing children into such hardship

      I’m a lawyer and teacher by training and I actually WANT to be in Blackpool.. if Blackpool continues to be painted in a bad light no investors or skilled workers would want to move to or live in Blackpool, investors will stay away - it will be a self fulfilling prophecy then .. Blackpool will never thrive if no one believes in its potential ( and YES I believe it HAS potential to improve)
      I’ve live all over the world and poverty and disillusionment are the same everywhere ..

      The media have a real issue with blackpool especially the sun newspaper. They printed some utter lies a while back showing how bad pontins was...as it was being demolished but they never mentioned that. Or taking photos on the prom.early morning of the arcades before they're open and said it was abandoned. Maybe we should boycott them like.liverpool do.

    Obesity looks more of a problem than food poverty, the Scotsman saying most people who use the foodbank are not the crud of society... this is simply untrue.

    • @billijomaynard8924
      @billijomaynard8924 2 года назад +4

      It is no surprise that a lot of people struggling financially are obese. Food from food banks helps prevent people from starving but it is far from healthy. Tinned and packaged food is full of salt, fat and sugar. That is why it is non perishable. Unhealthy food like processed meats, unhealthy starches like white pasta, rice, white bread, prepackaged foods and tinned food are all much cheaper then fresh fruit and vegetables, lean cuts of meat and dairy. People struggling eat far more fat, sugar and get much less of the vitamins, minerals and healthy fats their bodies need. Also there is a larger issue with people not being taught how to properly budget, how to prepare cheap and healthy proteins like lentils, dried beans, buying healthy on a budget, such as oats, whole wheat pasta and brown rice, frozen vegetables and cheaper veg such as carrots, onions, cabbages, the ability to grow your own veg, blanching excess produce and freezing it for later use, recognizing and utilizing free wild food stuffs through foraging such as stinging nettle, ransoms(wild garlic), crab apples, sweet chestnuts, acorns, to name a few, trapping pest species of game animals which in Britain does not require a license such as rabbits. There are lots of ways to obtain healthy food on a budget, problem is most people either cannot due to the area they live in or have never been taught how to by their parents and the school system.
