- The Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” is definitely going to be one of the biggest Air Jordan releases of the year. But do we care about the name of the shoe? Nike is actually calling it the “Industrial Blue” Air Jordan 4, a technicality that’s already annoying diehard collectors. In this episode, cohosts Joe La Puma, Brendan Dunne, and Matt Welty discuss that pair and a handful of other upcoming Jordans from the recent SNKRS Summer ‘24 preview. Welty is right. Cooked Black Sambas with white stripes was quintessential rock IDGAF sneaker in high school. We measured the insanity of that person by how many holes were on the sneaker.

I wore black sambas back in the early 90’s. I was a soccer player and played indoor with my sambas it was the classic soccer shoe and those black adidas massage slides. Sambas remind me of my childhood. My teenage son has a pair now and ahhh the memories

To comment off of weltys jjjound comment, I feel like its totally ok to purchase a collab shoe based off of color way or design rather than just based off the brand name attached to the shoe.

I don't know if A.D.I.D.A.S. had more than one fencing shoe. But Welty mentioned a fencing shoe and said it never rereleased. But the fencing shoe I'm aware of is the A.D.I.D.A.S. Aloha Super. And it's currently in their catalog as a Mark Gonzalez skate shoe. It has released in multiple color ways, in the last few years. I wonder what shoe Welty is referring to?

You guys should do little segments (maybe as a separate video entirely) about the history of certain shoes that have been a staple in various companies. For example dunks (vs sb dunks) , sambas, Jordan 1s , superstars, etc

My first introduction that turned me into a sneaker head was in 3rd grade going to Footlocker and buying the Reebok Blacktop Pump. I remember even then my dad payed $118. He nearly lost it when they told him the total. I wish I could buy a DS pair of that exact shoe. It was the Black, white and purple pair.

Interesting Welty take. When I think of Sambas I go back to 07’ and think of the punk or alt rock guy who also the proto-hipster wearing AE.
I get it’s a hooligan shoe but I saw quite a few kids who sort of fit the mold above wearing Sambas. A few soccer kids here and there as well. None I would classify as reckless. Just regular teenage shenanigans (partying, etc) and the rest were low-key
in 2012 the Military Blue 4's sold out here in Chicago. Things may have been different for welty in boston or on the east coast. But they sold out everywhere out here. In fact everybody who missed out, as well as the people who beat/cooked their 2012 pairs has been waiting for these to rerelease

Mark Gonzales skate shoe is an old fencing shoe design as well. Beautiful shoe.
Nike also did the same with the 85 Jordan 1 High. They called it Neutral Grey instead of the original Natural Grey
JLP - my going hard at the bars shoe was the 06 Black Cat 4. You couldnt mess them up. Plus im getting outdoor buckets in them. I did not care for the 2020 pair. But sold them a bit prematurely.
Why isn’t anyone talking about how the white leather on the Military 4’s isn’t really white? It’s a bit of an off white color, plus the toe box nubuck isn’t the same grey as the rest of the grey accents, it’s way too dark and in truth looks a bit out of place, and also the blue on the uppers is slightly lighter than the blue on the midsole.

@mattwelty the jjj samba's is actually one that i Don't mind compared to other jjj collabs because this yellow liner makes me think that its an og color way that ive since before some 40+ yrs ago, didnt like it then but now think its an ok colour way. May be im confused with a pair of tigers that my big bro had but defo old school colour way and slapping it on this classic adidas just does it for nostalgic purposes

I actually just bought a pair of panda dunks. First pair of that colorway, it's not too bad. I mean bought them to beat tf out of them with daily wear because they fit my feet really well. The 550 and Samba both fit my feet really poorly. I had like 3 pairs of the Aime Leon Dore 550's and they all had really bad heel slip issues for me and I had to sell them all off. The samba, I had tried years ago when I was basically only wearing Janoski's all the time, and the fit was not it. Those Red Taxi 12's go HARD AF. That's a pair I'll 1000% be going for

Like the Sambas but not for the comfort, the OG SL72's and newer SL72 RS on the other hand are way ahead in comfort and fit plus the colourways a lot more appealing, vibrant and attractive than any of the Sambas.
