Having only managed to get a 2-week tourist visa for Japan, I was determined to make the most of our limited time in this captivating country. Tokyo, similarly to London, held a mythical status in my mind, fueled by childhood memories of Japanese cartoons that I used to watch every weekend. Expecting crowds, noise, and chaos, I was pleasantly surprised to discover pockets of quiet. To me, the green spaces and intriguing details defined Tokyo’s unique charm.

In 2013, I started my solo travel journey, leaving Indonesia in 2016 to become a full-time traveller and RUclips creator. My background in International Relations has fueled a profound interest in exploring different countries. My content focuses on exploring different cultures through the lens of a solo female traveller, aiming to capture real-life interactions and experiences.

Hi Syifa. It's been a very long time since we first met in Wuhan, China. Once again, we almost met up...first in Kazakhstan, where I missed you by about a month, and now in Tokyo. Not sure when you were there, but judging by the short sleeves you and your husband were wearing, it was a warmer month. I was there this past November.
Japan is an amazing destination. I love how everything is so orderly and the people are generally so polite and law abiding. Late one evening, in a quiet residential part of town (yes, there are some), I watched a lady who was about to cross the street, but the crossing signal light was against her. Though there was absolutely no traffic, not a single car, she waited until she had the walk sign to cross. I don't know too many other places where that would have happened.

Hello, Len! Yes it's been such a long time since we were in Wuhan back in 2018, over 5 years ago now. We were in Japan some time ago now, around October. I agree that Japan is such an amazing destination we unfortunately only had 2 weeks to travel. Did you manage to go to South Korea as well? People are similar in South Korea when it comes to crossing signal light, and we were very impatient with it, especially when there was no traffic in a small city at 10 pm🤣
@@SyifaAdriana Yes, I've been to South Korea, and yes, there are similarities in attitudes. I had a friend of mine from South Korea, visiting me here in Florida, . I wanted to show her the beach that is a short walk from my house. In order to get to the beach, however, we had to cross a fairly major avenue. There is no designated crosswalk anywhere near where we needed to cross. Though I cross that street pretty much every day on my daily walk, my friend was appalled when I indicated that we had to cross at an "unofficial" place.

We stopped over in Tokyo for 4 nights on our way to Singapore. It was rainy, cloudy and windy but we still loved it. It was soup weather and no shortage of it. We made the best of it and may return on our next trip to Asia. JAL is a wonderful airline . We flew Premium Economy, but coach is 8 across instead of 9 on their 787s, so we may try that is PE is too much.
Thanks a lot, Daniel for your coment. Rainy and overcast days often make it very atmospheric. Flying with JAL sounds like a nice experience, we usually only use low-cost carrier for shorter distance journey and often Qatar when we do come back to England.

Enjoy Japan where it safe, clean, organised and experience the culture. And ordering food from certain eateries will just have to depend on your finger to point at the pictures as the description is fully in Japanese but am sure you will survive and experience something new. Venturing into a different culture with language barrier is no sweat for you with your years in travelling and especially solo.

Have not been to Japan yet but I would also add Shimokitazawa (they are filled with hip cafes/bakeries, vintage and thrift shops) in my itinerary if i visit Tokyo in the future.

Are y’all going to neku shima (cat island)? Fukuoka, Shikoku? If you go to Miyajima Island (between Hiroshima and Iwakuni), you can feed the deer. Shin to Hiroshima, change to regular train, and go south. Get off and take the ferry.
Thnaks a lot for your comment, Terry. We went to Hokkaido island straight away by taking an 18-hour ferry from a city just outside of Tokyo. A cat island sounds interesting! Japan has always got everything. How many times have you been to Japan?
I was stationed there 2 years in the military and I went there on vacation in 1990.

Hahaha I agree! I was unfortunately only granted for a 2-week tourist visa by the Japanese embassy. We had to rush a bit as we had tight filming schedule in Japan.

Yes I am make up addict and love to experiment my make up looks inspired by local people whenever I travel. Yes the staff spoke Japanese to me but we used an online Google translator.
