Thankyou so much for all of your views. It means alot to me. I will be doing another video where I go into Basing house and show the actual tunnel. Please subscribe to my channel and help me grow, it gives me huge encouragement to keep it going. Thankyou. See you out there. Paul
Thanks for giving us a look around the area, especially the barn, river, and viaduct. Time Team were rightly focused on the dig, so your vid is a nice addendum.
Slits in the walls were purely for ventilation, they left air flow through which stops mildew spreading through the sored harvest....additionally if you've ever stuck your hand into piled grain you will find it gets hot, so with moving air through the slits you are in effect cooling the grain & the potential for self combustion of the sored harvest is lowered.
Thanks for the info Barry, I thought they were for spying or shooting out of. Lol, its fantastic and fascinating finding out this information on the vids I make. thankyou for your input on them.
Excellent video. My mates and I use to play in the Basing House grounds as children when it was freely open to the public. We often went down the tunnel on the seat of our pants around the blind corner to the exit where I'm pretty sure there was a ladder to the surface I think within area of the moat. From what we were told at the time although a bit of a disappointment, it wasn't an escape tunnel and had a more innocent use, didn't stop us playing war games though.
Nice vid mate 👍I was chased out the Great Barn many years ago by a massive rat lol. I also brush-cut the old canal (dried up then) just the other side of the gate you showed at the beginning, small world hey 🙂
Thanks Just Vin, definitely a small world. Not keen on rats myself, Lol. thanks for watching and commenting. Got more in the pipeline so am often in the area. Feel free to subscribe, massive thanks. See you out there. Paul
@@padventures-life I was born local there but moved to Wales 20yrs ago, btw according to legend the tunnel went from Basing House to the Holy Ghost church but the land between was so flooded at the time I don't believe it did. I always thought it went to somewhere much closer to the House than that. PS The Holy Ghost graveyard is interesting as it contains the grave where Alice Blunden was buried alive...twice!!
@@justvin7214 oh wow, didn't know that story about the tunnel so thanks. I plan to do a vid on the holy ghost area at some point. Shame you moved away but I'm sure it's just as nice in Wales, I love Wales but do not go very often. Thanks for all your comments and info, also big thanks for subbing. Speak to you soon I'm sure. Take care Vin. Paul

The bridge arch is just asking for a drone fly through
That would be amazing, unfortunately I do not have one but would love drone footage to add into vids.
English history isn't taught any better than in the USA. Doesn't know how many wives Henry VIII had?
Many thanks for watching.
All the best
