    The team descend on the village of Ffrith in North Wales to discover if it is built on the remains of a Roman mining town. The main street runs along the route of Offa's Dyke. The dig involves excavating two gardens and the playing field, but the team are frustrated in their attempts to find a Roman bath house. The team are joined by archaeologist Chris Martin and historian David Mason.

    Stewart MVP almost every single episode. It’s amazing how overlooked his field and specialty is and yet he usually has the most conclusive and groundbreaking results of each episode

    I don’t know why but Phil is my favorite! He could come up to me on the street, hand me a spade, and say we’re going to dig through the depths of hell itself and I would just be like “Right Phil. What time do we start?”

    I love Stewart...he is so clever and never disappoints....I hope he is teaching others to read the landscape...we wouldn’t want to lose his skills...

      I do think that along with Mick i think he and Stewart maybe the most intelligent people on Time Team, and i think they may be the best mannered people also.

    Loved Phil caked in mud, sat on a blanket, I think, protecting the pub furniture about to down a well-earned pint! Doubt that anyone else in that state would be served. I love this programme.

      I noticed that too, and that his hands were fresh out of the mud, meaning he worked till the moment they had to pull him in for the shot. The man earned his pint.

    Stuarts ability to interpret the surrounding landscape was always one of my favourite aspects of Time Team.

    Tony, Mick and Phil. What an amazing trio. I am still watching, and re-watching, as many Time Team videos as I can, and thoroughly enjoying them, here in July 2024. RIP Mick Aston of course, but these shows were just so entertaining and educational at the same time.

    Sir Tony does an amazing job with explaining and narrating. I love his fun little digs he has at the crew and locals. It's done in a fun way and not offensive and it's funny.
    Phil is a dead set optimist, and ya can't help but love his attitude anf dedito his profession.

    The thing I really like about scientific / Academic research is that you 'find what you find'. It is the process of noticing, and building on what you already know, to try to better understand. But the key is to go back to 'what you already know', and see if it still makes sense - it is actually that part of the process that builds knowledge. Wonderful episode, I learnt way more here than when 'lifting the turf and finding a villa!'

      Finding nothing is a result, and an important one. If you've lost your car keys and look under the sofa cushions znd they aren't there, you know more than you did before and can narrow the field of inquiry.😉

      I don't think many people who've watched the shows know how brilliant and versatile Bridget is. I always wished they had done at least one episode where she was in charge, something that would have showcased her broad knowledge and abilities.

      TT were well known for returning or redoing places back to how they found them. That is how they get so much access to places. Those people probably got a nice new garden out of it.

    It’s a good job that Tony Robinson is there to interpret the archeologist speak, they throw in words like “sontage” that are either Latin in origin or they had, as Tony said, to much crazy juice. 😂👍🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
    I am glad that they have Phil and Tony as a comedy double act, they are like the original “odd couple”

    Loved this episode--all of the sorting out of ideas and views. Stewart's use of the landscape, again, is brilliant! Mick and Phil are treasures. And Tony brings all these elements into a beautifully baked cake.

    Found this again about a year after my last comment, that bit in the pub, Not round not straight but wiggly, always makes me laugh. Something struck me whilst watching this. I learned a couple of things watching time team not related to archaeology. One, find your 'thing', your passion, and what you're good at, don't look at how fat your wallet will get, that should be further down your list of reasons to do something, And 2, teamwork, working with other people to reach a goal, it's shouldn't be about competition, that "I make more money/sell more than you do" attitude doesn't help anything.

    Less than a minute into this episode and Tony has me grinning. The town has “its priorities straight” because there are no shops but two pubs. Plus how he just walks into a random house and tours around in it. ☺️

    I hope that village and the property owners had an ironclad agreement with the Time Team producers regarding site cleanup and rebuilding!

      Get out of that city asap ... I will be avoiding London when i go on my tour planned in 5 years time . Too bad that city has been taken over by sjw's and "others" if you will .

      Ffith is actually an alright little place,it’s just such a shame that a lot of welsh people are anglophobic racists. Made my time there miserable.

    Not necessarily a classic in terms of what they did find, but at least they corrected a misinterpretation, and Stewart's theory does seem the most plausible.
