Vince, a genius and one hell of a programmer. This was the start and the best of Euro-synth. I still love all this stuff. The last 70s was awesome but the 80s had Euro-synth music and some of the best metal bands as well. I loved it all!

lison was seriously underrated. But together with Vince they made one of the best albums of alltime. And certainly a seminal synth pop album with Upstairs at Eric's. I still have it on cassette and play it on my old HITACHI Boombox. Given to me for my 17th birthday back in 1981. HAPPY DAYS.

Married to Vinces inventive genius on synths. Was a unique and incredible pairing over 40 years ago. That created what I consider the finest electro pop music ever. It had amazing sounds and soul too.

As a young kid I idolized Depeche Mode. Clarke was amazing but I really appreciated people like Moyet and Annie Lennox for such amazing vocals. I'm not sure all aforementioned get their due.

Man, it brings me back to the best era of music of the 80s. I was in high school heard it first on the fm radio in Manila, Philippines 🇵🇭 and then, sooner, on MTVs, and on famous tv lunch show each day by DJ named "Long Tall Howard" on music video in channel 2. Which I always tune in after "eat bulaga." Growing up in high school that this song becomes the soundtrack of everyday high school life, crushes ❤& infatuations, & parties. The only single hit by Allison that made our younger teen lives so memorable.
Thank you Allison for this beautiful song 🎵 classic and irreplaceable. Allison Moyet had such a beautiful and powerful voice that were all gonna love it up to now in 2024.

The 1980s was probably the greatest decade for music. The musical diversity that we all enjoyed was incredible...This decade tops even the 1960s.. and that decade was great. But the 1980s was something else.....It really was... This is just one top song from that decade

Whereas the 1980s had that as well as HipHop, House, and Techno battling it out as well. Plus the 1980s UK British music invasion was even bigger than the first one (in THE 1960s) with more groups obtaining success through it.

Vince Clarke is a wizard on the synths and Alison on vocal duties, superb.
My parents told me that everytime this song would play as a 2.5 to 3 year old, I would dance my little butt off. They and my siblings thought it was cute. I've loved Yazoo ever since. Alison has such a beautiful and unique voice. ❤

I'm 54 and this hit when I was in my formative high school/early college years. There was NOTHING like this...cold synth with jazz/blues voice. Dancy, drinky, party. I felt cool for a minute being in the know.
Same. The early '80's started great: eclectic mix with New Wave groups like Yazz, Communards, Cure, etc. Things got cheesy circa '88, but it was fun while it lasted. Pass the mousse and "Drakkar Noir", please....
