I made this recipe for my daughter's boyfriend who has a beard...also, my husband who doesn't have a beard. Both rave about this salve and my daughters boyfriend says it is the best he has ever used on his beard and how soothing and moisturizing it is. My husband too, he loves how it makes his skin feel. Thank you so much Ellen, you truly have a sharing spirit and are a joy to watch!
Hi Ellen, just want to say that last weekend I made a batch of 24 of these beard balms the way you did. It really is such an easy recipe to follow and was also so nice to make. The only difference I did with mine is that I used candelilla wax instead of beeswax and argan oil instead of jojoba oil. I used 8 different aftershave inspired fragrance oils and all turned out brilliantly. Thanks for a wonderful and easy beard balm recipe 😊
Ruth Ellen, thank you so much for your knowledge and kind spirit. I have used a couple of your recipes and my family members have greatly enjoyed them. It took a hot minute to figure out what you meant by giving me the percentages to figure out how to scale up or down the recipe. I work as a nurse, and some days, are extremely stressful. By listening to your voice, and making your recipes relaxes me, and give me comfort in creating something people will enjoy. I will always be grateful to you and your kind spirit...
This is definitely one I'll be trying. Thanks so much Ellen. Side point - I made your choc-mint lip balm a few months ago and have given away several tubes to family and friends. They all ABSOLUTELY RAVE about it (two people say it's the best they've ever used - one ladies husband, who is a cattleman, took hers and it never leaves his pocket, I'll have to send her another one). Such a beautiful simple recipe and yet so loved by my family and friends. Thanks again Ellen - you're a legend for sharing.
I followed this last week to make my own Beard Balm! My only change is I substituted Grapeseed Oil instead of Olive Oil otherwise I went step by step. This was so easy to make, and the balm is absolutely amazing! The Oak and Whiskey scent smells so good. I also made a second batch with the same brand of oils and bought their Pipe Tobacco scent which was equally as amazing! Thank you so much for this video!
I made this today for my hubby who has a long thick beard. I changed the liquid oils for his skin. Omg he LOVES it❤ set up beautifully and in a 2 oz tin.
You are the best Ellen, humbly ALWAYS selflessly sharing, I appreciate you so much for that and am so very inspired by you. Going to give this a try for my son and son-in-laws, they will love it I am sure, all have dry course beards. Looking forward to that beard oil recipe ❤
My husband has been asking me to make him something like this for a while now. This recipe looks good! Your recipes always are. ❤️ Thank you for sharing.
So many nourishing ingredients. Babassu would be a great substitute for coconut oil. It’s very moisturizing for hair. I learned this years ago from a young lady promoting products with it before it was a thing in North America. She worked at an orphanage in Costa Rica I think and the local women used it in their hair and you only need a little to keep it hydrated, particularly for coarse, kinky, coily hair. Perfect for beards because men’s face hair is more coarse and thick. Love your channel. ❤
I made my first beard balm. Just threw it together. 😬 I’ll plan better next time. But I used vitamin E oil and homemade comfrey extract in it. It’s working pretty well but I want to formulate it better especially for scent but the beard is softer than with commercially available beard balms.
I love that scent. It's an amazing fragrance. We are so much alike in our business. You are so sweet and explain things well. Thank you for all you do.
Oh my! Ellen you’re the best, thank you for the recipe, I’m going to try this for my hubby. I have used this fragrance from Morouge , love, love it!! I have used it for beard oil. I’m eventually going to make a cold processed soap to go with it. Thanks again for sharing.😘
Ellen I loved this. My hubby has a full beard and as of yet he hasn't found a balm he likes, so this is something that I would definitely consider trying out. I am only just starting making soap and doing melt and pour which I think everyone starts with. If you could recommend any good recipes I would be very grateful.
I'm just starting out as well and my husband also has a full beard. He was so happy when I told him about this recipe but asked if there was a matching beard oil. Any help with making a matching beard oil would be truly appreciated.
Hi Ellen! I made this except l made it vegan & added sunflower oil instead of jojoba oil. My fiancé will be my Guinea pig. 😂 I’m giving him 2 weeks to try it & see if it will work on his skin & beard. ❤️💕
I’ve been looking for something like this! There’s others but they don’t seem to be good like this one. I so appreciate it and will be trying it soon! THANKS SO MUCH!! Hugz, Tree
Ellen question for you, what type of shea butter do you use? Natural? Refined? etc? And thank you so much! You help inspire me to try creating new beard products!
Watched a few of your videos and they are very good and informative. Just come across this last week and will be doing this to add a new product line, can i ask have you made a beard oil video? Happy New Year to you too
This balm looks wonderful. I am going to make some for my brother. I am sure he will love it. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. I have a question regarding lotion bars. I made a batch and for some reason I increased the oils and butters and they are too soft. If I melt them down slowly and add more beeswax, and maybe cocoa butter and/or kokum butter would they be useable? If not I will just pitch them now and try again later. Thanks so much for your help and sharing your vast knowledge. Debbie
I'm going to try your recipe for my next batch of beard balm. Do you have a video showing how you clean up your tins, cups, bowls, tins, etc. after making balm or butter? I like to reuse my tins especially, but never seem to get them as clean as I want.
My fiancé has extremely sensitive skin. We’re getting married right around the corner. Anyway, l was reading several beard balms he bought had a lot of fillers like alcohol, which has known to cause dryness. Anyway, l got tired of him wasting money on beard products that hasn’t improved or made his beard softer. So since l’m frugal like Ellen & natural products l told him l got a recipe from Ellen Ruth, his like “when did you have a friend named Ellen Ruth.”😂 Anyway, Ellen l’ll have to try your recipe except l’m absolutely in LOVE with parrila (sp) wax vegan, vitamin E & organic cedar essential oil. We’ll be combining our finances once we’re married so told him l’ll make the next beard balm. So even though l’m not following your recipe exactly but watching you make the video it looks less intimidating. Sorry, I’m totally rambling here. I found all my products & l even found 2oz tin sliver cans at the Dollar Tree very similar to the ones on Amazon but $0.04 less & no shipping. Boy LOVE a bargain. I’ll let ya’ll know how it turns out. ❤️💕🎊🎉🥳 Very excited & thankful to learn something new as well as useful. 🤓💓💖💝
Hi Ellen, thank you so much for your tutorials!!! Question if possible can you make a video on fragrance Oils % usage? I can not comprehend on how it is measured and turned into grams.

I love your recipe. However, I only have Olive and Grapeseed Oils. Is this will make it smooth? At what temperature I can add the fragrance? My nephews all have bears. Always asked me for a lotion or balm. This will be great for them. Thank you Mrs. Ellen
Ellen can I just ask, I've ordered my 2oz tins, for to give this recipe a go, and realised there aluminium is this a problem.please say it's okay, I've only just started making soap etc, and have been waiting a while for the ingredients etc to arrive, and I now have everything to give it a go, yeah 😊. 🥰🇬🇧

No, Soywax wouldn’t be a good substitute, you could use candelilla wax instead. And you don’t want to replace the solid oils with liquid oils because it will affect the final consistency.

I want to make a large batch to give away to friends and family, or more specifically scale to to a large size instead of making two? I don't want to make a mistake and ruin my expensive oils and butters.. Thank you for your time
The recipe in the description box is in % so you can scale it as much as needed and it works in both grams and oz. Also google has a great grams to oz feature.
Ok thank you! Also I want to use candelilla wax instead of beeswax but I’m having a hard time knowing how much of it to add to replace the beeswax. I’ve done lots of research but I’m not finding a lot of helpful answers
I recently tried making this recipe, but I keep getting small crystallized patches on the outer layer of my beard balm. I know they are harmless, but does anyone have any recommendations on how to limit/prevent this from occurring? Thanks!
@@EllenRuthSoap Thanks for the timely response to my comment! I thought it might be due to “overheating” the waxes and butters, but I wasn’t entirely sure. So, melt it at the lowest temperature possible, and remove from the heat source as soon as all the waxes and butters fully emulsify?

Yes, you could replace some of the liquid oil for castor.

No, it's not the same as CBD oil😉
Can soywax be used in seats of beeswax?
Coconut oil - can one use fractured so it’s not solid?
No, Soywax wouldn’t be a good substitute, you could use candelilla wax instead. And you don’t want to replace the solid oils with liquid oils because it will affect the final consistency.

I recently tried making this recipe, but I keep getting small crystallized patches on the outer layer of my beard balm. I know they are harmless, but does anyone have any recommendations on how to limit/prevent this from occurring? Thanks!
My first thought is, is it cooling too fast? or over heating the oils and butters? But I'm not sure if those are a factor..
Thank you!
O să încerc rețeta.💚
