I came here for the LP kit to see the finish. As you did this unboxing, it reminded me that I did a diy fret leveling tool using a square dowel, double sided tape and various grit sandpaper. Worked great when filing back the razor sharp fret ends. I ran it length wise along the fingerboard at the fret-ends.
I am looking at this exact kit! My daughter asked me why I havent built her a guitar yet, and this seems like the best option for kits. I was considering replacing the pots and switch with something that could put up with the abuse a young kid could throw at it. Other than the frets needing dressed, any other concerns or issues that really stood out? Does the hardware seem decent enough? Also turquoise is a great choice!!!!
Why not just buy a new or used Squier Mini? I paid $150 for a new white with maple fretboard. It was set up right out of the box and pretty dam nice for a cheap guitar.
Because some people like building things. It lets you know how they're assembled, how to work on them, and how to maintain them. If you just buy it it's essentially a black box. It also gives you the option to upgrade parts as you see fit.
looks good brother vest!

Cool, thanks! I love that idea! Always trying to learn something new! 🤓
Nice kit. Your son ought to have a bit of fun helping build it.
What is the scale on this?
Thank you.
