    Not sure about using the wood clue in that neck joint. If you ever need to remove or replace the neck it could be too difficult. Traditionally hide glue is used there. It can be heated to soften for removal. Is it a set neck or bolt on? LPs are usually set dovetail joints.

      @goodbettervest 11 дней назад

      It looks like it is real wood and responds like real wood with the sanding, etc. I am not familiar with "Zebrawood" at all, but the grain appears to be real wood. It is just as heavy as a mahogany Les Paul, and the body is just lightly thinner. I hope that helps. 🤪 Thanks for subscribing! Looking forward to your comments, help, questions, etc. 😁

    Probably why it doesnt stan near the binding is probably due to glue leak age from when they glued the bending. The glue creates a lager that the dye wont penetrate

      @goodbettervest I don't really know how to explain it but it's when the amp can't get too loud since it's a small speaker it starts farting out and that's what I meant about the popping noise, that's what I think the update did, it just reduced a bit of the farting out noise if that makes sense

      The paint was 2k enamel and the primer came off in chunks, soo it is mostly removed. Picked up some Mohawk deep red lacquer, since Mohawk sealant was applied... We shall see how that works. (Wear a good air filter mask and spray outside... It filled my apartment for several days.

  • @clutch2827

    I'm in the exact same spot you are. I have that grain filler too. I 'think' you would use the grain filler if you intended on painting the guitar because it fills the pores. There would be nothing for the stain to 'soak' into. Mine has become a 'trans amber' top and I plan on leaving the body natural mahogany. I'm using a few light coats of tru-oil to make the grain pop as well as tint the mahogany and then gloss the entire thing with solarez. If you want to get a preview of what the dye will look like glossed, rub it with Naptha. It will clean the dust off and it evaporates quickly so it doesn't raise the grain. The areas where it won't take dye is likely glue that has seeped through the veneer. You could gently scrape or file those areas and spot dye them. I ran into the same thing especially on the headstock.

    Great video. Huge shame on Positive Grid for their update process which is horrendous and confusing. This video shouldn’t be needed, but sadly it is. And even worse, i watched this too late - bc who would think you’d need to watch an entire video of what to not do when updating a device. Now my spark go is completely bricked bc i used the wrong software to update. Doesn’t respond to any button presses or show any lights etc. waiting for spark support to get back to me.

    In color, if it is lighter right and darker left, do the light blue color to its left end, then the next color (darker blue) Starts at its Left end point and works to the right . As it gets closer to the lighter color , you are running out of dye on the rag and so it is getting lighter (to match). Same with black at the left end : Start at the left end and work towards the lighter color (in this case, the darker blue) Left to right to add color , right to left to make it darker.

    Rit dye raises the grain ? Then, water the wood first, raise the grain yourself, then sand it to your liking. Then Rit won't raise the grain 'cause YOU already did !!

    • @goodbettervest
      @goodbettervest Месяц назад

      Again, thank you @ppgwhereeverett! Rit dye is water based, unlike the Angelus Leather dye which is alcohol based, so it evaporates quickly. I love the raise the grain yourself suggestion. Thank you!

  • @ppgwhereeverett4412

    The problem with compressed air is that the compressor is "Oiling" and "Watering" the air it blows and that residue is then imbedded in the wood grain. Not Good ! One MUST have a water/oil separator on their compressor or it leaves a residue.

    I didn't have a good experience with them. I wanted a Steinberger GM2T body but routed for a Floyd Rose and painted white with black binding. They said it was already routed that way. I had to send them pictures of a guitar body with a Floyd Rose rout. They consider any floating tremolo to be a Floyd Rose. Anyway, after a few emails they finally got what I was getting at. They said it would be ready in about 45 days. Four months went by and still no guitar body. I only had a couple of weeks left before it would be too late to file a claim with PayPal to get my money back so I opened a claim. PP contacted Pango and the next day Pango tells me the guitar is almost ready (I've been told that several times after 45 days from placing the order) and to give them more time. I felt this was a stall tactic so time with PP would run out. So I didn't stop the claim and they said if I don't, they'll send the guitar as is and they will never do business with me again. So they rushed the build and sent me a bare wood body with white binding and they didn't drill the holes for the bridge posts. I made a video about it and they saw it and emailed me asking me to take the video down. Their website said that if you make a YT video, good or bad, or mention the purchase on Facebook, they'll send a $15 refund. I never got that. When I brought it to their attention, they sent me a link that they made up just for me. It said there would be a $20 refund for a YT video. There was no mention of Facebook. They have sent me a few emails asking me to remove my video. I have not. Long story short, they get bitter when you call them out on their crappy business practices. I ordered the PWT-716 kit without hardware but paid $55 extra for paint and Floyd Rose rout (and I explained the post holes needed to be drilled 74mm apart) They only refunded me $30 for their mistakes.

    This is ridiculous. I bought the most expensive mini amp on the market and it's not even complete. I have no idea what any of the terms you are using mean, I don't own a computer, and why was this thing allowed to leave the factory like this? I emailed positive grid and they said I had to get in line and wait, and that if I emailed them again, it would put me further back on the list. I would never have bought this thing if I had to finish the manufacturing end of it. Horrible product, atrocious company, they should recall these things and fix them at their own expense.

    Why do I have to update anything on something that costs twice as much as anything comparable on the market? Why was this allowed to leave the factory like this? Now, im out of town, I don't even own a laptop, I damn sure can't program one, and I'm getting better sounds plugged straight into my 10 year old tascam 4 track, which I got for $50, free delivery, than with this peice of junk. I have unfortunately learned this lesson several times, I guess not learned, but tried again and again with the same lack of success. 🤪 I would love any suggestions of a different grain filler because Aquacoat has been pretty frustrating.

    Why would a firmware update change the sound. That would mess with all the tones people have already created. I'm pretty sure the update would be for anything and everything except the sound. Bluetooth connection can be sketchy on mine and I haven't updated so hopefully that's an issue that has been fixed.

    Stop with the CONSTANT different camera angles, very annoying.

      Totally get it! I am just starting and trying different techniques for attention grabbers. Thanks for your comment, I'll make sure to look into that.

    IMHO gluing on the neck before finish is a mistake. Prior to gluing, you can make rather big corrections to the finish. After, it becomes difficult or impossible to selectively change stain.

      I can definitely see the pros of not gluing the neck on until after. I am just trying to learn all the ways and see which I prefer. Thank you so much for the comment! 🤓

    After the update the guitar has more treble with the first example. Maybe it is because the camera microphone and the amp weren't in the same exact positions for each demonstration.

    I thought it sounded much more clear and bright after update - just listening to your video.

      And here I just about bought it... I don't have a PC or mac.... Should really be able to do this on the phone... Considering that's where the frigging thing runs on....

    I am looking at this exact kit! My daughter asked me why I havent built her a guitar yet, and this seems like the best option for kits. I was considering replacing the pots and switch with something that could put up with the abuse a young kid could throw at it. Other than the frets needing dressed, any other concerns or issues that really stood out? Does the hardware seem decent enough? Also turquoise is a great choice!!!!
