If you are taking your ASUS ROG G60V laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.

Whats the size (thickness) of layer of thermalpads under GPU? Does anybody know? Never changed it.
I have this laptop, G60VX rbbx05....Went bad back in 2015 when something fell on the laptop, now the image doesn't come on.... Hooked it up to a monitor and the screen is pretty garbled, so not sure if it's an issue w/ the graphics card inside or some connection.. I've since built a desktop, albeit, now older, but have considered trying to fix the old laptop, but it seems incredibly tedious in getting it taken apart. Not sure what to do with it, seems like it may not be worth fixing, especially since I don't really know what's wrong with it. Right now it's just a paperweight. Cool video.
Does the video looks bad on external screen whole the time or if you are in bios it looks fine? Could it also be some software issue?
Maybe try to load via USB to bootable Linux and see how this looks on the external screen. If the same, that's would mean definitely your graphics card.
If let's say on bootable Ubuntu it also doesn't work correctly - you would need to probably replace a graphics card, I think it can be changed. But that's a whole project.
Or sell the whole laptop as is on eBay for not much money...
@@regazzz I just tried to hook it up for the first time since taking out of storage, but my HDMI cable is bad. From what I remember, trying to hook it up years ago, it looked bad on the external screen the whole time..... When I turn the laptop on as is it just shows a blank, black, illuminated screen...On the external screen from what I remember it showed multicolor/ uneven, cut off and distorted sections of the desktop I haven't tried the thing w/ Linux or Ubuntu, I'm not familiar with those ....I'm almost positive it's a hardware issue ....I've considered just giving or selling to a PC repair service...I could buy a new card on Ebay and try to fix but I don't really have the time or patience for that project, I dunno... I bought the system from best buy sometime around 2009 or 10

Now I have a charger but what i didn't notice before it doesn't have ram installed.
So is it normal that when the ram isn't installed nothing wanna show on the screen?

@@Freddy1036 I found the interesting thing - you need to use 2Rx16 PC2-5300 RAM. If I use 2Rx16 PC2-6400 or 2Rx8 PC2-5300 my laptop doesn't start.
How to fix power on but still black screen?
Could be as simple as bad memory or memory slot on motherboard

@@regazzz forgot to say thank you. the old man’s up and running again, i think i’ll probably get a x9100 3.06ghz cpu soon as a decent upgrade, p7450 is meh, recently did ram upgrade to 8gb and a little while ago modded the speaker looking thing on the bottom for better cooling

@@regazzz i believe most are still capable of doing some stuff. there’s vmware, but i don’t want to recycle my old computers and has a few quirks. plus i can’t put in my game disks on a modern computer! windows 7 on real hardware from 2008-2012 is always wayyyy more nostalgic cuz tbh it kinda bothers me seeing windows 7 on a brand new computer, mostly laptop, just doesn’t feel right

Во-первых, спасибо за видео! Очень сильно нужен гайд по сборке-разборке
По поводу отвёртки. Как-то привык, что винтики откручиваются вручную, а шуруповёртом легко сорвать шляпки. А металлический инструмент оставляет коцки на краях
@@TheDimamit Спасибо за добрые слова. Я уже последнее время отвёрткой разбираю так как шуруповёртом не сильно быстрее.
Пластиковый медиатор конечно подходит, но у меня быстро стачивается, хотя гитарный я не использовал, кредитки и всякие другие пластиковые карты старые лучше работают.
