People dont understand. More Gpu cores dont give you higher resolution. Its memory bandwidth that hinders your output resolution most of the time. Its like spitting out high quality 60 PNG files at 4k resolution in one second. On top of game logic, CPU draw calls, tons of shader data, high resolution textures add in nanite or ray tracing data and that memory pool can be a limiting factor.

I absolutely LOVED the TV snap feature of the Xbox One! I mean loved it! Loved playing Forza while watching the NFL. The drop in resolution for games didn’t bother me. Just wish they would’ve given us the option to keep that OS, if we wanted.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is absolutely disappointing they're only four games that are worth buying a PlayStation 5 original console or PlayStation 5 Slim, but to be honest a PlayStation 5 Pro is absolutely pointless, I mean the four games are good and all but you only have four Originals PlayStation 5 games that are actually brand new while the rest are either remakes or failure online services. No out of all the PlayStation consoles the PlayStation 5 Pro is not a console worth buying so I'm just going to say wait till the reveal of the PlayStation 6 and buy the PlayStation 5 Pro when it's at its cheapest or better yet boycott this console so this way Sony won't go and think that it's okay to rip off your customers and produce Apple iPhone prices for your consoles.
It's the best console to play on because you not only get first party Sony games, but you also get third party exclusives and all the modern multiplatform games that Switch and last gen consoles can't run. Basically everything that makes gaming great and the only competition is PC.

I still think the price is valid if they are looking to make a profit off hardware sales, which has not been the historical norm... that said, the upgrade in performance / visuals is so slight, it wont be worth it unless you have cash to burn. Gaming needs to evolve not in terms of fidelity, but in terms of innovative game design, and a real focus on fun rather than mechanics that are purely designed to get you to log in for hundreds of hours simply to unlock stuff.

Hardware improvements cost the manufacture per unit and therefore it is expected those costs would need to be passed onto the purchaser plus a potential markup. Software improvements if allocated over a large enough quantity base, especially if said software development is to be used on future generation products, should be a minimal markup per unit. So the $200, or 28% markup from the base PS5 unit without a base or disk drive, ....well that is just price gouging and a cash grab for a mid-gen unit, and is obvious to anyone other then a PS5 shill; and it will ultimately hurt their PS6 sales unless they plan on delaying their release window beyond the PS5 normal life cycle duration.

More, if you are after the best graphics, the $700-$850 cost of a Pro puts it into "You can get a PC instead". Xbox was right on not doing a mid-gen upgrade.. the tech isn’t there yet for consoles. This generation has been so poor. It's been a generation of price creep. Whether it be games, subscriptions, or the hardware themselves. We've had gamers complain about performance. Devs complain about the lack of power and there has only been a handful of new "next gen" titles. Its been a sh!tshow tbh. I was hoping for at least 1080p 60fps this gen. I'd be more than happy with that but they are pushing this 4k RT bs and the price follows that. I get all that on my pc.
People do need to keep in mind regardless if your running a 4080/4090 if your running Alan Wake 2 at max 4k Quality Dlss your at 1440p internal res and Dlss perf is 1080p it's the final image quality and performance that truly matters don't focus on the metrics

Ps5 pro here in Canada is $950+ not including taxes. Depending on which province you’re buying it from. It is so not worth it. Consider no blue Ray drive, no Stand and cpu didn’t even get proper bump in performance. Like at least ps4 pro cpu did get some. Some ps4 pro games where cpu limited. Same thing going happen here with ps5 pro games. I assume Sony did this for less cost or for compatibly with all ps4/5 games or both. Zen 3 cpu at least here Canada are still not cheap. They maybe in USA but not here. If system came with zen 3 cpu and RDNA3 gpu and 4k blue ray disk drive, then might be worth $1000 here.

I just don't get why if people can save this much money on a Pro that makes NO sense........ Just save a bit more and get yourself a pretty decent PC.
It is just weird, that you would pay this much for a Pro, then in 3 too 4 years, even more on a PS6, where you are limited to PS games, yet on a PC, you will have all PS games, and more exclusives are too come, all Xbox and game pass games, Steam games, GOG games and ya don't have too pay too play online, it just makes ZERO sense.
For one not all games are on pc and for 2 not everyone like messing with pc and prefers sit down and game.

For it to be worth it they needed to upgrade the CPU. Games that are cpu demanding will still not hit the 60fps mark and still lack behind series x.... so yeah its a mistake.

The boost over XBX isn't enough to justify the large price increase, esp since many of the biggest games will still be CPU locked.
More, if you are after the best graphics, the $700-$850 cost of a Pro puts it into "You can get a PC instead".
And, icing on the cake, it allows MS a good deal of freedom when setting the price of their next console. $650 for a next gen console now seems reasonable

The people that have held off updating their launch PS5 until the PS5 Pro details came out will either fork out the extra cash and buy a PS5 Pro or they don't see the benefit for the price tag and will instead buy a PS5 Slim. Sony will most likely have increased console sales either way!

no no no… for a next gen console.. successor to the PS5… that resolution needs to be 4K 60 or close to it.. not lower. That’s not an improvement.. it’s a compromise. There’s no way around that. The picture quality might be good.. but that’s still a compromise and not much different then what the PS5 and Series X are dealing with now. Xbox was right on not doing a mid-gen upgrade.. the tech isn’t there yet for consoles. Keep in mind that when making consoles there are a lot of compromises.. they can’t be a full blown PC.. they have to be more compact with limited ventilation. These consoles ARE getting closer and closer to PCs. It’s also true that resolution isn’t king… but for an “upgrade” for $700… no. Hard Pass. It’s a waste of money for an incremental upgrade only. Wait for PS6 and the next Xbox. They… will be worth the money.
Sony is literally playing catchup with AI upscaling and despite being 2-3 yrs late want to charge users $200 for the mid-gen refresh. It's not that it won't be an improvement over the base model, but with only the GPU really seeing noticeable improvement. It's unlikely the results justify the price for current PS5 owners. Because at best you're paying $700-$800 for 2 years of in most cases slightly better FPS. We're likely only a handful of years at best from a new generation of consoles. On the brightside you might be able to get a good deal on a PS5 soon. If only because the ones who do decide to upgrade will likely be selling their PS5.

This generation has been so poor. It's been a generation of price creep. Whether it be games, subscriptions, or the hardware themselves. We've had gamers complain about performance. Devs complain about the lack of power and there has only been a handful of new "next gen" titles. Its been a sh!tshow tbh.
I was hoping for at least 1080p 60fps this gen. I'd be more than happy with that but they are pushing this 4k RT bs and the price follows that. I get all that on my pc.
People do need to keep in mind regardless if your running a 4080/4090 if your running Alan Wake 2 at max 4k Quality Dlss your at 1440p internal res and Dlss perf is 1080p it's the final image quality and performance that truly matters don't focus on the metrics

Ps5 pro here in Canada is $950+ not including taxes. Depending on which province you’re buying it from. It is so not worth it. Consider no blue Ray drive, no Stand and cpu didn’t even get proper bump in performance. Like at least ps4 pro cpu did get some. Some ps4 pro games where cpu limited. Same thing going happen here with ps5 pro games.
I assume Sony did this for less cost or for compatibly with all ps4/5 games or both. Zen 3 cpu at least here Canada are still not cheap. They maybe in USA but not here.
If system came with zen 3 cpu and RDNA3 gpu and 4k blue ray disk drive, then might be worth $1000 here.
The Canadian price is comparable to where your currency sits against the American dollar. Nothing to complain about.
Look at the UK price tag and to a lesser extent euro. These are way out of wack. This is the future without xbox as they don't really have a market here or in Europe.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is a lost cause on 9th gen consoles ps5pro included! The game is in CPU hell and there's little to no change in the CPU. If you aren't running a 5800X3D/12700k or better, it even sucks on PC. No shot there's a big improvement on ps5p. (Maybe in the wilderness)😢

PS5 pro is $700 not $800. Remember the 2tb Galaxy version of the series X is only $100 cheaper. Sure, youre missing the drive, but you get a more powerful GPU. I'd rather have a ps5 pro at $700 than a $600 series X.

That Series X is a limited edition you can’t use that as a comparison and most PlayStation users have physical games so they’re gonna have to buy that disc drive plus the stand plus tax you’re looking at close to 850 just in the US alone. @@flipyapd2321 nobody really cares about the Green sprinkles. The main selling feature is the 2tb of storage with the same 4 year old tech for 100 dollars more. Sucks we lose the disc drive. Stupid on sonys part, but you a good bump in performance, 2tb ssd and advanced upscaling technology. Which should help mitigate cpu heavy games.
There are alot of ps users who like disc's, but on the flip side there are alot of ppl who prefer digital...
So adding the cost of a disc drive is not an ABSOLUTE neither is the stand as one can just lay it down horizontal.
