  • Introducing the newest addition to my assortment of bows - Persian biocomposite bow by Grozer. You'll see the bow in action through helmet cam, ie. from mounted archer's perspective, on two different horseback archery tracks with two different ways of handling the arrows.
    You can find Grozer online shop of traditional recurve bows here:

    A Finnish guy shooting a Hungarian made bow after like thousands of years, in front of me on the internet. I can not wrap my head around how awesome is that!
    It's like the culmination of history from the times back when we lived close somewhere east of europe is in this 5 min video. Or I drank a beer more than I should have.
    But anyway instantly subbed!

    Excellent video as usual. I noticed your shot sequence is almost identical to those shooting Manchu bows in the historical military sense as described in Gao Ying’s military manual. Beautiful bow as well, Csaba makes real works of art.

    Really puts it into perspective how chaotic it would be with 100s of archers on horseback loosing arrows whilst riding circles around their enemy.

    Onpa kivan näköinen rata teillä! Onko tuo torniradan teline joku purettava ja paikalle kannettava malli? Mä oon käytännössä nähnyt toimivimmat ratkaisut niin, että ne on rakennettu suoraan paikalleen, mutta tuollainen purettava ja kevytrakenteinen olisi kyllä siitä hyvä, että kaikkialle ei saa rakentaa pysyvää tornin telinettä. Pysyykö tuo ihan hyvin pystyssä kisasuorituksen ajan ja kuinka työläs on kantaa ja pystyttää? Miten se on tehty?

    • @UgriArcher
      @UgriArcher  3 года назад +1

      Joo toi torniteline on tosiaankin purettava ja liikuteltava, mahtuu farmariautoon. Oon kehitellyt sitä jo jonkin aikaa ja kunhan saan aikaiseksi niin saatan postailla siitä tarkemmin suomi-ratsujouska fb-ryhmään. Pysyy hyvin pystyssä jos ei tuule ihan kauheasti. Puusta tehty. Erillinen alusta ja siihen istutettava jalka/teline joka taululle. Painoa on, mutta pystytys hoituu puolessa tunnissa.

    • @beawiarchery
      @beawiarchery 3 года назад +1

      Ugri Archer Kuulostaa hyvältä! Jään odottelemaan infoa tuonne Suomen FB-ryhmään :) Autoon mahtuva malli olisi aivan huikean hyvä!

    • @UgriArcher
      @UgriArcher  3 года назад +2

      @@beawiarchery Okei, koitan postailla sinne kunhan ehdin dokumentoida tuota sopivasti. Itsellä on harrastuspaikat aika kaukana, eikä pysyviä ratoja, niin piti sitten kehitellä. :)

    What is the best bow for beginners recurve oh compound and would you recommend wooden arrows or retain and what kind of quiver would you recommend

    • @UgriArcher
      @UgriArcher  3 года назад +2

      As traditional archer compounds aren't my cup of tea. The exact bow type depends on the archery style or tradition you want to start practising. The beginner bow needs to be light enough, so don't pick too strong one to start with. It's best if you can try different bows somewhere, with an instructor, before making up your mind. Asiatic recurves are the kind of bows you see most often on my channel. Of the quivers, I use hip quiver as seen for example in this video, and I have found out it's easy for beginner also to get started with.

    Is this bow asymetrical as the historic persian bows, or symmetrical as modern laminated bows?

    • @UgriArcher
      @UgriArcher  3 года назад +2

      The lower limb is slighty shorter, but I wouldn't call it asymmetrical. I think the historic persian bows weren't really heavily assymmetric, at least the museum/collection examples I've seen.

    • @markusdirschl3752
      @markusdirschl3752 3 года назад +1

      @@UgriArcher first I wanna wish you a happy new year and thank you for the reply! I was hoping for a slight asymetry like 1 or 2 inches which should be enough to bring the arrow close to the center of the bow. I think I have to save up for this bow :)

    • @UgriArcher
      @UgriArcher  3 года назад +2

      @@markusdirschl3752 Happy new year to You too! It's around 1 inch difference with this one. And yep, the total center preference is sometimes mentioned in the old manuscripts regarding but it's not necessary.

  • @jamescasady4127

    And how tough are the longbows

    • @UgriArcher
      @UgriArcher  3 года назад +1

      As tough as necessary :) Historical war longbows were super strong, but you can find (or order) them in variety of draw weights also suitable for beginners.
