Love these.. I have a large family, and the $5 dinners are doubled for us, but that helps keep all the kids and friends they bring over full. Plus like you said.. we are able to splurge when we really want too.
For ground beef I now buy the Walmart frozen burger patties. 100% beef, usually cheaper than fresh, plus the bonus of being able to dictate the portion size you wish to use. And you don't have to remember to thaw it first as it doesn't take long for the individual patties to thaw in the skillet.
I used to do this at Costco but my kids father (now ex!) said it had additives although the ingredients said just beef 🤷🏼♀️ I forgot about that! I should do it again.
Absolutely LOVE the $5 Meal plans! Crockpots or anything. Really helps me stay on budget and we've discovered new dishes (new to us at least) that we love!
I loved this video and would love more, not just because of the frugal nature of it or because it's crockpot season. I'm just 41 but was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease when my youngest was born. He's 9 now. I've recently developed asthma, which has me super fatigued. I didn't know that was even a side effect. I also have had degenerative disc disease since I was a teenager and thoracic outlet syndrome since the autoimmune disease caused blood clots during my last pregnancy and subsequent hospital stay. I have 4 kids, and I work from home. My husband works outside the home, so I try to still do the cooking and house stuff as much as possible. The easier the recipes, the better.
When I cook anything in crockpot that take several hours I make a larger batch ( takes same amount of time). Then I freeze in labeled Zip Locks left overs, so now I have another meal just heat and serve. This works well when having a busy day.
These are great ideas! You don't need to be worried about the cost to utilize and enjoy these meals. It is just extra nice that it is easy on the pocketbook.
My favorite one pot chicken and rice is still very budget friendly and a great elevated beans and rice. I'm sure it could work in the Crockpot, too. White rice, Sazon, cooked chicken (left overs, prepackaged, rotisserie, canned - whatever you have), corn, black beans, Rotel.
Oh I'm so glad I come across this channel. This will give me some more ideas for my Crock-Pot. With inflation or budgets are rather tiny so anything that would help! Thank you! 😊 🙏
Try shopping Kroger or Safeway if you have one . Their ground beef is alway on sale for 2.99 lb and they sometimes have a 10$ off 30 coupon to stack with the sale !
Hello! You have a new subscriber! My name is April and I’m happy to have found your channel while scrolling through RUclips. I like that you are an everyday mom just feeding her family and sharing the recipes with us. I have already scrolled through and watched a few of your crockpot recipes and already found a few to try. I am disabled and stay sick a lot but I still want to feed and do for my family however that is not possible a lot of days. Easy crockpot meals or one pot kind of dump and go meals are easiest for me to prepare and as a wife and mom it makes me feel good to know that I have prepared them a meal. Also, most crockpot meals give us enough for leftovers or I’ll double it for leftovers. I also like the budget friendly meals you have shared! I know everyone is feeling the high prices at the grocery store right now so these affordable meals are helpful!! Can’t wait to see what all you have coming up but until then I’m going to catch up on some of your past content and find some good recipes that my family can enjoy! Have a great week!!😊
Thank you for including a price breakdown with the ingredients list! I try to follow along with you when I’m cooking and it’s nice to have this as a rough draft!
I am all about these budget meals videos and especially the crockpot meal plans. I found a ground beef and pork blend at our Kroger, it was 80/20 and was $7 for 2 lbs. I haven't tried it out yet but it looked good.
Everything looked delicious! I made your pepper jack chicken pasta tonight for dinner! So so good. My husband said it had some heat but my 7 year old granddaughter ate a big plateful and loved it! No a word about the heat! 🤣😂🤣 Have a great weekend!
$5 meals video is very helpful. Thank you Mindy for posting. Love the Enchilada beans&rice. Yum. I can envision any leftovers being placed in a tortilla wrap!😋
I did see golden mushroom soup which has mushroom and tomato so a can of that might save even more money . Please make Halloween or harvest snacks my mom and I love your channel.
I enjoyed this so much that I saved the video. There's just the two of us now and some of these recipes will work out well. The chicken enchilada would make excellent rolled enchiladas without a huge additional expense..
When we tried the cheaper version of the ground chicken, it had a weird taste to it. So i go for the upgraded version these days lol. I like to get stuffing mix and make a chicken meatloaf of sorts is so good!!!
Re v 8 juice it is very good in soup. I use it in vegetable beef soup and Maryland crab. Dollar tree sells it by the can so I do not have to buy the huge 48 oz can
I love these ideas! I’m definitely going to give the “enchilada” beans a try! Never thought of adding the enchilada sauce to mine, that sounds so good 😊
We found with ours that the instant pot slow cooker does not reach the same temperatures as the OG crock pot. I had a couple of dishes turn out raw on the inside and cooked on the outside, and another was kept on “keep warm” at an unsafe temperature (
I’d love to see some $5 vegetarian recipes. I’m trying to add more vegetables to my meals and prefer them mixed in rather than plain veggies on the side. Thanks!
These are good ideas ! I have a question... How do any of these meals "freeze". For a Single Person or College Student... sometimes even a 5 dollar crock pot meal can be too much....
make half the recipe (a couple meals) and make something else with the rest of the ingredients - my slow cooker is an ancient Kenmore 1.5 Qt so can only make small batches anyway 🇨🇦🙏
Hi Mindy..I really appreciate your videos thank you! Recently I have moved in with my son and daughter-in-law into their basement apt. w/o a kitchen. I have my crock-pot and electric skillet, a small fridge w/ freezer and electric kettle. Your video on $5 crock-pot meals was exactly what I needed! Do helpful!

I would love to see more $5 crockpot ideas! This is helping me out of a mental rut if "what's for dinner?" Plus, I like simple and easy. Thanks Mindy!
Yes! Please do make this a series. With the cost of everything, these videos are so very helpful!
Love these.. I have a large family, and the $5 dinners are doubled for us, but that helps keep all the kids and friends they bring over full. Plus like you said.. we are able to splurge when we really want too.
As someone freshly on my own and still pretty new to cooking, I'd love for this to be a series!!!

Check out the frozen section, my local Walmart has 1lb rolls of frozen ground turkey for less than $2!!
I loved the dressed up beans and rice recipe. Our food pantry always provides that and I’m always trying to utilize it in new ways!
I love your videos! I think it's a great idea for the $5 crockpot series!❤
More please. I’m a solo diner and can see these cut down to fit my baby crock pot and serve my single need. Thank you!
Add 1/2 a cup of sour cream to your corn bread mix before baking. It makes the bread less crumbly! Love your videos!
I appreciate your concern for nutrition - like adding the butter for a bit of fat. Growing bodies need good fats plus they make you feel full.
Check for the frozen tube of Festive Ground Turkey. Usually comes and goes at my Walmart. But currently back in stock and rolled back to $1.98/lb.
Festive? Does it say festive? What makes it called that?😅
These budget meals have been God sent the past year since I subscribed to your channel.
Glad I can help! Sometimes it's nice to have a few different ideas to choose from. Even on a tight budget.
I would like to see more of these. Apart from the savings, I do not use my crockpot nearly enough! Thank you for the video!
Absolutely LOVE the $5 Meal plans! Crockpots or anything. Really helps me stay on budget and we've discovered new dishes (new to us at least) that we love!
Those enchilada beans look amazing!
They were soooooo tasty! I thought they would also be good over a baked potato, like a chili cheese potato.
Good morning Mindy. 😊 Your videos always make me happy. Peace and love and have a wonderful weekend ❤

Yes! More please! These all looked really delicious! Thank you!!!!
I always love a good crockpot recipe! This time of year our farm crew is in the field and it is a lifesaver to have meals ready when they are hungry.
Wish we had them prices in Australia. But still great ideas.

Another great video. My crockpot is definitely my favorite kitchen tool. I've used it everyday so far this week.
I have several crockpots, and they all serve different purposes. It's definitely my favorite kitchen short cut!
(Posting as Joyce) Love the cheap meal ideas, especially for the crockpot!! Thank you. 😊

Love love love $5 dinner ideas, but I don't have a crockpot! Could you tell us how to make these on the stove if that's all we have?
When we tried the cheaper version of the ground chicken, it had a weird taste to it. So i go for the upgraded version these days lol. I like to get stuffing mix and make a chicken meatloaf of sorts is so good!!!
Good to know! I definitely prefer ground beef, but it's really hard to work it into the budget meals these days!
Thx for sharing, loved all of the recipes ❤

Nom! Thank you.
Have you ever used the slow cooker function on the instant pot? How did it turn out?
We found with ours that the instant pot slow cooker does not reach the same temperatures as the OG crock pot. I had a couple of dishes turn out raw on the inside and cooked on the outside, and another was kept on “keep warm” at an unsafe temperature (

Just saw the ramen recipe. Tomorrow i am taking a package if ramen cook and add tonights leftover turkey. Yummy lunch
I have been buying that Walmart house brand ground chicken for awhile. It is really good and it is a good way to not eat as much red meat
It cooked up really nice in the recipes I used it in!
Wonderful budget friendly recipes Mindy.
Thanks so much! 😊
ramein soup...great idea...I bet you could also use canned chicken..looks good
yes, for sure! You probably wouldn't need the slow cooker, then, and could cook it up really quickly on the stove.
These are good ideas ! I have a question... How do any of these meals "freeze". For a Single Person or College Student... sometimes even a 5 dollar crock pot meal can be too much....
