- How to perform GPS navigation maps update in #BMW with iDrive system (CIC, NBT, NBT-Evo; Business and Professional) though USB port in the glovebox of your BMW car. In this video I'm showing it in BMW E84 X1 with CIC Business navigation and MOTION set of maps.
#Update requires:
- BMW car with iDrive CIC, NBT or NBT-Evo system.
- USB drive with new map for your iDrive system.
- FSC activation key code for your car/map combination.
- about 40 minutes of your time.
After connecting the USB drive with update package, you will see a notification on your navigation screen. Next you will be asked to enter FSC activation key code. You can buy the code proving your VIN and maps that you want to install. Or you can generate this code yourself with a free software linked below. After that update procedure should start. In some rare cases (like in this E84) procedure was going forward only if the car was moving. As soon as the car stopped, procedure was paused. Then it was resumed automatically when car was on the move again.
While the update is performed you can already use new maps streamed from the USB drive directly. Update will proceed in background and new maps are already visible on the screen.
When copying is done, navigation will reboot. You can now remove the USB drive and use updated navigation database.

Hello! You got the usb in bmw dealership with the uptade inside?I got a paper from bmw from the post and it only said the code?Any help how can i install the uptade?
Check if there's a self-update package on BMW website. Maybe you just need to download official maps and use the code to active it in your car.

My car's navigation system isn't active. Will update work when the navigation is active?
I dont see navigator menu on my car. however there button for NAV , RAdio , Telephone etc
is this software issue . my deal said BMW has not added navigator to this car( I doubt)

dodam ze ten pendrive jest USB 3.0
nie wiem czy powinien byc standard 2.0??

pendrive 32GB format na FAT32. wgrane mapy, i po kilku sekundach samo automatycznie wykrylo aktualizacje i zaktualizowalo w jakies 40minut.

Hi, I have an E84 with a lifetime code. Before activating the FSC code, whenever I plugged in my usb stick containing the maps update, it would prompt me to do so. Now that I activated the lifetime FSC, the car is ignoring my usb stick, for whatever reason.
Any help would be appreciated. :)

Planuję, ale na razie za słabo rozumiem proces spolszczenia w tym systemie, żeby się tego podjąć. Jak się douczę, to pewnie to zrobię.
@@mrfixpl Chodzi mi na ogół o aktualizację softu, z tego co mi wiadomo trzeba mieć komputer za niebagatelne pieniądze. A wydaje mi się że Ty jesteś człowiekiem czynu który to rozpracuje.
Z tego co rozeznałem, to w ty systemie (CIC) była już oficjalna polska wersja. W tym samochodzie użytkownik może wybrać sobie jedynie niemiecki lub angielski język, ale jeżeli oprogramowanie CIC jest aktualne, to ten język jest tam zaszyty i trzeba "jedynie" zmienić kodowanie pojazdu (FA/VO - Vehicle Order), żeby zawierał polską lokalizację do wyboru.

Jeżeli mam dołożona nawigację cic przez poprzedniego właściciela (z vin nie wynika ze jest nawigacja ) to uda się tymi linkami wygenerować klucz fsc , lub ma Pan jakiś pomysł ?
Kablem E-SYS łączysz się bezpośrednio z nawigacją, więc taką metodą powinno się to ogarnąć.

Doesn't matter as long as maps fit on it.
mr-fix the 1b.hex file is not transferring to my usb. Is there a specific usb stick you can recommend I should get? Also format to FAT32 yes?
I ended up making the ENET cable because I was not able to retrieve the 1b hex file.
AFAIK this is only possible on units that support USB firmware update. There should be update option somewhere in the settings menu. If it's not there, then the 1b file will not be created on the USB.
