1949 was my birth year. I wanted to do this pattern to celebrate my 75 years. What day in June is your BD. My son's was the 14 the and he turned 55.
Yvonne
I have missed you. I’ve checked multiple times each day to see if you have posted. How did I become so addicted?
It is her friendly voice. Gets people every time.😊
ive checked all day to . i love watching all the crochet projects she does
Same here I've been checking every night, love the way she she's love her spirit ♥️
I am sorry to hear you have not been feeling good. Totally get it since I have celiac which pretty much happens to me when I get gluten contaminate in my food. I have tried to explain its not so much of the stomach ache but the after affects that can last day's! By the way, I LOVE your videos! I have been trying to catch up with all your previous video's. We have great conversations.....hahahaha
very pretty
I like Sundays. I get two days off from work, and Sunday is the first one. I begin my Sundays catching up with my RUclips crochet friends (you're my favorite, by the way, so I always begin with your videos). I'm glad you're feeling better, and I'm looking forward to the next Mystery Pattern. I would have joined you on this one, but the soutache bag has become the official bag of the bartenders at work (they decided that); after a certain amount of time, they get one in their favorite color on their birthday. I have three to do before Labor Day, so I was working alongside you on the first one. I love your pattern choices, by the way. Let's get you back to 100%, so you can knock the stuffing out of the next Mystery Pattern!
I am so sorry for what you are going through. I am a registered nurse and have taken care of patients with hashimoto’s. I understand what you have gone through. I hope you rest and recover quickly. ❤❤
I'm glad you're feeling better ❤
It also sounds like one of those conditions where some people constantly tell you, "Well, you don't LOOK sick. Maybe you should just try harder to get going."
To those people: How about YOU get going and let me rest? 😉
Oh yes, Some have tried to convince me it's " All in my head" , and it took a specialist to finally diagnose it , all others kept putting me on thyroid meds and upping them making me more sick than ever, it was so bad years ago, but with diet , I have just about 90% under control, only when im hormonal every month is it out of my control, but on occasion this happens , Im feel even better today than the day I filmed this, so im getting back to 100% :)
It is one of those conditions. It took me 15 years and a nervous breakdown to finally get diagnosed with Hashimotos. Was told I was too young, just needed to walk more and drink more water. The thyroid meds I was on were making me sicker and sicker because I was reacting to the cornstarch in the meds. Doctor finally sent me to a specialist and one blood test showed I had Hashimotos. Now my body is severely damaged and I struggle to do anything, but I "look fine" to people so they don't believe I have a chronic illness. It is infuriating and I have ended up isolating myself as a result. I cannot handle working because I feel like I have the flu all the time. Stress is a huge trigger for my Hashimotos, along with food. I was also diagnosed with celiac disease so eating stresses me out because I do not have the ability to cook from scratch and most gluten-free foods contain corn so I can't have any of it. I have told people I have Hasnimotos and Celiac disease, which are both autoimmue diseases, and still get told I just need to try harder and push through because I am too young to have the issues I have. Like my immune system is attacking my body any time it is triggered by something. It is exhausting.
Glad you are feeling better @justvintagecrochet, I totally understand what you have been feeling. In a flare myself atm because my period is coming so my body is not cooperating. Going into a heatwave where I am this week so I won't be leaving house if i can help it.
I'm 10 seconds in and I already know I'M SO GONNA MAKE THIS, how adorable!!! Etsy here I come!
So sorry you've been so poorly, glad you're recovering. Missed your videos but now we know the reason why. Take care of yourself. Love this bag. 🫶 🤗
I’m glad you’re feeling more normal! Please don’t worry about missing uploads, your health is more important than
Thank you! That play button ▶️ is just round the corner! 🧶❤️🐾
I'm so sorry to hear you've been unwell!! Of course, I'm sure we all missed your uploads but your health is absolutely the priority and I hope you are feeling yourself again soon. And thank you for the many hours of entertainment and comfort I've had with your videos ❤️
This turned out so cute! So sorry you weren't feeling well but happy to hear you're feeling better now.
Glad you are back!
I unfortunately know full well how Hashimotos works. I can relate to all of your symptoms. When it hurts to do anything, I can at least crochet and feel like I'm accomplishing something. Flare ups are awful. Tuesday I need to go to the surgery center for spinal injections and really hope it doesn't trigger a flare.
I pray you will get over this episode quickly! I love your videos!
I'm so glad you are on the mend and feeling a bit better, but I hope you start feeling your best ASAP. Brain fog and fatigue ain't no joke and it sucks trying to explain to people that have never experienced it. Now, I do have a question, it may be a stupid question but here it is anyway. Do you think that the reason this stitch is called that weird name instead of a star stitch is because it's only half of the star? On a full star stitch isn't there a row of half double crochet making it a two row repeat to complete the star stitch? And I must say..... So close 100,000. You go girl. I knew this channel was awesome and special when I started watching it. You frickin rock chickie. P.S. I love this bag it's so adorable. I think I'm going to have to make it.
Sorry to hear you've been feeling so awful. It's amazing how much the right or wrong foods and throw out bodies for a loop, even without an underlying condition. I'm glad you prioritized self-care. We'll all be here and ready when you're able to give that mystery pattern a proper go. Take care until then. 🧡
I love watching your vintage crochet videos! It's a great way to 'rediscover' old patterns and stitch patterns! As for that 'stand up' ridge along the bottom of your pattern, I have another way to make that, that also sort of reinforces that bottom. I see you made a single crochet row to clean up the bottom. If you were to make a second single crochet (or a double crochet) row, using either front post, or back post single or double crochet with NO increases, it sets up your bag with a stronger foundation. If you want the bag to stand up with that ridge along the bottom, you simply turn the work over, so that the ridge is face down, and continue working as normal. If you DON'T want that ridge along the bottom, you keep working as is, only with the first row of the 'wall' of the bag, you go through both the first row, and the posted row together... either will also reinforce that bottom. The first gives you the ridge, the second gives you an even stronger base (which is great if you put 'weighty' items in your bag).
My mother worked at the Bate’s factory in CT when I was younger. She has since passed away and I have all her OG hooks and needles that she got from when she worked there, and they are absolutely THE best hooks and needles to work with. I have not found a modern day hook or needle that compares.
So glad you are doing better now!! ☺️
This bag is so stinking cute!! I'm checking my yarn stash now to see if I have enough!
And thank you for another amazing video as always!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day ❤
Great bag. Love small bags. And patterns are just suggestions. We take creative license. Lol.
I forgot to add .I have started crochet ing again and this time learning to read patterns thanks to you
Wonderful!
I’m glad you’re feeling better! Take it easy as long as you need to. Your body heals and recovers while you rest. Your hubby sounds like a gem.
Hiya Corinna, So glad yr better, loving the bag it's a little work of art. Take good care❣️
We missed you! I'm glad you're better! Cute bag! ❤🙂
I just picked up the guide. TYSM!!! We are all pulling for you to get better soon, and no worries about the disappearing act, things happen, so no pressure. We understand. I've had a struggle recently, too. My dog Relic, a sweetheart 2yo Goberian (Gold Retriever-Siberian Husky mix) was attacked by a loose Pitbull and his neck was badly, BADLY injured. He needed $1200 surgery with many, many sutures. I took the $$ to pay for it out of what I'd saved to pay property taxes. Our family might be homeless but we'll live under a bridge if it means saving our dog. Anyway, I love you lots, & Threadhead hugs forever!
🤗 hugs to you and your Relic (great name for a dog!). I’m so sorry your sweetheart was victimized by an irresponsible pet owner. Please get well soon, Relic.
@@nelsaf365 That's very kind of you. Thank you! Hugs
That is one of the cutest ! It's definitely a great gift idea . Good job girlfriend !
Oooooh, the slide of the quicksilvers are awesome!
Very cute. I gotta make one for my granddaughter's dress up. Has to be in pink or purple. I have purple cotton. Pink ribbon.🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄
I bought the pattern but can't find the teaching guide. Your link on the pattern doesn't lead to that teaching guide, unless I'm a total idiot/idioso/Esel/.......
There are 2 links, one for the pattern, and one for the guide :)
Really cute!!! Thanks for showing us the HOW TO!!! ❤❤❤
Que lindo bolso 😊
So sorry hun. I suffer with Fibromyalgia, IBS and ME/CFS. These make me feel similar symptoms. You did the right thing. Yes we missed you but you need to take care of you! Sending you lots of love and hugs XxXxXxXxXx
That's sooo stinkin' cute! You did a great job modifying it, as always, when it needs to be Corinna-ized.
I hope you get the feel betters really soon! Those sound like a fibromyalgia flare, On Steroids! Ugh!
Stay cool! It's important! ❤😊
115° ???? Wow! And I'm sitting here complaining that the temp here in PA is 90° lol I am sorry you are going through health issues. Sending you healing energies and big hugs!! ❤❤
Truly adorable!! Enjoy using it. Maybe a little lippy pouch tied or clipped onto the hidden treble crochets, just like your keys? That's probably exactly what you were thinking when you mentioned a little sachet.
I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling good. I hope this flare-up in symptoms settles down soon.
I learned to knit in 1986. I still have my first pair of knitting needles. They are Susan Bates Quick Silver, size 3, if you can believe it. I knit a lace jacket for the baby I was expecting. No one told me to learn on bigger needles and to start with garter stitch, so I just dug right in.
I'm so sorry that you were sick like that. I didn't know about your medical condition. It sounds pretty awful. :( I'm glad you're better! The bag is very cute!
I have missed you. Been working on my 1949 doily pattern. After a problem I finally got it right. I think? I have the pattern if yo want it and a picture of it. Made the sparkling bag from crochet again, not finished yet. Like this bag and will be making it. Let me know if you want the 1949 pattern.
Yvonne
Hope you are feeling better. I have stomach problems myself since birth. So, I can relate to different problems that it effects. You have a good man there. Wish Larry a Happy Father's Day. Be careful where you buy the meat from. LOL Scary these days.
It's good to share this time with you while you recover. I am grieving for my best friend who died recently. She had been ailing all her life, but her death was unexpected. I learned to knit on the Susan Bates Quicksilver needles in 1986. I still hane my first pair.
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
Hi I'm so sorry you have been feeling really poorly, sounds like your on the mend and healing ❤ I'm been bad this whole week bad stomach the same as you had and been on sofa for the week, I can't eat makes me sick, I'm hoping to eat something and fingers crossed. ❤ I've really missed tou too at night when I watch you in bed. Glad your back slowly but surely ❤ still keep resting though until you 100% ❤
crochet yourself a little purse/pouch to keep the smaller items in so that you are not hunting for them..if I have learned anything about bags during my 59 years, it's that anything small WILL gravitate to the bottom of your bag, making you have to empty almost everything out to find it..I like this bag..I think that I will have a go making this, because believe me, I have plenty of yarn to make it with..
So glad you're feeling better! Have you considered using plastic needlepoint canvas (covered in fabric) instead of the reinforced cardboard? Not quite as stiff, but much easier to cut. To get the increased stiffness, you could use two pieces. And Larry is a definite keeper!
Sorry you have been unwell Corrina, continue to get stronger and well. Love this little bag ❤❤❤🇦🇺 hugs from Melbourne 😊
I remember one of my cousins having a beach bag with a similar stitch. It wasn't made out of twine but some kind of hay-like material (thicker than twine, it is was around 1/4 inch probably) and, of course, was larger in size but really similar to this one. Instead of a ribbon it had a scarf-like thing around that was around 3 inches wide in a cotton white fabric with black polka dots. I remember that so vividly for some weird reason, mind it, it was back in the 80s and I was a child while she was a teenager. I was so fascinated by the texture of the bag, it is so pretty.
So happy to hear you are feeling better! Take it easy recovering from this bout of ill health. Sending healing thoughts you way! Your crochet community loves you! Oh, and i loved the handbag too!
Taking care of yourself is more important than a video. I'm very happy to hear you're feeling better. Adorable little bag!💜💜
Ohhhh girl, you should try to find a local butcher. They'll have better quality meat and probably won't serve you anything that's gone bad. I hope you feel better!
This is so super cute !! Perfect for a let's go out bag !! Make a couple to match outfits colors or enhance our outfit lol , I love how you modified it , much better 4 sure !! Love this !! Thank You for another great video !! ❤❤ This one !! Glad ur feeling better ,
So so sorry to hear you have been unwell.. I did miss you…but I’m so glad you are feeling better. But please take it easy and don’t over do it so that you can get back up to full form. You take care hun and look after yourself xx❤❤❤
I have R.A so certain foods I don't eat because it causes flare ups. So I bounce back with a decaffeinated green tea with fresh turmeric, pomegranate juice and ginger with lemon rind. I can even eat red meat because of the fillers. Unless I buy wild meat or from the slaughter house I choose fish. Glad your feeling better.
Corrina, so sorry you're feeling bad. I, too, have hashimotos. I've learned several things to do and not do from you. Thank you.
Get in touch with your local Home extension office and they can give you a list of farmers that are certified for you to buy meat direct from them. Been doing that for years and the beef tastes so much better. We buy local for all meats, veggies, and fruits. We even just found a local mill that processes corn meal. It is so tasty!. I wish you well on your recovery! Love the bag! I may make one and starch it to use more like a basket.
Nice to see you back😊Larry is a Legend for helping you finish your bag😊keep well🙏🇦🇺✨️🩷
Welcome back, you were missed. I am wondering of the Victorians called this stitch a snow flake, neige is French for snow and according the google point can be translated as stitch. I have never been great with the star stitch so now is the time to buckle down and learn. Best wishes from the UK
Didn't you crochet a small change purse? Maybe use it for yout lipsticks.😊
Glad you're on the mend, always a relief to feel better. Beautiful little bag, I adore tiny things. Take care and thank you 🌷
Chester is a cute little town here in Connecticut. They have a really good pizza place called Otto's.
Corina, I am so glad you are beginning to feel better. Thank you for this cute pattern! I like it. I love the way you put in your own flare to the patterns. Keep it up! 🎉❤😊
When I finish the three projects I'm working on I really want to make this sweet purse. Thank you.
Nice job on "winging it" and making your own handles! Love that they match the bag pattern. 👏
I would love to make this, but I'm not very good at crochet, knitting is more my forte. You make crochet look so easy!
Ive been dealing with the flu for the last 4 days. It has been the worst flu ive ever had. Your describing on how you felt is exactly how ive felt these 4 days. I hope you feel all better soon!
Would you do more vintage mystery patterns from the 70s/80s please
So glad you are better.
Such a cute bag. I will be making it for myself today!😁✌️
I would use a bulky or super bulky yarn for a bigger bag. I love vintage and antique patterns that can still be used today.
❤❤😊bag!. Hope you're feeling better. Take care and stay safe 💗🙏
You should find a local butcher to get meat from... most of the stuff in the grocery stores is processed somewhere else and they can put nasty stuff in the meat, especially ground meat.
Walmart is notoriously for sus meat. I quite when they found LSD in the meat.
After frogging two times I finally got a straight seam. I love vintage crochet patterns/
Very nice Corinna!! Prayers you're feeling 100% soon!!
I often think of the immune system as a bit like the sea. Wonderful but kinda scary in it’s unpredictability at the same time.
Love this so much!! Thank you for sharing!!!❤
So sorry you have not been feeling well. Glad you are on the mend. I have this book and this bag is been on my to do list.
That handle is incredible! I can't wait to see how the slip stitches look all the way around! ❤
You can put your lipstick and lip balm in the little beaded bag you made earlier!😆
What is your other old channel please? If anyone know please tell me thank you
Hope you feel better soon also pattern is real pretty. Will make cute bags for gifts.
I hope you are feeling better. That bag is absolutely beautiful.
Glad you are feeling better 😊 I agree with you it’s an adorable bag and you did a great job!
I love what you did with the handles. You’re so clever.
That is so pretty ,love it take care Daphne in Aust❤❤❤❤
Glad you're feeling better. Love, love the bag!
Do I have some vintage steel hooks? My size 12 is 1 mm and my 10 is 1.3 mm
Huh? The gorgeous nails 💅 distracted me. 😂
I actually have a tutorial on how I made those on my " Everyday Corinna" channel :) ( Link in the description ) , and Thank you :)
ruclips.net/video/DsP1yTDU6Cw/видео.htmlsi=37D8j7jicXKX9ibf
Thanks. You made my day. @@justvintagecrochet
I definitely want to make this bag! 🩷
This would make a cute gift bag.
Instead of using reinforced cardboard, I've had very good luck with using clastic canvas. Much easier to cut but lighter weight and still gives you the bottom stability you're looking for . Also much cheaper!! Really missed you and hope you're back to 100% soon. I have CFS/Fibro so am very familiar with the achy fog. Prayers going your way!!
I came here to say this too-give plastic canvas a try
I’m sorry that you have been ill.
Love the bag …. Revised version. ❤
I think that’s neige is snow. Its french
I absolutely love this channel. I just started the popcorn coverlet and it's going so well. This is going on my list as well. I loved all three patterns on the printed page you showed us. Can you give me a reference to look up that publication? Thanks also for the comprehensive teaching guide.
It's from the book " Weldons practical crochet"
Hi Corinna, I sent you an Email with some alternative methods for working with beads. Just in case you missedit 💜
Oh thank you!
Cute! You could use your keys to clip closed.
I hope you are feeling better.
Very cute! Green is awesome.
Such a cute little bag..❤️❤️
It's cute and I like the color too 💚
Oh my God I love it. So cute
Cute little bag.
I also looked for you over the past week. Sorry you have been sick and am glad you're better. I have MS which is another sucky autoimmune disease.
Girl--you have been missed, but your health has to take priority. Trust me, I understand. I too have a chronic illness that can wipe me out at times, especially in the warmer weather. So I'm sending good thoughts and healing vibes your way. Now as for the tutorial, this would make a super cute market bag if it were made bigger. I like it as a wrist purse bag too, but would get more use out of a market bag. Hope you have a better week. Hang in there love! ❤❤❤
