If you watched the Super Bowl, then you saw a whole lot of Travis Kelce, incredible coverage on Taylor Swift, and a very questionable ad on Temu. You probably remember the ad well, right? Temu: shop like a billionaire. It played, like, 500 times throughout the game. But can you actually shop like a BILLIONAIRE on Temu? If FaZe Rug, HopeScope, Mia Maples, and the hundreds of other RUclipsr videos have shown us anything about the brand, the answer is a strong NO. But we had to find out for ourselves. Will we walk around looking like tech moguls Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Mark Cuban? Can we strut in a dress as expensive as Taylor Swift’s? Or will the Temu dupes make our space look like Kim Kardashian’s Sknn office decor with a bunch of Donald Judd dupes? C’mon, loyal Theorist, let’s shop like billionaires!

I get why Amy(and the script writers) didn't go into the horrible aspects of Temu (Child labour, secruity risks, etc) because it was about their "shop like a billionaire" slogan. As well as going into such a serious topic so early into taking over a challenge is a big risk. I hope that in the future they are a little more mindful of these topics.

@@renboardley-evans9866doing it for SHEIN while essentially supporting said unethical practices by buying off temu is a bit eh
They did it for shien. I think its because they actually don't care, I mean they constantly mention coke, McDonald's, and Starbucks. So they're definitely zionists.
And shein and aliexpress and everyone else. They even have the same shopping systems and interfaces. Not to mention they've been caught red-handed (along with more "legit" brands) with each other's logos on their clothes, meaning they use the same workshops.
You shouldn't trust any of them DOESN'T use borderline slavery...
Omg no way they deleted my comment. Anyways, what I originally said, was they don't care. They have shown support for coke, Starbucks, AND McDonald's, all zionist companies. They only called shien out because their FRIEND. So tbh they don't care unless it affects them.
Really glad the comments section on this video is respectfully calling out all the problems with Temu! Hopefully they make a community post or something of the like addressing everyone's concerns and highlighting the issues with Temu 😓

Everyone rightfully criticizing the unethical labor used for Temu needs to also realize and act on the fact that Amazon, target, Ross, etc. uses the same items and same exploited labor.

There is way too many places that do this, you are so right to point this out!
Yep, anything dropshipped should be avoided. Amazon is full of it
yuppp avoid amazon like the plague when you can, they've been known to exploit their workers for years and they dropship plenty of items from the same questionable places temu does. thrifting has more recently gained popularity (especially with younger generations like mine) and lost a lot of its negative stigma because we want more sustainable options readily available, and it being cheap is a plus. There are some companies that are more transparent with where they get their materials and where manufacturing takes place (think the tags with QR codes) but those options tend to be out of a lot of peoples budgets (ethical practices and higher wages make things more expensive). But hopefully the energy activists have keeps up and more changes in the industry come

I get what you're saying, however, I think showing the quality on a popular channel most likely harms TEMU more than just shooting a hypothesis in the void. Temu:’shop like a billionaire’
Me :losing all my personal information
I think the Temu slogan of shop like a billionaire is pointing to the idea of not having to worry about costs when shopping for goods, rather than to actually shop for goods like billionaires.
I get why Amy didn’t focus on the other obvious issues with Temu (child labor, identity theft, etc.). The whole concept of the video is about the “shop like a billionaire” aspect so they didn’t go into all that. They kept the focus and I did learn a lot about the rich if nothing else. Does it still leave a terrible taste in my mouth? Definitely. But I do get their thought process. I do hope they do something down the line where they discuss these aspects.
I understand that observation, but that decision isn't very theorist. It's an inconsistent approach compared to how they addressed other stores like Shein in the past. I just feel like this channel is capable of sharing knowledge like they've always done.
@@LeoPerkkyea i’m wondering if it’s because of the company they sold to
They are a theorising channel not a documentary one. I understand their choice.
They don't always have to point out the obvious, i like that they kept on topic tbh
Well, the is a STYLE channel so ya
Incogni sponsoring a Temu-centric video is too appropriate.
Man, this is tough. I feel like this is a huge miss. Temu has a ton of serious ethical concerns that go completely unmentioned, such as child labor, environmental impact, and potential privacy concerns. I also had an issue with the methodology when it came to the electric razor last week. I genuinely want to continue to watch and support this channel like all the other theorist ones, but maybe this change wasn't for me. I'm gonna give it another shot on the next episode and hope for the best.
Wait, you feel like you don't want to support a channel because in 1 video they didn't talk about something which wasn't even the topic of the video.
The topic of this video was if the Superbowl commercial slogan was true or not, the topic of this video had nothing to do with the ethical problems of Temu. That topic would require it's own video to be properly explained. Would you rather some 30 seconds that briefly go over Temu's ethical problems or a 15 minute video doing the same thing? Either way if that's the kind of video you're looking for I'm sure you can find it on RUclips from some other channel.
What I'm trying to say is if you're going to cancel your support over 1 video where they didn't talk about something that wasn't even the topic of the video is a bit ridiculous.
Matpat: Does a video exposing fast fasion.
Amy: Gives fast fasion a bunch of money.
Ikr! I love Amy, but she should've mentioned the major problems about temu and discouraged anyone from buying from them!

They are definitely not promoting it, they're just debunking the idea you can shop like a billionaire on temu
Beige living room segment feels like watching the backstory of a true crime episode. The dark grey warehouse walls really sell it.
This may be my favorite style theory so far. The sass on Amy is fab 😂
Amy has been killing it.
On these style theory episodes great episode loving this content.❤
I'm not a fan of Temu because of the background things it does. My wife bought like, 2 things, and her credit card had a fraud purchase, and information stolen from her. Had to get a new card, but we worry about if there were more things that happened.
Weird, must have been from other places cause so far I've never had that issue. You need to be more on top of that kinda stuff and not just hand out your info
No need to victim blame...@@everettjohnson9374
@@everettjohnson9374also, using digital credit or debit cards helps, since using most websites to purchase risks your information anyway
Don’t forget to mention temu stealing ur personal info
Like RUclips and Facebook? Guess you don't pick your battles wisely
@@everettjohnson9374 I don’t use Facebook, and RUclips from what i know doesn’t give your data to the government
Meanwhile temu steals your credit card information and gives everything to the Chinese government
I've learn in this Episode so much. Thank you
I've been waiting for this
I remember a friend telling me that "temu is a wish from wish"
no, it's the wish version of wish
@@Xeorboom I don't see much of a difference in what you are saying...
@@heyder9403 I guess not on second thought
@@Xeorboom It is too early to argue over temu...
Amy being a swiftie and inserting the quotes nakes sense now; i was thinking matpat was doing a bit, nope its just amy behind the scenes😂😂
How in the world is the first ad that I'm watching on my phone is a Temu ad now tell me how how ironic that is
StyleTheory has made multiple videos about Shein and trying to shut it down/how bad it is, but they give Temu all this money and don’t talk about how TERRIBLE the company is
Chill bro this Amy’s second video cut her some slack
Exactly. It's only her second video. It's actually similar to how Style Theory started.
The first few episodes were a bit more light hearted theories. Then they covered the Shein ones. And unless Shein has a catchphrase like "live like a billionaire" it wouldn't be possible to start with light hearted theories
@@angoff6968 it's her second presenting video. she's been working on videos for this channel since it started, it's the reason she became the host, it's basically always been her channel and matpat just did the hosting
@@Ray_Vun yes, but if a theory was controversial it would fall on the host: matpat now she is front in center and prob doesn’t was to start anything on her Second ep as host
@@angoff6968bro they have AN ENTIRE TEAM a whole company of writers and producers, they have no reason for any slack whatsoever 😂
I think Temu's point is that billionaires don't look at the price tags.
Exactly. Thank you. Temu is terrible in all sorts of ways, but that the writers either didn't care or were oblivious to this makes me upset.
mankind really needs to discover second hand stores and thrift shops again
I love the Lifestyle of the Rich & Famous reference
Ah yes, the episode that was shouldered on the backs of underpaid children, haven't we waited for this one?
Indeed!
Lol dramatic much?
Feels like a dream feels like magic.
The enslavement of Uyghurs is tragic.
Lol fake news

I literally got the exact ad at the beginning of the episode before the episode started 😅
As someone who makes her own Halloween costumes, my advice, don’t buy the first thing you see, shop around for the best deal!
