I'm one of those people who NEVER comment, but I absolutely love your videos! You and Steven are such a joy to watch. Frankly, I really like when you forget things or just add what you have on hand for your recipes. It makes me feel better that other people mess up too and can still recover! God Bless you and your family and Happy Holidays!

Mandy you and Steven are so much fun and crack me up to the point of laughing with tears. Love your videos and recipes. I've made a few of them and love them. Like you I tweak them to my liking but they never fail. Thank you for the love and passion you and the Common Tater share with all of us.

In order to not forget an ingredient I put all of the items that are listed in the recipe out on the kitchen counter. As I use each item I either throw out the can/wrapper or put the rest of the container back in the fridge or cupboard. When the counter is cleared I know that I’ve used all of the listed ingredients. Also this makes cleanup a lot easier. Hope that this helps!

You could call the crockpot chicken recipe Sour Cream Onion Chicken. I am, for sure, making this recipe. Gracie Lou wanted that chicken so bad she swooped in and grabbed it right out of your hand!!! Smart kitty!!! Love you guys and precious, sweet Gracie. 💕

My online comments are few. I enjoy watching your videos and find it funny when you laugh at forgetting an ingredient. I did make the crockpot chicken with the onion soup. I forgot to buy mushrooms so I used carrots and celery instead. It turned out very good. Let’s name it French Cream Chicken. You and your family are a wonderful blessing to those of us who watch.

Mandy, I cannot begin to tell you how you have changed our lives! I am a retired lady from Indiana who was tired of cooking and making the same recipes week after week. Boring ! Well, I stumbled across your channel several months ago and am now hooked. My hubby loves comfort food and I would say that's what you are famous for. My best friends and I are known for our Tea Parties and love spending time together. We are affectionately known as " The Tea Girl's". We're actually more like sisters. I have been sharing your recipes on our thread and they are also happy to try new recipes. We especially love the Chicken Crockpot recipe with mushrooms and onion. I love the Tomato Basil Pasta!! Keep those recipes coming girl. Ps we enjoy Steve and your son so much. What fine young men.

Just a little tip for cornbread- It's really good if you put some bacon grease in the cast iron skillet and then heat in the oven before adding cornbread mixture. Once it's hot you pour in mixture and it creates a crust on the bottom that is amazing! :)

I have made the chili and cornbread recipe several times, but I do the reverse version. I put the chili in first and top with the cornbread mixture. Like a chili pot pie ( with a cornbread crust). And I put a little shredded cheese on top of the chili and some on top of the cornbread.

We had a silver Bangle and Tabby mix named Gray. He was 19 when he pasted and he grew up with my boys. Bangles are big cats so he was not over weight at 26lbs. He had the best personality of any animal I've known. His thing was tuna. Only people food he would eat. He knew the sound of the can when you sit it on the counter. And I tried to fool him many times. Nope. He knew the difference. That tuna can hit the counter, he would come out of nowhere. Miss him. Bless you and all your babies.

When I was a young girl my Granny started sitting the salt container away from the stove. I finally asked her about it and she smiled and said “well, as I have gotten older I forget if I have salt and something or not so once I salt the food I move the salt away from the stove so I will know.“ Now that I am an older lady, I fully understand and I do the same thing. Hi, Mandy. Thanks for the videos! Regarding forgetting an ingredient, hahahaha! I still do it, but far less since I employ the technique of "mise en place," used by all the really good cooks and chefs in the world! That is where you measure your ingredients and set everything out. When you do this, you quickly learn whether you have everything you need, and enough of it! It really saves a lot of time and effort and makes for really good food! It does take just a little bit more effort, but since you have to measure everything out and get everything out anyway, why not do the hard work beforehand and make sure you have what you need. It is really hard to forget to add things when you do this!

One other thing I have learned--watching you measure out Crisco made me remember. I have found that weighing shortening or lard is easier, faster, and there is less cleanup! I use my scale, and the first time, tare out the measuring cup, then jot down how much it weighed. Then, the. next time I need to "measure" shortening, I just lay down a small piece of wax paper and weigh it! Easy-Peasey! Eventually, you end up with all the measures and weights for shortening and lard. Butter comes pre-measured on the cubes, so no need!

Hey, Mandy! I have been intrigued with your cooking ( which I love as it’s very similar to my style of cooking as well.) I happened to see more of your videos about how you & Steven met! Oh, my! So beautiful! And you’re only an hour away! I adore your cooking style.
Not certain what you do, but I’m a full time working mother and I cook from scratch daily!
I work at Samsung in Newberry, SC. Sometimes, I’m working 8 hours and then again, I maybe working 10 hours, but meals are important to us .
My son just turned 19years old. He graduated high school with an advanced diploma in welding at 17 years old. (the first to do that in our area)
Anyhoo, I admire your cooking videos & Andrew actually helps me and loves some of your ideas as well! So, thank you for sharing!!❤

I am always trying new recipes for my family and I get lots of great ideas from your channel.
You asked if we forget ingredients sometimes, this Thanksgiving, I forgot to season the cheesy taters and the Mac and cheese. Sad part is those were my main contributions to our family dinner. 🙈

I love y’all’s videos so much! I’ve been watching you for years now, and seeing how your channel has evolved is so amazing! Gracie Lou has gotta be my favorite in the family, she’s become so demanding with the cheese it’s hilarious, you’ll be trying to film and she’s just screaming at your feet like “mama, you better give me some of that cheese!” Even if there’s no cheese in the recipe 😅 you guys seem like such a nice and good hearted family. Keep up the amazing videos!! ❤

I also forget ingredients, even when I’ve double checked the recipe 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ve made a similar Chili and Cornbread but instead of cooking the cornbread first, I pour the cornbread over the chili and cook it, and I agree it is a great comfort food! I’m looking forward to trying the “keel-basa” (as I pronounce it), or the “kuh-basa” (as my husband pronounces it) stew next week when we go camping!
