We return to Sakkara to view the famous pyramid of Unas and the Pyramid texts inside it. TEXT TRANSLATION; www.africa.upe... Join this channel to get access to perks: / @ancientegyptarchitecture
The interesting part of the book of the Dead is the acknowledgement of one creator God above their "Pantheon". Ancient Egypt was a monotheism. The other gods were part and replacement of the animistic religion of the masses. They could pray and pay for good outcomes from their ventures. That's why the priests hated Akhenaten; because he deprived them of their revenue.
I will never not be amazed at their stoneworking abilities, that causeway looks incredibly good still and the fine carving of those hieroglyphs is just unreal... impossible to correct any mistakes there too, makes me wonder if any slabs had to be carved more than once.
@@bluesdirt6555 Re-enforced concrete has roughly a 250 year lifespan. If people disappeared from Manhattan, in 1000 years you would need a chemistry set to know buildings once stood there. A good show entitled "Life After People" discussed this. Just a few items will remain if people disappeared from the US tomorrow, Hoover Dam and Mnt Rushmore being two examples.
If I'm not mistaken, the hieroglyphs in that pyramid were so pristine and flawlessly carved, they were copied in order to use as a standard when writing hieroglyphics in print. This remains true to this day.
The original builders were alchemists, there is a reason why stones are so tightly together and it has to do with alchemy, that's what a major part of the plateau and pyramids was all about, something that benefitted the entire society. They certainly were not built to be tombs but certainly if someone who thought themselves of great importance at some point one might have decided they wanted to use it as one.
Are the people that we understand as dynastic egyptians, not the true architects of the extremely precise artifacts and monuments? Did they stumble upon the ruins of a much older civilisation?
It's a mixed bag. I suspect that a few ancient monuments may predate the dynastic periods; Perhaps some artifacts as well. But I think the dynastic culture produced all of what remains from their own era, although I don't think we should rule out a fund of knowledge passed on through cults or mystery schools that enabled them to achieve things that they otherwise could not have.
Mummies have been found in some pyramids. Are they original internments? Anyone with actual data to verify this please post links so we can sort it out.
@@AncientEgyptArchitecture respect- fare point. Interesting the book of the dead is so beautifully inscribed here. I guess none of the pyramids are dated with certainty ? One of the true mysteries.
The early and middle kingdom timelines in general have a few kinks, but the evidence is slowly mounting that Khufu and Khafre were restorers, not originators, of the pyramids, Sphinx and Valley / Sphinx temples. How much earlier than those dynasties they were built is a matter of conjecture. Since the Larger pyramids at Dashur were supposedly built by the immediate progenitor of Khufu, that raises questions about the actual provenance and dating of the Red and Bent pyramids as well.
Love it.. TY. Now, @ 3:17...........sorta shows concrete sliced(consider a different mix, light and strong). I am not sure why we don't really consider, and many do, but, that the stones were poured and molded, side by side. It explains a lot. And as if, only now we know how to mix mud, stone and stuff to make a brick, which seems as simple as possible. And as always, seems more of a machine than a vanity item and it had more function than fashion aspect. Like, most of it looks like a giant micro chip and or power source. Great video.. ty.
A good point. The narrative claims that this was done over non-improved natural terrain, which I for one consider a preposterous idea. Certainly these blocks were too massive for barge loading/river transport, and in any event even if waterways could have been used, there was still the last few miles to the site which had to be accomplished overland. I'm still waiting for an explanation that involves neither thousands of men pulling on ropes nor magically floating them in air. It's a genuine mystery.
I've read them a number of times, Egyptian texts are very strange as if they were quoting very ancient ideals mixed in with their current funeral rites. I'm curious, which translation does that broken link to The University of Pennsylvania have? After years of watching, I finally obtained an original copy of Samuel A. B. Mercer's translation for ~$30 when they usually go for over $200! I found a commonality in universal comparative mythology and it confirms The Younger Dryas Impacts Theory. Almost all cultures point directly to the Pleiades as the source of World Ages or Suns in America and that is where the Taurid Meteor Stream seems to emanate from. Even as far back as Gobekli Tepe there are seven birds in a row within Enclosure D and recently there were found two bull scapula placed over a grave at a sister site that confirms that they venerated the Pleiades. Isis and Nefertiti each hold a bovine shoulder blade at the Pleiades. And we still dress as the dead when the Halloween Fireballs, the Taurids, fall.
I just tried the link and it worked fine for me...perhaps you could try copying and pasting into your browser.... www.africa.upenn.edu/Books/Papyrus_Ani.html the translation is by E.A. Wallis Budge

Correct.
No, that's incorrect. @@AncientEgyptArchitecture
Technically what you are describing is henotheism.

Man, I really don't envy that poor soul who had to carve out all that text in high relief. That must have taken ages...
It probably paid decent…….
I often wonder if our modern civilization will be researched by far future generations as ancient ruins. Thanks for sharing :)
Their going to find our giant mounds of garbage!

Thank you for leaving out the disruptive thumbs up animation. The content is enough already for thumbs up. Nice work!

There are still many hidden spaces under the Egyptian pyramids
Amazing channel! Thank you for all of your work!
Btw, is this the only Pyramid found with writing inside of it?
No pyramids built prior to that of Unas had inscriptions, but many afterwards did.
Thanks for the share!
You bet!
The guards at that site were especially terrible when i last visited
You just didn't tip them enough.😉

The hyroglyphs are 'fresh' because they were placed there much later by the egyptians that claimed these structures as their own...

Has anyone noticed the total absence of roads & bridges that could support the transport of multi 1000 ton stones? Why have no dams been found?

What "extreme weathering?" Sand and wind? Sounds like hot air. More like older than given date.

My understanding is that the pyramid texts are a subset of the book of the dead.
I am familiar with the Pleiades connections .
