I love the moment where Jamie starts to explain on the board, turns around and stops for a moment.. He saw that everyone was getting closer and really listened to him.. Something that never happened before and it always makes me tear up a little bit
Oh that's so interesting cuz my take away was a bit different; I took it as him realizing he was saying he shouldn't be the one in the limelight scoring goals.
Only seen the show through clips, because Apple TV, but I noticed a nice paralell between Jamie and Zava here. Zava just started rearranging the board, put himself up front and everyobe else back. Jamie asked permission, pulls himself back, moves up his teammates. Im sure the scenes are like a season apart but they still feel connected to me.
After I watched Ted lasso I thought “maybe I can get into soccer”. I watched one quarter of a match and remembered that the show has approximately 8,000,000% more action than an actual soccer match.
Thing is: Ted Lasso has amazingly little Football in it (which makes it great for people like you who don't like Football aswell!). A normal game is 90+ minutes and on average there are 1-2 goals. So yes, if you only enjoy the goals, Football is absolutely not the sport for you. If you enjoy the game itself, the "lawn chess"...then it is so full of action, hardcore fans will tell you that a sport like Handball (where there are goals like every 30 seconds) is "boring". Not that I would agree with that though
Ted Lasso writers: "Okay, in episode 7, I think we should have Richmond beat Arsenal 2-0 after a classic Ted inspirational speech." Coach Beard: "That doesn't work for me, brother."

it's mancunian, but people often confuse it with scouse which is being spoken in Merseyside (Liverpool), so if you are unsure try to imagine a person saying to you "Oh, f*** off", if you can hear it more clearly in your head that means that the person has mancunian accent and that's what they would say to you if you ask them if they are from Liverpool. I hope this helps.
They lost against a team two leagues above them at that time and were experimenting with a new strategy in total football(where players swap positions during key moments to better encourage momentum and full utilization of space) and were struggling because they still were playing a standard feed the striker mindset. Jaime's speech is what wakes them up to the idea they don't HAVE to play like the other teams and can embrace what makes their team stronger through the trust and instincts from how bonded the team became. So yeah, using a midfielder to move the ball through stretching the field isn't exactly rocket science, but the wisdom to implement and course correct are why the scene feels satisfying. In season 1, Ted tells pre-growth Jaime that if he can figure out how to play without ego and use his natural talent to lead, the others would follow. And 2 seasons later, that's exactly what we get, to the bewilderment of Jaime. They didn't listen to him because he was "the star player" or anything, but because he had earned their trust. This episode marked a turning point for the team, as they begin to start winning once more due to their better understanding of total football.
Jamie realizing he’s respected by the team is such a lovely moment.
Jaimie EARNING the respect of the team is such a lovely moment.

He has like three and a half lines in this scene and they're clearly the best

@Hasturoth well you're wrong
The day Jamie realized he was actually worthy. So many people helped him get to that moment. Majestic indeed
He became a leader rather than a star.
A majestic, sweeping symphony of a goal!
What a nice describe
Honestly the anouncer gave me goosebumps lol
Arlo White was great when he commentated on the premier league. Pretty sure he's doing LIV Golf now.
That was bloody good 😂
The thing about Arsenal is, they always try to walk it in
You saw that ludicrous display last night?

Ted mumbling "No, no" after that is what really sells it.

You really do need to watch the show. They ABSOLUTELY ARE connected.
Unironically, Jamie is 2/3 of the way to recreating Cruff's 3-Diamond-3 formation.

Not too much exactly

Exactly. We Americans do not have the patience for that. 😅
The plan Roy wanted to do by tying all the strings to Jamie’s earlier. So great
I miss this show

Roy with the asssquatch was fantastic.
I like how Jaime's signal to be a appropriate prick is them giving him a middle finger.

Subtle but at the end Jamie makes the extra pass to set up the goal and callback the Man City game, such a well written development arc

What accent does Jamie have? Northern England? 🤔 (I’m from Texas)
Mancunian (from Manchester)

He speaks in an special accent
The actor is affecting a thick Mancunian (Manchester) accent for his role. He sounds quite different if you hear his natural voice.
I mean they lose because that’s like the most basic soccer skill lol.
