I’m rewatching the show with my wife and I’m so amazed how much the characters developed, and it’s such a natural progression you barely see it happening.
@@randyjam9925 And the awards they are eligible for there's only 1 winner per year. They don't actually worry about other people on other shows/movies being just as worthy if not more so. favorite part of the finale is how ted walks by the window and sees jamie with his friends having fun just like how he saw jamie through the window getting scolded by his dad
the line "theres something worse than being sad, and thats being alone and being sad" brought me to the brink of tears. Such a great quote and i will not forget it
I don’t know. I am not trying to just argue, but “by far” there was so many different characters that had great arcs. I liked Nates. Going from a scared humble, yet ill tempered, maintenance man, to a leader within the club, the fallout, head coaching gig. I like how he was built up to be kind of the villain but then figured his own life out and made the right choices. Yes at first it got him fired and he was lost for a bit, but he also got to realize he was loved, got to ask for forgiveness, and even got the chance for redemption.
@@notiitans Oh agree they all have their stories and are equally great. I just remember when the first ep aired, Jamie was my favorite character and watching him go from being this narcissistic person to an unselfish, loving, caring about other people person and forgiving those that hurt him was just done so well. @@notiitans I really liked Nate's story too, how it so realistically showed that someone who's never had much power can easily become corrupted by it when he suddenly has it, but to me the s3 "redemption" part was a bit rushed and way less emotionally fullfilling than Jamie's. It just felt like they brought in Jade (and his parents a little) as a sort of sounding board to show the audience Nate's process, but the work needed with the characters he actually influenced by his shitty actions was barely there.
@@battleforthesun Nate's arc actually made sense to his own character. He was trying to be the big bad coach, but deep down, that wasn't him. At least in a short series run. This definitely falls into a quality over quantity situation. Character development and heart are two of the best but still many great things this show has had going for it
@@hubcitygirl1757 it happens in television...a stellar first season and then the laws of diminishing returns. PRISON BREAK is a good example of this...
I just love (and you can see by watching this) that without getting too much into each character, you find that every single player and person is going through there own wild journey, everyone has troubles, it is about over coming them to what defines you.
3:37 this image has so much symbolism that speaks to the heart of what it means to develop yourself as a man. The fact he is standing next to his hero, who he still looks up to even after meeting him and getting to know him, with the same pose, shows he is on the same level with him. This is really what I believe the ultimate driving force is for every good man. To earn your place next to the men you look up to. It is never given. It is only earned, and it is the only way you can truly ever put out the ember that burns inside you as a man. It was like how JD always wanted to be the peer of Dr. Cox. Watching character development that actually feels so believable is so rare anymore.
The series didnt just give us one arc, it give a development arc and a fitting ending to literally every character on the show, but the arc they gave jamie is sublime.
Ted went in with the attitude that he was there to coach all aspects of the player, both on and off the field. But he also approached it as a collaborative experience where he could learn just as much as teach. He practiced what he preached. Through out the show he is striving to be a better version of himself while encouraging the same in his players. When they fail he gives them patience and forgiveness, even when everyone around him is against it. When they succeed he celebrates their victory and takes no credit in their accomplishments. Not just a great coach. Not just a great leader. A good man.
Jamie Tartt’s journey through this show was fantastic. In the beginning, you couldn’t stand the guy. And in the end, you were rooting for him to help carry Richmond to glory.
I think the one thing Jamie started to learn, especially after his absolute worst moment, was that people did love him. Not for his skills, but because they knew what he could be. Once he realized that, and owned it. He became that person, even Ted saw in him. The greatest part was knowing Sam saw it too.
I never had a show make me feel so incredible after each scene, each dialogue, each character was just amazing and I know for a doubt this is one the greatest shows to ever be created
The fact I’ll never be able to watch this show for the first time again is something else !!!! With Jamie saying he lost his wings, that’s when it really hit. Made me realize I’m seeing a version of how I feel played out in front of me. It hit me that when you fly high and never address the armor you wear around other people, you’ll crash, it’ll hurt, you’ll be scared, overwhelmed and upset because you don’t know where to go when you never did. And that’s okay! Because you’ll fly again..
Jamie, Nate, Roy and Rebecca. Those are the character arc glue that pull it all together. "We're a team, ain't we? Got to wear the same kit." - Jamie Tartt
