Matts took a while to get done due to the weird timing, slides, bends and sweep picking. Corey's has a pitch shift pedal used throughout and has lot of real fast shred parts.
I could hear an acoustic guitar playing in the verses and chorus but I recorded one just for the verses.

This is such a good cover, this song is such a different style for Trivium as well, you can tell Matt really dug deep into his songwriting skills and creative vision for this one, especially the first half of the song

Wow, just wow! This is perfect. And you managed to have the exact same sound. How is this even possible to have something as perfect in something like 1 day of work. This is absolutely amazing. You're truly an inspiration (not that I hope to reach your level one day, but still).
Fingers have resting periods and tension limits so Music is easy TO IMITATE by ear because it makes sense. Takes a godam coward to copy and paste but hell of an effort to compose.
It does take a fair few hours to make sense of all the parts but it isn’t impossible, the more you rely on learning by ear the easier it becomes King

One of Trivium's best in my opinion, this is one of those songs that takes you for a story-ride rather than just being a badass jam. It's a rollercoaster. As with the rest, not shocked I found you've covered it. I'd kill just to be able to play these solos.

Main heavy rhythms took no time at all.
Leads and clean parts an hour or two

Alright, I gotta ask, since we both seems to really love Trivium and playing the shit out of their songs. What's the best way to learn how to get to Corey's level to do those sick shreds? Been playing 4 years, practice daily for hours, I'm at a point where i can learn almost anything rhythm wise, but I just can't seem to get fast and accurate enough to do the solos and I feel like that's my wall that needs to be broken down but I don't know how to get there.
Just play slowly and try to hit every note cleanly, then start increasing the tempo once you manage to play the lick or riff without mistakes and repeat. Slow is fast.
@@Fire27hun I know that's the secret key, that's how I learn all my songs. Shredding seems to be a step above what I can do, and I feel like there's more to just "shred slow". Cause trust me, I'll bring Corey's solo down to like 25% speed and get to like 70% and then stay stuck there because my fingers physically won't move any faster. I feel like I'm missing something to get me to increase those speeds. I was hoping to hear like a secret exercise routine specifically designed to improve speed and accuracy.

How many hours is it taking to learn the songs? Can't imagine doing it without Guitar Pro.
A couple to figure what the rhythm guitars are doing and get a hang of playing them along with the song, as well as any subtleties like slides etc
A another hour or two to decipher what leads are playing and if there’s harmonies blended in.
Then multiple hours figuring the solos out in portions, slowed down in Protools.

Just enjoy guitar for learning songs I love. 90% of what I have learned is from Trivium, so cool to see someone else covering so many of their songs. Your hard work pays off in the videos. I am sure Matt will send you a signed guitar one of these days!
Btw, I know everyone keeps making Iron Maiden comparisons with that intro but what about Parkway Drive?
I can kind of see a loose Maiden comparison, only because it’s got a clean melodic intro with the melody both sounding from a post 2000 Maiden epic.
I don’t see any Parkway comparison there other than Winston doing that low register singing on newer albums that Matt does a little bit here.
