    Awesome advice. Upon retirement I knew I’d need daily structure. Just enough activities to move the day along, my way. I created a check-off chart. Breakfast, supplements, reading, calendar check, bills due check, at-home gym-class, comedy/humor, walk, dishes, laundry, freezer/fridge menu planning, shopping list, playing piano, lunch, nap, walk.. over time these all became daily habits, not vices. I feel so in control of my life.

      Some of us need structure and other can wing it. Structure isn't always vices, they turn out to be habits, like you said, or way of life!

    My brother was so bored in retirement that he went back to work part time. He also took up rehabbing ATV's and reselling them. Always doing something. He likes to skip around and do different things.

    And playing the fiddle.

    I understand how some still need structure after retiring. I've had zero problem being retired and I'm very, very rarely bored. Golf was a big hobby for me ( I started golfing long before retirement ) after retiring. I also took up woodworking, and I do puzzles every morning with my coffee. MY wife and I have a 4000 book library ...... we have been readers for many, many years. I'm also a pencil artist and I must say, I'm quite good at it.

    With regard to learning a musical instrument, there's a lot of libraries that have instruments that people can borrow. You could borrow it for a while to see if you like it before making the commitment to buy one.

    I am 67, considering on retirement but I think I will work until my health prevents it. My father worked until he was 88, although part time.
    I don’t have a labor intensive job so I am fortunate. When I went to high school, I vowed to choose a career that I would look forward to Monday instead of Friday. It worked out. Find a fulfilling career, take vacations and time off for family events and enjoy your passion. Mine is research and teaching.

      Some people don't want/need to retire. I did a video about that. People need to live THEIR lives as they want & others should be in support of that, whether you agree with them or not.

    • @lightworker4512
      @lightworker4512 День назад +1

      @@myretiredlife13 No idea how you assumed I didn’t think people should live their lives as they want. Everyone has different circumstances and life can change in an instant when confronted with an unforeseen accident, health issue or loss of your position through no fault of your own. Also, one man’ love is another man’s poison.
      Most people do not like their jobs or are burned out and are counting the days until they can retire. I don’t blame them as job dissatisfaction is very high due to toxic work environments.
      The main objective is to keep your body and mind engaged to mitigate physical and mental decline and you offer good suggestions for retirees.

    I like how you address the negative comments and people using your platform to get people to hook up with someone else for financial gain. I suffer from depression so retirement is a challenge. Lately I have been taking down red oak trees killed by the spongy caterpillar infestation I had a couple years ago. Cut the trees up into chunks and splitting the wood so it can be used for firewood. I also enjoy pickle ball and putting puzzles together. Thanks for your video.

    I have several hobbies that I enjoy very much ,but I think the most important hobby is self improvement through a more healthy life style and an improved emotional intelligence. Don't put too much attention into empty pursuits that do not leave you a better person. If you are over weight out of shape with high blood pressure, than take up yoga and become an expert on nutrition.
