@@AuraChannelerChris They really went and took one of the largest, but most enjoyable stages from the first game, decided to give it the corporate logo treatment, and boom. One of the smallest stages ever now, and stripped almost all of its uniqueness away. How tf did they fuck up this badly when the only major issue was it's spawn????? Same goes with hammerhead, unforunately.
@@supportingcharacter2908 it’s pretty good still! I’d say the map is roughly the same and is pretty enjoyable on ranked. Brinewater springs on the other hand..
Wasn't aware they brought this stage back in the newest game, as I only played the first game and just so happened to wanna find some older Splatoon videos for nostalgia sake. I played this game to hell and back, and this stage means a lot to me personally, as not only was it the stage that taught me how to use the Kelp Splatterscope (my favorite weapon), but it was also the first stage I got to play with my friends when they finally got the game and wanted to play with me. So many good memories.
Nice Splatoon 1 gameplay! You did really well! This Mahi Mahi looks fun and better than the new one we have the Splatoon 3. The S3 one is so small and has no alternate paths other than ground level, platforms, and a couple little islands that are basically useless.
this was my favorite splatoon stage of all time and they completely butchered it :( lets hope nintendo realizes how bad they messed it up and renovates it
I like the new mahi redesign for zones since I'm an eliter but they shouldn't have changed it at all imo, it feels like they're sanding down the edges of every map they bring back. RIP flounder heights soon
Haha it’s really fun to see old gameplay of splatoon 1, I remember I wore the snorkel hat and squid girl dress This was my favorite stage back then, I can sorta understand they need to change the map for balance reasons or whatever but it sucks they didn’t keep the jingle
They fucked this stage so much in splatoon 3 i was so excited about it returning but now im so disappointed the original splatoon 1 version is the best splatoon stage ever made and niw that it looks so diffrent im upset og mahi mahi resort will never be topped
@@AuraChannelerChris yeah that's what I mean though. My favorite thing about the stage was how much it felt like a big playground with all the random passages to explore, and I loved all the floaties and decorative walls.
Help the stage isn't even remotely the same in splat 3 the only thing that stayed was mids design. Literally they just removed like all the islands of the map and now its literally a bland normal splatoon map
There’s no point in having that one long section to ink at the start, which is essentially there to stop flanks, so the flank was kinda removed as well. The little section on the side with the one tall platform is rather useless since chargers would barely be able to camp there. The only real problem with splat3 Mahi Mahi is the overall amount of area to play on.
splat3’s poor map design aside, man watching gameplay for this game after getting used to 2 and 3 is weird like everyone seems kinda… floaty? to me? 3 at least feels a bit snappier in a way but im not sure about 2 since i haven’t played that one extensively in a long time lol
I was so excited when they brought this stage back for 3, but after playing the world premiere they made this stage awful 😭
Yep. I don’t like the redesign at all. Museum is pretty much unchanged but I feel like Mahi is just a shell of its former self.
Ikr
Ugh, totally. The stage is half the size it used to be, and it barely resembles its previous look.
I know right it’s like a completely different stage I don’t like it that much

Splat 3 really went and removed both bases and everything to the side of the central area and said "yeah, people will like this better"
I used to always play splatoon 1 and seeing how they destroyed this stage crushed me
cool pfp
@@cumsoak same pfp lmao (I meant you and the comment not me)
Wanted to watch this because I thought I was going crazy that Mahi-Mahi got smaller. BUT OH MY GOSH THEY MADE IT SO SMALL
i love how the comment section is everyone hating on the SP3 version of mahi mahi
Personally, I'm disturbed, ha ha.
Cant blame ‘em
I’m very scared to see how flounder heights will turn out since we already saw it’s a story shorter and we don’t know what else they’ve done to it
Blame in-game capitalism for that one.
so now that flounder is out what are ur thoughts

This is my favorite stage of all time! It Sucks that they ruined it in Splatoon 3

God I miss this stage. I wish it would return in a future game because the one we have just isn't Mahi Mahi Resort.
IT USED TO BE SO GOOD
They ruined mahi mahi in splatoon 3.

I know right! :(
They did
Thank you very much for recording this and preserving sploon 1 history
Jesus christ what did they do .
The way they remade this map in S3 hardly even resembles the original stage
e-liter being able to go in with burst bombs was CRAZY
RUclips is the closest we have to a time machine. Also that player at 7:10 better be suffering in Splat 3
Can you really blame him for fighting against an e-liter user who barely snipes and mostly throws burst bombs with strength up?
@@1000π This was early Splatoon 1. No one knew what the hell they were doing
never forget what they took from us
Wow I really can’t believe how much they changed these stages it’s ridiculous
I wanted to see what Mahi-mahi was like in Splatoon 1....
Oh man it's so much nicer!!!!! I'm so sad they changed it for Splat 3 now :(
#1 eliter player… also, mahi finally got reworks!!!!! :D

I find it impressive and so relieving that Flouder came back comparatively unscathed. It's smaller but still flounder.

Nothing about the redesign in 3 helps for balance reasons tho. This map was 100% more viable in this state 😭

Excited for museum too
look...
...look at how they massacred my child...
This "child" looks huge.
This stage is returning in splatoon 3!!!!
I'm so happy about it as I never experienced Splatoon 1
@@sc4rl3t30 this aged like milk lmao
Why did they take away basically everything that made this stage special in 3...
I mean, the stage's gimmick is the same. It's the halved size and removal of certain areas that made it way too different.
@@AuraChannelerChris yeah that's what I mean though. My favorite thing about the stage was how much it felt like a big playground with all the random passages to explore, and I loved all the floaties and decorative walls.
This looks so nice compared to splatoon 3 mahi mahi.
Like let's take a top-tier stage and make it one of the worst in the game, how do you accomplish that...
wait youre telling me THIS IS WHAT WE COULDVE GOT????
🪦 mahi mahi 2015-2022
S1 carbon my beloved❤
WHY DID THEY REMOVE SO MUCH OF THE STAGE
Holy sht Splatoon 1 graphics haven't aged well...
What a shock, a game in a console with less horsepower didn't age well.
Even though the graphics are worse than 3's, I honestly like this style more
i miss splatoon 3 so much. i watched the entire vid
Um, Splatoon 3 hasn't even released yet.
@@AuraChannelerChris haha my keyboard is dark i meant splatoon 1

Watching this video to get the bad taste of New Mahi Mahi out of my mouth.

I honestly like this stage smaller because my biggest problem With Splatoon 1 stages is that they are too big, but they really made it a TON smaller.
